Back in the day in pre season 1, there was legit role as "river" evelynn or alistar. At lvl 1 you went bot lane, u wait for lvl 2 and then, you just lived in river ganking every lane as often as you could.

Another powerful strategy that I encountered way back was pre-rework AP Sion midlane going boots of mobility and then roaming to other lanes for easy ganks. He totally took over the game and before I noticed he left the lane he was spotted running full speed over a ward, but it was too late to escape at that point and my lanes got destroyed by his continous roams.
I am by no means a good player (Peaked at Plat 1 this season Plat 3 now) but I managed to take ADC onhit W max ivern with an afk supp and end up 2v1ing the lane in iron 2. You saying that is the realist thing I've ever read, you can play LITERALLY anything at that rank and do well once you understand mechanics and the fundamentals of the game.
@@aMolleTargate That's what I'm trying to say at that level You can play literally anything at that level and eventually be able to climb once you've got a proper understanding of the game. This was beyond an off meta pick and in any other elo it would be considered hard trolling. but it worked because I had a better understanding of the game, even in a 2v1 situation I was able to play around the few advantages I had to make my own lead, and snowball with it.
I got my first penta in ranked as Yorick. I was #15 yorick enthusiast in the world. He was the first champ I ever purchased in the store. I have a lot of fond memories with the old Yorick. I was happy with his kit and I was glad he was under-appreciated by the community and Riot. Then I played the new one a dozen times and I couldn't even stomach him anymore. They ruined him.

One had 500ad with muramana and killing everybody, the other was trash. Then i saw the Kshaway video, man was i sad that i didnt own yorick back then.
We all know the best Off Meta 'champion' is the Ohmwrecker item itself. Mark my words; Ohmwrecker will be a core item on every champion. You can trust me.
When Thresh first came out, I remember using AD Thresh top. Think his souls gave him 1:1 magic damage on the first 100 souls back then and this was also release BotRK. His extra damage auto attack was also on his Q, so you maxed that first.
Just for clarity sake thresh wasnt released at the same time as thresh. When thresh came out they actually change botrk from magic to psychical damage on the passive. But it was still basically release Blade.
@@kotwczapce1742 his range its so mediocre and his early its so bad you could consider it a melee minion. there is nothing wrong in playing thresh top, its a challenge very few accept because basically any tank or bruiser can kill you level 1.
I loved old yorick there was no bad way to build him. 80% of your opponents didnt know what he did so you could play people heck even your team would get confused when you revive them. Idk how many times id bring back some one and theyed either stand there not knowing there alive or run away and then time out in confusion. I miss him alot

Full AD crit Thresh was the most fun offmeta build ive ever done, building 1 IE and reducing the enemy's health to half was so fun, and after 4 ie you can literally oneshot any squishies on the enemy team
wasnt that her main build? IIRC she had the highest damage crit in the entier game. actually i wonder how it compaires to max crit dmg jinn. it was like a jhin were all his autos were on 4 and he could select only 1 person to take damage from so he could 1v5 with zero fucks.
Your not really underrated when your nickname is literally : Miss Two-Shot. The saddest thing about poppy's rework is that she lost her identity in the process. She used to be an assassin with determination, one who could ult, get to her target while ignoring everyone else, and smash it in a wall, crack its skull open with her hammer and be on her way. That play style fitted her storyline so well but she got nerfed and nerfed until she basically dealt so little dmg that you could hardly call her an assassin anymore. Than the bruiser hype came along and they reworked her a bit later after that as a more of a bruiser with determination(now represented by her shielding mechanic). When you look at it, she suffered the same problem as alistar did, having an overpowered defensive ult that punishes the other team for trying to stop you when you dive into them. People got mad(rightfully so) when akali got her rework with her shroud making her immune to turret, but that was part of poppy's kit all along. Dives are exciting but I think Riot has always intended them to be at least potentially risky. Sure there are better divers than others, but anyone could dive on poppy, just R, right-click, than E into a wall/turret, aa-reset with Q and gg. What I hope I'll see in season 10 is a pro team winning with a wall team : Anivia+poppy+Qiyana, because it feels like it could make for amazing plays.
there was also a oneshot build after the rework, i think it was Titanic Hydra-Yoummu-RFC/shiv-Trinity/Gauntlet-IE, Deadman's, basically you'd run around with Deadman on and once you had a target Yoummu and W to gain more MS and also proc Sheen, then activate Hydra and the proc dmg on the AA was fucking disgusting, if you managed to snowball hard you could one or twoshot carrys without much issue, she was really strong after the rework too so it wasnt hard to do

The good ol' days* Ap Yi mid was my penta machine.There wasn't a match that I didn't have about 3 to 5 pentas in it lmao.Tho, sometimes tbh you wanted to lose by the end when you were actually winning for the flame that you receive pretty much 95% of the time from your team the moment you would've picked Yi mid.
I'm disappointed that you didn't include AP Xin Zhao. Back in the day, Xin Zhao had a 70% AP ratio on his healing and an 60% AP ratio on his E. You go Attack Speed Runes, build Berserker Greaves, Lich Bane, and Nashor's Tooth. You then basically became Dr. Mundo with a dash. No one could kill you through your healing. AP Xin Zhao went where he pleased and solo'd every tower and Baron.
I feel like he became much weaker in jungle and more strong on top line. He is the single toplaner who doesn't need teleport because he can heal frow everything. My winrate on him 65%. But much scary than ap xin zhao is ap jax. Thats some assasin, you don't need big brain move or something else. I can't believe no one ever detected it.
As someone who cut off LoL around the start of season 3, I remember when Support Naut was considered a niche pick. I even remember seeing a video on UA-cam of that very thing, and next thing you know, he became meta. I talk about these old thing with my friends who still play, and it seems crazy that some old niche playstyles are now meta.

Remember the good old Tresh + Bliz combo in bot lane? Pretty fun stuff. I still play Rengar + Invern bot, i suggest to try it, it is pretty disgusting once you reach to lv 3.
Dude, we spent weeks trying to do the hook&touch the lantern thing. Getting grabbed under your tower and finding yourself next to theirs must have been fun though :D
AD Maokai was another fun brawler ADC. For some reason he had the highest base AD (not sure if that's still true) He had a fun play style of throwing out a sapling into brush/over the wall then rooting to any enemies you find and then just hitting them till they died. He wasn't ever the strongest ADC but was at least a fun one.
About the AD scaling question One or two season back in the days, when Sion used to be a lane bully, his Q had a 200% total AD ratio, so AD sion could stomp easily, but he got a big nerf. Now his lvl 1 Q has 125% total AD, but in lvl 5 Q now he has 225% total AD, that's why lethality Sion works, you can get a 800dmg fully charged Q with only 2 items
same with ap yi and old galio... damn i loved old galio... his ult in low elo where nobody builds sash was soooooo satisfying and damn was I silver back than...
Ya, it's part of why I wandered away from the game. That and teamfights now look like someone threw up a box of crayons on my monitor while everyone is dying in less than 3 seconds. People whined about the 'tank meta' being boring or when bruisers were strong, but durability actually mattered back then.

Surprised AD Jungle Malzahar didn't make the list in some form. Right after rework it was broken, but before rework it was a really interesting hidden gem that could solo objectives better than anyone and 1 button gank
@@copper7086 I also suggest riverpyke, he works even better. Just constantly pull enemies towards your mates and stun with E. works better than shen even tho pyke is very fragile. But its very fun, i OTP'D him jungle for a very long time. A bit weak early but extremely annoying to go against and at 6 you can still penta with his R.

Pre re-work tank karma top lane was absolutely brutal. She was impossible to kill, too fast to be ganked, she sped up her jungler for ganks and had inbuilt sustain.
Yes it is. Naturally its developed since its early stages. But it was essentially funnelling. Riot added support items since this strategy had just become standard and having a guy forced into getting no gold or items every game wasnt exactly their idea of fun. Personally i thought it was fun just getting boots and then spending everything on wards, because supports never were about items. They are about their kit being effective regardless of how well they've been doing in a game
I used to play shaco/blitz both full ap botlane with my cousin, back then when you could place shaco's boxes on top of eachother. If the blitz managed to hook you, you were dead instantly. It was the most fun i ever had in lol.
I must say that I really like this video as it feels it has broadened my open mind to things that are different and/or don't fit in just yet because the picture hasn't become clear enough. Which I gotta say "Thank You" Exil As after watching this video it has caused me to have this feeling to theorize about champions and what they could become and testing it out when I have a "full gang" of friends to play with so I can test out different ideas instead of always having to do what is inside the box(Riot recommendations). Which isn't bad I just think it can cause a sense of things getting stale and leaves the idea of creativity outside the window. Lastly to summarize the paragraphs up above. I find that you have opened up another door to which I could try things out for fun and to see what can actually work either in a real ranked game, or just a fun way to play a champ. Which after trying it out with a group of friends( 5 man) , then perhaps ranked flex, and finally trying it out on solo/duo . But I do know that if I were to do something off meta in ranked I would get flak for it as the same or even more for when I just do bad in a game . Again, Thank you Exil for posting this video.
I had a really great time playing syndra jungle, even having a 19 game ranked win streak with syndra jg as 1/3 of them when the blue jungle spirit would give you mana back... oh lordy, she could clear chickens from over the wall and gain more mana back than she spent doing it.
That Unicorns vs FNC game still gives me the chills! Amazingly played by both teams but UOL is my all time favorite team and they made me interested in the pro scene. All hail Csacsi 💜

The cool thing about this video is that most of the strategies featured are things I played or theorycrafted before they got popular. I had the idea to funnel jungle in Season 2, I played AP Amumu and Sej back then too because of those ABSURD AP Ratios. Jungle Karthus was an attempt in Season 3. I played Top Graves and Support Item Top day 1
The most terryfing offmeta build was AP nasus on his release date... 100 AP = 100% max HP dmg on his ult - it took riot few hours to change Nasus scaling back to normal :) Also AP alistar is as old as Season 1 - when Shushei won S1 champs with it on Fnatic :) - it was extreemly broken back then as he had insane AP ratios and passive scaled with Ap also
5 Steraks Gage with 1 Trinity Force on any champion with "total ad" scalings or high base AD numbers was unstoppable at one point. Nowadays, Steraks Gage doesn't stack, but a few seasons ago it worked like this... I'll use the strongest version of the item as my example: Steraks Gage at one point on the PBE increased your base AD by 50%, and having two would not only stack the effects, but *buff* the effects individually first. Two of them meant +150% (50 + 50% = 75, twice over). Three would make 75% turn into 108%, for each, and so forth for each seperate additional Gage. Five gages granted roughly 250% extra base AD each, for a grand total of 1250 base AD increase. Trinity force deals 200% of your base AD as damage. (Additionally, Steraks Gage lifeline effect can apply yet again another "50%" making the true total be 2250%) So how is this useful? Let's say you're Mordekaiser, who has the highest Base AD at level 18 in the game at 151. 2350% of 151 is roughly 3550. Now take that number, and triple it. That's right; Mordekaiser with a base AD of 3550, hitting you with a trinity force proc that deals 10,675 damage before other effects like runes are in play. Now that's something I doubt any of you knew about.
A few off the top of my head from boomer times. AD SOTD Fiddlesticks. This is an extremely weird one and is probably the weirdest build of all time that will never be topped. It had nothing to do with his fear or anything, it was actually everything to do with his AUTO ATTACK MISSILE SPEED. Fiddlesticks used to have the slowest auto attack missile speed in the entire game at 800. For some context Ezreal has 2000, Karthus has 1200 and Soraka has currently the slowest at 1000. What this meant in practice was Fiddlesticks could have up to 5 unavoidable auto attacks that were in the air before they even hit you. Sword of the Divine was an old item that built out of a Recurve bow. It gave 40% attack speed and nothing else but an active. The active would give your next 3 auto attacks 100% increased attack speed and be guarantee crits. So what Fiddle would do is activate Sword of the Divine, auto attack you 4 or 5 times in about a second and a half then walk away and none of his auto attacks would hit you by the time he left so you couldn't counter attack and then you'd just get 1 shot by his slow moving attacks with no chance to retaliate. If Fiddle could ever auto attack 5 times you were dead and you haven't even taken damage. Fiddle could legit kill 2 people, die without either of them taking damage then kill them both from beyond the grave. You were quite literally playing Kenshiro but as a really funny scarecrow man. Froggen Anivia. An old build popularized by Froggen was Tear > Mejai > Warmogs. Typically in pro and high level play Mejais is an extremely bad item to build because it's such a risky item but Warmogs on Anivia made her almost unkillable by any 2 combination of mid and jungle champions in the entire game. She was physically unkillable as long as she had her egg up so with the pseudo taunt of building a Mejais made everyone focus Froggen but making use of Anivia's slow, walls and extreme punishment of enemies going in chokeholds to land easy stuns would almost exclusively win games on his own.
Hey, exil I've been meaning to ask you something. When should someone's rank define who they are or when they are allowed to discuss. Example: let's say a high challenger player discusses the problems with the league. The player talks about the issue of champion balancing without coming it out bais or discusses of the items or even the report system while still being fair or come off as they are whining or complaining. Most likely people would listen, comment and probably agree with the player. Now imagine a bronze player saying the exact same thing. Chances are people will, of course, make fun of the player, accuse them of being salty because he's "bronze" or just don't take him serious bc, of course, he's bronze. So when should a person rank matter?
I guess it just depends on who you're talking to because being 'good at the game' is subjective to who you are talking to. A silver player with 7000 games and is hardstuck would probably say diamond 3 is really really high ranked. A challenger player is going to say diamond 3 is completely terrible and they should uninstall. Chances are the higher and higher elo you are the more "likely" you are to understand more and be correct, but its not always going to be the case. It would be really hard to convince anyone you know what you're saying when you're bronze, though. But thats just life. You wouldn't ask someone who's $50,000 in debt and making $12,000 a year for financial advice when someone who is a millionaire is giving you advice too... even if they are saying the exact same thing, they dont have the credibility of a millionaire.
The rank matters to a lot of people because, first and obviously, because it shows a status of skill, that person plays a shit ton of the game and he probably knows what he is talking about, they assume he has great knowledge of this games mechanics and building options etc and knows how too utilize each one of them too win games, while people usually assume the ones with lower rank are either just bad at the game, or new to the game, not knowing how to utilize the knowledge they read up or observed from pro games, and are loosing games because of that. But mainly because people just love to be dicks and don't listen to people they think are lesser to them, even if they have a valid point, after all, why listen too a dude that is "Not skilled enough too get too diamond I" or something like that. Sorry if i am severely wrong with anything, and I am not a native speaker so if this has shit grammar or sentence structure I blame that for sucking so bad...... @@Exil22 Funny thing is, the higher people are, the more likely they seem to listen to you and at least consider what you said could be true when you are low elo. A year back when I was doing some analyst stuff for a few teams from national leagues, I noticed that whenever in any forum there are teams looking for staff, there is a kind aweird distinction between higher and lower ranks - lower meaning anything below diamond for sure, mostly up to like D2 even: * Teams in lower brackets usually were like "looking for XY" and under requirements/qualifications there was 99% of the time some kind of "be or higher". Meanwhile, the actual hiigh tier teams that either played in national leagues or competed for spots there were usually asking for stuff like macro knowledge etc, not any ranks. * The few teams that asked for specific rank requirements in higher elos usually wanted people with Plat+ (I think there is a common conception that below that rank you obviously don't know anythign relevant about the game or something like that) but whenever someone lower ranked would be like "hey, I'd like to work with you guys but I'm lower elo" they'd almost always ask for examples of previous work (be it for former teams or just for yourself) or give you a replay or a short part of a replay and ask you to analyse it and afterwards they'd invite you to a tryout. * During these tryouts, exactly one time someone commented on my rank and that person just made a joke. Obviously, the players did not accept my points as truth immediately, but they'd always think about them. Sometimes they'd agree, sometimes they'd disagree but my rank never was an actual argument, whenever they disagreed, they had a valid explanation on why they think I'm wrong * Same cna be said about actually working as an analyst while being low ranked. After a few weeks I also did a draft for them for an actual game in their league since the coach got stuck in traffic and couldn't make it in time for game 1 when befor ein similar cases the team captain would do the draft. However, as a lower ranked person you have a much longer way to go before people will accept your advice while they are higher elo, you got way more to proof first. It always depends on WHY you'd want people to take you seriously as a lwoer elo player. If it's only for discussions overall, chances are your best bet is to just ignore everyone who uses the elo-argument. If you wanna become coach/analyst or wanna discuss stuff for example in champion specific reddits, talk to people there, discuss stuff, try to learn from them. For both, coach and analyst, do VOD-reviews on youtube or just keep them on your PC so you can send them together with an application. and if you feel you know... well, not everythign but you agtehred a significant amount of knowledge, just apply. Worst case in 99% of cases is either the rank-argument which can again be dismissed, or people actually tell you what you need to work on. For subreddits on specific champions you just gotta be able to explain why/when you think build B is better than the standard build A. after all, these are all people who love the same champ, what they are discussing is more like if you should put your favourite pizza in the oven for 15 or 16 minutes - you love the exact same thing, it's just about nuances to possibly make the perfect thing even better^^
Your speech at 21:50 reminded me of when the Rune Rework happened, because I had so much fun playing stupid champions. This wasn’t because they were good, but just because the enemy had no idea how to play against it. Lethal Tempo Braum Jungle was so fun to me for that exact reason. It took me back to when I first started playing.

When Thresh first came out, I remember using AD Thresh top. Think his souls gave him 1:1 magic damage on the first 100 souls back then and this was also release BotRK. His extra damage auto attack was also on his Q, so you maxed that first.

Full AD crit Thresh was the most fun offmeta build ive ever done, building 1 IE and reducing the enemy's health to half was so fun, and after 4 ie you can literally oneshot any squishies on the enemy team

The saddest thing about poppy's rework is that she lost her identity in the process. She used to be an assassin with determination, one who could ult, get to her target while ignoring everyone else, and smash it in a wall, crack its skull open with her hammer and be on her way. That play style fitted her storyline so well but she got nerfed and nerfed until she basically dealt so little dmg that you could hardly call her an assassin anymore. Than the bruiser hype came along and they reworked her a bit later after that as a more of a bruiser with determination(now represented by her shielding mechanic).
When you look at it, she suffered the same problem as alistar did, having an overpowered defensive ult that punishes the other team for trying to stop you when you dive into them. People got mad(rightfully so) when akali got her rework with her shroud making her immune to turret, but that was part of poppy's kit all along. Dives are exciting but I think Riot has always intended them to be at least potentially risky. Sure there are better divers than others, but anyone could dive on poppy, just R, right-click, than E into a wall/turret, aa-reset with Q and gg.
What I hope I'll see in season 10 is a pro team winning with a wall team : Anivia+poppy+Qiyana, because it feels like it could make for amazing plays.
there was also a oneshot build after the rework, i think it was Titanic Hydra-Yoummu-RFC/shiv-Trinity/Gauntlet-IE, Deadman's, basically you'd run around with Deadman on and once you had a target Yoummu and W to gain more MS and also proc Sheen, then activate Hydra and the proc dmg on the AA was fucking disgusting, if you managed to snowball hard you could one or twoshot carrys without much issue, she was really strong after the rework too so it wasnt hard to do

I'm disappointed that you didn't include AP Xin Zhao. Back in the day, Xin Zhao had a 70% AP ratio on his healing and an 60% AP ratio on his E. You go Attack Speed Runes, build Berserker Greaves, Lich Bane, and Nashor's Tooth. You then basically became Dr. Mundo with a dash. No one could kill you through your healing. AP Xin Zhao went where he pleased and solo'd every tower and Baron.
I feel like he became much weaker in jungle and more strong on top line. He is the single toplaner who doesn't need teleport because he can heal frow everything. My winrate on him 65%.
But much scary than ap xin zhao is ap jax. Thats some assasin, you don't need big brain move or something else. I can't believe no one ever detected it.

AD Maokai was another fun brawler ADC. For some reason he had the highest base AD (not sure if that's still true) He had a fun play style of throwing out a sapling into brush/over the wall then rooting to any enemies you find and then just hitting them till they died. He wasn't ever the strongest ADC but was at least a fun one.

About the AD scaling question
One or two season back in the days, when Sion used to be a lane bully, his Q had a 200% total AD ratio, so AD sion could stomp easily, but he got a big nerf.
Now his lvl 1 Q has 125% total AD, but in lvl 5 Q now he has 225% total AD, that's why lethality Sion works, you can get a 800dmg fully charged Q with only 2 items

But its very fun, i OTP'D him jungle for a very long time. A bit weak early but extremely annoying to go against and at 6 you can still penta with his R.

Pre re-work tank karma top lane was absolutely brutal. She was impossible to kill, too fast to be ganked, she sped up her jungler for ganks and had inbuilt sustain.

Yes it is. Naturally its developed since its early stages. But it was essentially funnelling. Riot added support items since this strategy had just become standard and having a guy forced into getting no gold or items every game wasnt exactly their idea of fun. Personally i thought it was fun just getting boots and then spending everything on wards, because supports never were about items. They are about their kit being effective regardless of how well they've been doing in a game

I must say that I really like this video as it feels it has broadened my open mind to things that are different and/or don't fit in just yet because the picture hasn't become clear enough. Which I gotta say "Thank You" Exil
As after watching this video it has caused me to have this feeling to theorize about champions and what they could become and testing it out when I have a "full gang" of friends to play with so I can test out different ideas instead of always having to do what is inside the box(Riot recommendations). Which isn't bad I just think it can cause a sense of things getting stale and leaves the idea of creativity outside the window.
Lastly to summarize the paragraphs up above. I find that you have opened up another door to which I could try things out for fun and to see what can actually work either in a real ranked game, or just a fun way to play a champ. Which after trying it out with a group of friends( 5 man) , then perhaps ranked flex, and finally trying it out on solo/duo . But I do know that if I were to do something off meta in ranked I would get flak for it as the same or even more for when I just do bad in a game . Again, Thank you Exil for posting this video.

I had a really great time playing syndra jungle, even having a 19 game ranked win streak with syndra jg as 1/3 of them when the blue jungle spirit would give you mana back... oh lordy, she could clear chickens from over the wall and gain more mana back than she spent doing it.

I had the idea to funnel jungle in Season 2, I played AP Amumu and Sej back then too because of those ABSURD AP Ratios. Jungle Karthus was an attempt in Season 3. The most terryfing offmeta build was AP nasus on his release date... 100 AP = 100% max HP dmg on his ult - it took riot few hours to change Nasus scaling back to normal :)
Also AP alistar is as old as Season 1 - when Shushei won S1 champs with it on Fnatic :) - it was extreemly broken back then as he had insane AP ratios and passive scaled with Ap also
5 Steraks Gage with 1 Trinity Force on any champion with "total ad" scalings or high base AD numbers was unstoppable at one point. Nowadays, Steraks Gage doesn't stack, but a few seasons ago it worked like this...
I'll use the strongest version of the item as my example:
Steraks Gage at one point on the PBE increased your base AD by 50%, and having two would not only stack the effects, but *buff* the effects individually first. Two of them meant +150% (50 + 50% = 75, twice over). Three would make 75% turn into 108%, for each, and so forth for each seperate additional Gage. Five gages granted roughly 250% extra base AD each, for a grand total of 1250 base AD increase. Trinity force deals 200% of your base AD as damage. (Additionally, Steraks Gage lifeline effect can apply yet again another "50%" making the true total be 2250%)
So how is this useful? Let's say you're Mordekaiser, who has the highest Base AD at level 18 in the game at 151. 2350% of 151 is roughly 3550. Now take that number, and triple it. That's right; Mordekaiser with a base AD of 3550, hitting you with a trinity force proc that deals 10,675 damage before other effects like runes are in play.
Now that's something I doubt any of you knew about.
A few off the top of my head from boomer times.
AD SOTD Fiddlesticks. This is an extremely weird one and is probably the weirdest build of all time that will never be topped. It had nothing to do with his fear or anything, it was actually everything to do with his AUTO ATTACK MISSILE SPEED. Fiddlesticks used to have the slowest auto attack missile speed in the entire game at 800. For some context Ezreal has 2000, Karthus has 1200 and Soraka has currently the slowest at 1000. What this meant in practice was Fiddlesticks could have up to 5 unavoidable auto attacks that were in the air before they even hit you. Sword of the Divine was an old item that built out of a Recurve bow. It gave 40% attack speed and nothing else but an active. The active would give your next 3 auto attacks 100% increased attack speed and be guarantee crits. So what Fiddle would do is activate Sword of the Divine, auto attack you 4 or 5 times in about a second and a half then walk away and none of his auto attacks would hit you by the time he left so you couldn't counter attack and then you'd just get 1 shot by his slow moving attacks with no chance to retaliate. If Fiddle could ever auto attack 5 times you were dead and you haven't even taken damage. Fiddle could legit kill 2 people, die without either of them taking damage then kill them both from beyond the grave. You were quite literally playing Kenshiro but as a really funny scarecrow man.
Froggen Anivia. An old build popularized by Froggen was Tear > Mejai > Warmogs. Typically in pro and high level play Mejais is an extremely bad item to build because it's such a risky item but Warmogs on Anivia made her almost unkillable by any 2 combination of mid and jungle champions in the entire game. She was physically unkillable as long as she had her egg up so with the pseudo taunt of building a Mejais made everyone focus Froggen but making use of Anivia's slow, walls and extreme punishment of enemies going in chokeholds to land easy stuns would almost exclusively win games on his own.

Hey, exil I've been meaning to ask you something. When should someone's rank define who they are or when they are allowed to discuss.
Example: let's say a high challenger player discusses the problems with the league. The player talks about the issue of champion balancing without coming it out bais or discusses of the items or even the report system while still being fair or come off as they are whining or complaining. Most likely people would listen, comment and probably agree with the player.
Now imagine a bronze player saying the exact same thing. Chances are people will, of course, make fun of the player, accuse them of being salty because he's "bronze" or just don't take him serious bc, of course, he's bronze.
So when should a person rank matter?
I guess it just depends on who you're talking to because being 'good at the game' is subjective to who you are talking to.
A silver player with 7000 games and is hardstuck would probably say diamond 3 is really really high ranked. A challenger player is going to say diamond 3 is completely terrible and they should uninstall.
Chances are the higher and higher elo you are the more "likely" you are to understand more and be correct, but its not always going to be the case.
It would be really hard to convince anyone you know what you're saying when you're bronze, though. But thats just life.
You wouldn't ask someone who's $50,000 in debt and making $12,000 a year for financial advice when someone who is a millionaire is giving you advice too... even if they are saying the exact same thing, they dont have the credibility of a millionaire.
The rank matters to a lot of people because, first and obviously, because it shows a status of skill, that person plays a shit ton of the game and he probably knows what he is talking about, they assume he has great knowledge of this games mechanics and building options etc and knows how too utilize each one of them too win games, while people usually assume the ones with lower rank are either just bad at the game, or new to the game, not knowing how to utilize the knowledge they read up or observed from pro games, and are loosing games because of that.
But mainly because people just love to be dicks and don't listen to people they think are lesser to them, even if they have a valid point, after all, why listen too a dude that is "Not skilled enough too get too diamond I" or something like that.

@@Exil22 Funny thing is, the higher people are, the more likely they seem to listen to you and at least consider what you said could be true when you are low elo. A year back when I was doing some analyst stuff for a few teams from national leagues, I noticed that whenever in any forum there are teams looking for staff, there is a kind aweird distinction between higher and lower ranks - lower meaning anything below diamond for sure, mostly up to like D2 even:
* Teams in lower brackets usually were like "looking for XY" and under requirements/qualifications there was 99% of the time some kind of "be or higher". Meanwhile, the actual hiigh tier teams that either played in national leagues or competed for spots there were usually asking for stuff like macro knowledge etc, not any ranks.
* The few teams that asked for specific rank requirements in higher elos usually wanted people with Plat+ (I think there is a common conception that below that rank you obviously don't know anythign relevant about the game or something like that) but whenever someone lower ranked would be like "hey, I'd like to work with you guys but I'm lower elo" they'd almost always ask for examples of previous work (be it for former teams or just for yourself) or give you a replay or a short part of a replay and ask you to analyse it and afterwards they'd invite you to a tryout.
* During these tryouts, exactly one time someone commented on my rank and that person just made a joke. Obviously, the players did not accept my points as truth immediately, but they'd always think about them. Sometimes they'd agree, sometimes they'd disagree but my rank never was an actual argument, whenever they disagreed, they had a valid explanation on why they think I'm wrong
* Same cna be said about actually working as an analyst while being low ranked. After a few weeks I also did a draft for them for an actual game in their league since the coach got stuck in traffic and couldn't make it in time for game 1 when befor ein similar cases the team captain would do the draft.
However, as a lower ranked person you have a much longer way to go before people will accept your advice while they are higher elo, you got way more to proof first.
It always depends on WHY you'd want people to take you seriously as a lwoer elo player. If it's only for discussions overall, chances are your best bet is to just ignore everyone who uses the elo-argument.
If you wanna become coach/analyst or wanna discuss stuff for example in champion specific reddits, talk to people there, discuss stuff, try to learn from them. For both, coach and analyst, do VOD-reviews on youtube or just keep them on your PC so you can send them together with an application. and if you feel you know... well, not everythign but you agtehred a significant amount of knowledge, just apply. Worst case in 99% of cases is either the rank-argument which can again be dismissed, or people actually tell you what you need to work on. For subreddits on specific champions you just gotta be able to explain why/when you think build B is better than the standard build A. after all, these are all people who love the same champ, what they are discussing is more like if you should put your favourite pizza in the oven for 15 or 16 minutes - you love the exact same thing, it's just about nuances to possibly make the perfect thing even better^^
Your speech at 21:50 reminded me of when the Rune Rework happened, because I had so much fun playing stupid champions. This wasn’t because they were good, but just because the enemy had no idea how to play against it. Lethal Tempo Braum Jungle was so fun to me for that exact reason. It took me back to when I first started playing.
