80 to 100 grains of powder is the best set up for power belts unless your shooting 150 yards or more then the 150 grains would work people that talk bad about power belts don’t read the instructions or don’t know as much about shooting as they claim. The best advice is that what ever works best for you and your gun is what you should stick with if it’s not broke don’t fix it!
That's what I was thinking : too much velocity at a short distance will blowup a bullet just like with these , shotgun slugs , and maybe all bullets . Although that was one dead deer and didn't look like he had to go a terrible distance to track it down and having an heavy blood trail surely helped .
Nice work! I'm not a powerbelt fan they fit to loose in the barrel, the only thing Contacting the rifling is the belt.Im shooting a 300 g Hornady XTP magnum with a TC slick yellow sabot on top of 82 weight grains of triple seven and a Fed muzz primer. Shoots sub moa at 100. I've shot quite a few and always had bone crushing penitration and expansion!
Been watching one video after another of the power belt bullets failing to fully penetrate a deer. Sure did on that one. I wonder sense most of these failure videos state that they were shooting 150 grain powder loads if that isn't a lot of the cause of their failures? To much velocity is not always a good thing. Completely depends on what bullet your shooting as to how fast you want to launch it.
Well I hope they are a good bullet. I caught them on clearance for about .60 per bullet or Half the normal price and bought several hundred of them. About half the 245 grain and the other half the 295 grain copper plated Hollow Points. I also bought ninety of their 330 grain ELR bullets that look more like some kind of a war head off of a missile than a bullet. Now if THEY shoot accurate out of my gun I'd about bet on them being some real deer stompers ! The Plain Lead, ( Un plated ) 295 HP'S they sell should be identical as far as what they do without the copper plating Again, bought several cards of those for half the cost of the copper washed ones. And that's all they are, not enough copper on them to call it a jacket. My bet is that if you push them with 80-90 grains of powder instead of 250-260 they will all work much more like bullets than hand grenades when they hit a deer? What I've shot so far has been at a 75 yard target sighting the open sights in on this new CVA Hunterbolt Magnum rifle I just bought. Yes, I was using two 50 grain Pyrodex Pellets, 100gr and the accuracy is certainly there for deer hunting as far as I can tell and I'd likely carry 100 grains in it hunting.
Depends on the rifle. My old CVA Kodiak would group the 295 grain hp PB at 1.3" at 100 yards, that's also using 100 grain of 777. Shot only one deer with that rifle and it did fine for me, the doe only ran about 15 yards and dropped, behind the shoulder shot and had a complete pass through, but the exit was a big hole, plenty big to stick my thumb in it.
never had to track any deer hit with 295 with 2 pellets out cva wolf they just drop in tracks

To my previous post the XTP 300 is 45 caliber. 452.
My Lyman Plains 54 cal with pure @114 yds shows 3 beds with in 10 ft and a 20ft bath tub blood of blood , no tracking needed!!!!!!
77 yrds, 45 cal, Red stuff on both sides of trail running, 45 yrds if that, she went, they work as intended, all of them,
Learn how to shoot people.

I shoot 100 grains
Those people with those videos shouldnt be near a muzzle loader.
If you shoot one with these powerbelts in the vitals they don't go far, if you hit bone they usually get knocked down!
I want a bullet to deliver all of its energy inside of what I'm shooting at, other wise I would be shooting full metal jackets at them!

That is encouraging. Most folk don't testify of that good of a result.
That is the best feeling!
Hollow point?
Whats your setup?
That one was an old Thompson Center Black Diamond with 2 50 grain Pyrodex pellets and a cheap bushnell scope.
Now that's how you make a point with a video I use those bullet to
Excellent video. Now we got a video of a deer kill and we have ONE deer that a power belt has possible pass through and a blood trail.
Never seen a powerbelt pattern good enough to hit anything with them
Don’t know what powerbelt your looking at but mine group pretty well as same goes for my uncles

I've never had a blood trail with powerbelt...all because they dropped lmao
how much powder was loaded?
2x 50 grain pellets.
