Alwyas lovely on those rare times when Kevin brings Beyonce (his cello) to the party, and his voice is always welcome. This is a tour de force by Kirsti with a brilliant arrangement that starts with her sounding so sad and beaten down with a note of desperation but then moving into a full belt as anger takes over. I love it when they stack the chord singer by singer, it just underlines how complex some the their arrangements really are. Thanks for this one!
Everytime I hear Pentatonix sing "Say Something" it brings me to tears! It is SO beautiful and SO heartwrenching! Your reaction to it was beautiful as well. I would suggest you react to their music video of 'Shallow". It is also beautiful. I look forward to seeing more of your reaction videos. Take care.
Avi is classically trained in opera. PTX covers- Can't Hold Us Wizard of Ahhs Over the River Amazing Grace Aha- Singapore The Star Vista Kevin Olusola KO ( PTX beatboxer)- Down
It is absolutely normal to be on the verge of tears when listening to this song. Kirsty in full drama mode, Avi with that great lead and then cello at the same time?
Thanks for your reaction to this stunning masterpiece! It is one of my favorites and I still get chills when I hear it. As other commenters have already told you, Kevin is beatboxing while playing the cello ("celloboxing") and he named this cello Beyonce. Kevin Olusola also has his own channel on You Tube 'KO' where he plays his electric cello that his mom named "Mr Carter". You would love his solo work starting with his cover of "Down" (don't have to cover with screen or worry about copyright blocks with Kevin's solo work on that channel).
Kevin has been playing cello since he was really young and has won contests. He started adding beatboxing and decided to explore that avenue, which was how PTX found him. He didn't sing much, but when Pentatonix moved to Los Angeles after the SingOff, Kevin and Avi shared an apartment and Avi gave Kevin some vocal lessons. Check out Kevin's UA-cam channel, KO (Kevin Olusola).
I like how you repeated the part where they came in one by one. It's one of my fave parts of this song. I also like how you reacted to Kevin's final contribution. One of the many things I like about PTX is how they emotionally portray the lyrics. Thank you for your reaction. I look forward to your future PTX reactions.
Yes a very emotional and sad song. First time they used Kevin's cello (excluding the 2 collabs with Lindsey Stirling "the Dancing Violinist"). In this case Avi is singing a melody section so the cello is covering the bass line. They also used the cello in "Dancing On My Own" after Avi left. "Fields and Pier", which is an Avi Kaplan solo work piece while still with Pentatonix, features a cello in part tuned down to him that he sings with for a bit.
Have you listened to Gold by Pentatonix yet? Try O Come all ye faithful, it’ll blow your mind. I know it’s a hymn, but it’s mind blowing and perfect and the only way it should be sung. Right now my favorite is Misbehavin, there is a live video at a radio station but not an official video. It’s so good.
Great reaction, love this song! PS: there’s Scott, Mitch, and Avi (who you know) then Kevin is the beatboxer/ most amazing talent ever! Then Kirstin is the amazingly talented queen that lead this song lol!! Anyways, good luck with everything and much love! 🥰🙏🏾❤️
You should be able to show the video portion by using a filter or similar device. That should pass copyright and still let us partially see the video portion. PTX does just a phenomenal job of being true to the original and yet making it their own through their innovations and variations.

Everything they produce is worth listening to.
There is nothing wrong with crying when beautiful music touches your heart and soul.
I was going to say "It is called Beyonce" that is the name of Kevin's Cello.

Crying is o.k. Crying is good. If you’re human, how can you not when PTX starts pulling heartstrings?

Scott has such a tendency to sing with his hands 😉in order to keep the still look he had to hold onto the chairs😄
