We are to consult God’s written Word regularly, asking the Holy Spirit to illuminate our minds to understand and apply scriptural truth. I pray before reading the Word, because I want the Holy Spirit’s help. Otherwise, it can be like reading any other book, and it’s definitely not like reading just any book. We believers, today, are so fortunate. We have the entire Word, Old and New Testaments, unlike in John’s day. There were hand copies of the Old Testament, but only the very rich had one, if they cared to have one, and typically it would be one scroll, like the Psalms or the Book of Isaiah. Most people had to be content with hearing Scripture read out loud, on the Sabbath. Even when the epistles were being written, believers had to wait for the occasional letter to come their way, to be read and then sent on to another city/church. We have a plethora of Bible translations and paraphrases, all quite affordable and accessible for most people. We really are without excuse. The saddest sight to see is a Bible with dust on it. Thanks for the teaching, Dr. g.

Christ being the Wonderful Counselor prophesied in the Old Testament , in turn foretold yet Another Counselor coming in his behalf , the Holy Spirit otherwise known as the spirit of truth...this is how that spirit shall be manifested to the world : when this spirit from the father comes-he will oppose the world and speak against the world , and convict them of all their sins...in return , this world will oppose him and speak against him for they sees him not and knew him not...but a handful shall understand and believe him because they are his few chosen ones...

Gretings, Did Jesus say: "Truth" or "Ahmed"?
In John 18 we read that Jesus' response to Pilate is: "... In fact, the reason I was born and came into the world is to testify to the truth. Everyone on the side of truth listens to me.”
Pilate didn’t get it. “What is truth?” asked he. (Verse 38)
Why Pilate did not understand the meaning of "Truth"? And why Jesus did not explain it? Or perhaps John did not write it. Interestingly the Gospel writes in chapters 14 and 16 that Jesus foretells disciples that after he is gone,"the spirit of truth" will come. This is the same "truth" Jesus testified before Pilate. One may ask: What is "truth" in Hebrew? Is there something beyond the translations? If we look at the Hebrew Bible, the OT, it will surprises us. The Hebrew word for "truth" is: אֱמֶ֔ת (eh'-meth). That sounds like a name! Yes, it does. It is Ahmed. That's why Pilate did not understand it. Because there was no such a name at the time of Jesus. Therefore, translators thought that Jesus was talking about "truth". I have written a detailed article about the matter. Please see it in the following link:
