Excellent video once again Mr B 👍👍👍
Thank you.....
I started as a bus conductor back in 1989; a year later, I did something you can't do now, I went straight from a provisional licence to passing my test first time to be a diver. the first vehicle I ever drove in my life was a routemaster, on the streets of London. Based out of Victoria garage (gone now) used to do the no11, and for overtime sometimes the 19's. Some of the best people I've ever worked with, and man did we have some great laughs.
You did a "Double L Test", nothing wrong with that, you had no bad habits to be knocked out of you, just learning the right way from day one.
How old were you? I bet you got to drive plenty of AEC originals too. Wow you were lucky.
London still with LT originals doing the heavy lifting. So glad I went there that year.
3:15 you did a 1985 vid of that spot and was still full of amazing LT bus action 14 years later. Realised one of Jon's videos was here as this woman @4;26 went right past his camera.
Good video for Metrobus lovers like me!
You loved the Metro bus? It was a heap to drive, the routemaster was so much easier.
Matter of opinion. I drove MAN Sl202s here in Australia with the same Voith Transmissions as the Metros and always enjoyed driving those while nearly all the other drivers loathed them because they were "too slow".
I have read of London bus drivers nominating Ms as their favourite.
It's all about your taste.
@@jamesfrench7299 To be honest the main thing I hated about them was that the protective screen was very poorly designed on LT, the view in the nearside mirror was terrible. I went onto drive Volvo's for grey Green in 1990-92, brand new, now that was a good bus. And yes, it is a matter of opinion, I agree.
@@toonman1892 ergonomic shortcomings aside, I loved seeing and riding them for the sound. I found their styling very agreeable to my tastes. The front looked clean and the tailight placement made for very handsome rears.
I don't know whether that was a Volvo decker or the B10M single decker you drove. I liked the marl 1 - 3 B10Ms but mark 4 on sounded more boring and were Toyotas of the bus world to me.
A lovely parade of some of Metroline (formerly MTL London)'s finest heaps. Though the First Capital Metrobuses and4:36and5:12didn't look in bad nick. Interesting contrast of the old M and the shiny new Stagecoach Trident @4:53. Nice Jaguar XJS convertible at3:05. Top down, enjoying the diesel fumes in the air 🤗
The metros were awful to drive, such a restrictive view with the screen.
I've driven Metros, more then any other single type, and never had a problem with them. After a Routemaster or RT, i like Titan's best out of 'modern' London vehicles.....
Did you get any footage of Euston fire station while you were there?
No, it was a mate of mine who like fire engines.....
Brilliant selection, driving styles definitely much different then! Metrobuses always gonna be my fav older type bus. Nice to see tho some Northern Counties and an East Lancs bodied Olympian or Trident at 04:05 !
Have you ever filmed Dundee buses ?
Only Routemasters in 1989 as seen here ua-cam.com/video/ew8qzyXHrag/v-deo.html
@@SoiBuakhaoRoutemasterbus Stunning! Thanks

Good to see!..... lol
Had any of the Holloway based routmasters on the 10 been resprayed in Metroline livery by this time?, considering it had been exactly a year since they took over from MTL London Northern!
I don't think so.... they seemed to be in no rush, i think the company was always kept short of money by the parent Comfort Delgro Group, maybe the cab business in Singapore was going through hard times?.....
@@SoiBuakhaoRoutemasterbusI've definitely seen photos of routemasters operating on the route 10 in Metroline livery that were taken in 1999. Would anybody else know?
When I started as a conductor in 1989 we used to share the 9's and 10's with I think it was Shepherds Bush (I was based out of Victoria garage, not to be confused with the bus station) . the 9's would become the 10's after rush hour was over, or the other way around, but I remember vividly we had to use our budgie keys to change the number of the bus at Oxford Circus, they went to Barnes and Mortlake back then. This is just my memory so I could be wrong but don't think I am.
@@toonman1892 I remember Victoria Garage well, along Wilton Road. They had extra staff on the Running Shift as they used to cover a lot of engineering call outs in Central London for other garages, i mean you wouldn't want a mechanic from Croydon to drive to Waterloo to jump start a bus! Of course that all fell apart with privatisation.....
@@SoiBuakhaoRoutemasterbus Lol, yes, they did the same on the 11's for example if we "broke down" on say Charing Cross road (edited, not Charing Cross road, charring Cross hospital) (in Hammersmith). I put broke down in inverted comma's because most of the break-down's were not natural. 😂🤣😂
Do you know what year the 38 moved from T to CT when the route was cut ?
I have video taken at Leyton in Feb 1990 of the 38s, and i'm sure that was just before they moved to Clapton......
