I'm an Iowa fan right here in Iowa City and this guy is 100% right. I have been frustrated with Iowa's Pre-Big10 schedule for years. The only way to be the best is to play the best. We need to play AT Bama, or AT Florida, or AT USC, or AT LSU. This year really stands out as a cream puff schedule because we don't play Michigan, Michigan State, Penn State or Ohio State. Seasons like this when we don't play anybody it is imperative that we schedule a much tougher schedule. Were 10-0 but I still don't know how good we are compared to anybody in the Top 10 because we haven't been tested!
As a badger fan I greatly respect Iowa's program because other than Minnesota they are our biggest rival. However, I agree with Colin when it comes to their non conference schedule. I understand that Iowa State is an in state rival and is a game where you can throw out the records but when that's your toughest non conference game most years I understand where Colin is coming from.
If you're going to argue that Iowa is not deserving of CFP consideration that is fine, but preface your argument with "I know Iowa's 10-0 has beat two ranked teams on the road, but..."
I am an Iowa fan, but he is right. I think this was not the year to complain about it. However Iowa's future ooc schedule is horrendous. Barta and Ferentz, Call BYU. They have 12 open dates a year. Call WV they have an open date in 2018. It is not that hard.
What about Michigan the last 2 years. Last year: Appalachian State, Notre Dame, Miami (Ohio), and Utah. This year, you have: Utah, Oregon State, UNLV, and BYU. Those are tough compared to Ohio State's last two year non conference cupcake schedule
What he says doesn't matter. If Iowa wins out and the big ten championship they would have beaten the tough east team and will be in the playoff. It doesn't matter if they are ranked 3rd or 7th. I don't see why there is hatred towards the Hawkeyes.
+JakeGraceAndGlory What he is saying is that Iowa never schedules anyone tough. EVER. When Ohio State scheduled VTech is 2006 they were one of the top teams in the country. Iowa, however, scheduled teams that were all pretty bad and quite frankly got lucky Pitt was as good as they were. I'm not saying I agree that Iowa should be left out of the playoff, any undefeated power 5 team should get a virtual automatic bid, but Collin has a very valid point that if Iowa wants to be looked at as an elite program they need to play elite programs. These links show the future schedules for OSU and Iowa, look for yourself. www.fbschedules.com/ncaa/big-ten/iowa-hawkeyes.php www.fbschedules.com/ncaa/big-ten/ohio-state-buckeyes.php
Ohio State dials 1-800-creampuff every year?? V tech, Hawaii, Western Michigan and NIU??? And last year v tech, Kent State, Cincy, and Navy???? I mean that has to be one of the worst non conference schedule in the FBS? And its every year.
Colin is right. Iowa needs to schedule tougher games. Oklahoma in the 12 years they play home-and-home vs Ohio State in 2016 and 2017, they play home-and-home vs UCLA in 2018 and 2019, they play home-and-home vs Nebraska, they play home-and-home vs Michigan 2025 and 2026 and they play an home-and-home vs LSU in 2027 and 2028. Maryland plays home-and home vs Texas in 2017 and 2018, at Temple in 2019 and home-and-home vs West Virginia in 2021 and 2022.
If Iowa is the credit card millionaire, then Colin Cowherd is the parking valet who changes his coat and tries to sneak into the party after he parks all the cars.
Mark my words... this is Colin's strategy: If Iowa loses a game anywhere between now and the national championship game, even if somehow it is the national championship game, Colin's response will be "See, I told you so!". If Iowa somehow pulls off the miracle and wins it all, Colin's response will be "I never said they couldn't win, I just said they scheduled easy games." Colin is one of those guys who wants to be controversial, but he also wants everyone to think he's the smartest guy in the room.
First of all, let me say this. Our OOC schedule wasn't great this year, but let's take a look at the teams that are ahead of us in the CFB playoff rankings and look at their OOC schedules this year, shall we? #1 Clemson: Nortre Dame at home (very solid) Wofford (ummm?) App State ( you mean that team that beat Michigan like 8 years ago?) #2 Ohio State: Virginia Tech (solid) Hawaii (yikes) Northern Illinois (okay) Western Michigan (yikes) #3 Alabama: Wisconsin (solid) MTSU (HA) Louisana Monroe (good one) Charleston Southern (what is this, some kind of sick joke?). What about us? Illinois State (#6 FCS team, not great but better than a bottom barrel FBS team) Pittsburgh (solid) North Texas (okay, I'll give ya that one) Iowa State (again, not great but a middle of the pack big 12 team who was just 2 and a half minutes from beating Oklahoma State. You get my point? Our OOC schedule is the same difficulty or tougher than the top 3 teams in the nation. Couple that with the fact that we beat two top 20 teams on the road including 40-10 beat down on the wildcats who beat a team that was number 7 in the playoff rankings just last week. Don't punish us because we got put in the division opposite OSU, MSU, and Michigan.
Mike Nelson well Clemson played ND is a great team so don’t know why u brought up Clemson Ohio st atleast tried to schedule a good team with va tech you can’t tell how good a team will be and for Alabama Wisconsin is a great ooc opponent and the for Iowa u think it’s some kind of accomplishment for scheduling a fcs school than Iowa st Pitt and north Texas 😂😂😂
ALABAMA NON-CONFERENCE SCHEDULE 1. Wisconsin (Good Team, but was a Series game so they really didn't choose to be in this game) 2. Middle Tennessee (aka worse than every team Iowa played this season) 3. Louisiana-Monroe (^^^) 4. Charleston Southern (Once again, ^^^) What does this mean? Iowa has a stronger schedule that we can actually choose than Alabama. So, Colin Cowshit, Alabama dials 1-800-creampuff and Iowa doesn't.
I didn't like Cowherd when he was on ESPN, but he is 100% correct. Of course Hawkeye fans are going to cry about this. I hope Iowa makes the playoffs just to watch OSU, Bama or Notre Dame destroy them. Overrated.
+Max Wooks Notre Dame is also overrated but play a much tougher schedule and would beat Iowa's ass. OSU is pretty much the same championship team as last year and would destroy Iowa. I give Iowa credit, they usually have a very good offensive line which directly leads to their success. It's not entirely their fault they play on the weaker football side of their conference (don't play Mich, OSU or MSU). As an Illinois fan I've watched Iowa struggle to beat my team, which isn't very good. The point is while some of these other teams have cake out of conference schedules occasionally, Iowa does every year.
+Max Wooks does Iowa have to go into Ann Arbor to finish the season?! I'm a Michigan fan and think they'll beat the Buckeyes to close the year, but on paper, Iowa is fraudulent and we'll all probably get to find out just how fraudulent come the big ten title game because I doubt they can beat either MSU, OSU, or Michigan.
+Mike Vick first off I didn't say either team "sucked", I said they were overrated. I believe Notre Dame is slightly overrated but much better than Iowa. That's why I said they would destroy Iowa. I suggest you grab a dictionary, learn what simple words like "overrated" mean and save the racial slurs for your living room. You have made yourself appear dumb to the entire World Wide Web.
What about Michigan the last 2 years. Last year: Appalachian State, Notre Dame, Miami (Ohio), and Utah. This year, you have: Utah, Oregon State, UNLV, and BYU. Those are tough compared to Ohio State's last two year non conference cupcake schedule

Alabama doesn't press 5, Charleston Southern?
timeout the Iowa Vs Iowa State Game is a rivalry game that is a huge deal in Iowa
Devin Poli no it's your not even Iowa States biggest rival, Kansas and Kansas State are bigger
How come Isu beat tcu and olkhoma
Garrett Greiner I bet Colin isn’t saying that about Iowa State now
Anyone outside of Iowa doesn't know how intense the Cy-Hawk game is.
Very correct. very heated rivalry always a close game
Especially now that Iowa State is good now
Yeah close games every year now
Welcome to 1-800-CreamPuff... You are Matched,Say Hello!
As an Iowa state fan, I absolutely love this.
Eric Masters they said that you were a cupcake dude, don’t fuel this guys before he goes for you guys
@@thehanson1964 Iowa state was a cup cake in 2015😂
As a badger fan I greatly respect Iowa's program because other than Minnesota they are our biggest rival. However, I agree with Colin when it comes to their non conference schedule. Some more of Ohio St. opponents Buffalo, San Diego St., Florida A&M, Kent St., and Cincinnati in 2013-2014.
Bob Keane San diego st is a good football program

Brady DC because I'm a Cyclone fan. Can't stand the Hawks
Can you remind me of Ohio State's non-conference schedule this season? Oh yea...
1. Virginia Tech
2. Hawaii
3. Northern Illinois
4. Western Michigan
Yeah except Ohio returns most of its team that crushed Alabama and Oregon last year
+yodedeyo1 Way to totally miss the point. Ohio State did not schedule Alabama and Oregon, they played them in the CFP.
+leifer25 Virginia tech is a great program. Remember how they lost to them last year?
+Anthony Berns-Leone The difference is Ohio St struggled with their cream puff schedule. This "Herd" guy is a FUCKING IDIOT.
+JakeGraceAndGlory What he is saying is that Iowa never schedules anyone tough. EVER. When Ohio State scheduled VTech is 2006 they were one of the top teams in the country. Alabama does press 5...
Keep making fun of Iowa. Watching all their fans cry is so funny. Keep it up
Iowa State can be a creampuff some years, but it's a fun rivalry game so that doesn't count.
Ohio State dials 1-800-creampuff every year?? V tech, Hawaii, Western Michigan and NIU??? And last year v tech, Kent State, Cincy, and Navy???? I mean that has to be one of the worst non conference schedule in the FBS? And its every year.
Dow Cameron What about Oklahoma for last year and this year, that's not exactly a "cream puff"
NCISfanatic21 exactly they scheduled Oklahoma 2 yeas in a row and don’t they play TCU next year
Colin, is Iowa a top tier program like Alabama and Ohio State?
Bruh 😂

😂😂
Colin, Iowa had a better nonconference schedule than Ohio State this year.
This guy for real? he must be a SEC fan lol
Iowa has beaten Michigan 4 out of last 5 games they played. Stuff It.
Mark my words... this is Colin's strategy: If Iowa loses a game anywhere between now and the national championship game, even if somehow it is the national championship game, Colin's response will be "See, I told you so!". I'm a Big 10 fan, but Cowherd is speaking the truth about Iowa.
Lol..

Iowa always has been and always will be overrated
And that’s your opinion.....and you know what they say about opinions.
9-0 baby
45-16 baby
Hey Colin, tell us about the tough football schedule you faced when you played college football.
Im an Iowa fan, and I can tell you Colin is 100% right
