Funny how Achara's theory is the same as Syntell (Cinema Mosaic) 😂 That is the difference between Hollywood and Korean storytelling..Hollywood portrays black and white people. You are either good or bad. Whereas Korean storytelling portrays the full range of the human psyche. There are no pure good nor pure evil people. Good people are oftentimes pushed to do bad things because of life circumstances and the bad people were just forced to be bad because of also life circumstances. Also the gore is part of the storytelling, not just there for shock value.
I don't know, I don't think it's a Korean thing. I saw an American film the other day and even though the bad guys weren't that much fleshed out, they let you know that some of them have kids and family too and at the end of the day, are just obeying orders. But the public keeps cheering on for the good guys when they kill them because they are the good guys after all. So I just think that society (or some societies) in general tend to have a very black/white thinking.
