Baba Chandragup is considered an avatar or manifestation of Lord Shiva. Legend has it that even if the mud volcano is dormant, if a pilgrim says 'joy baba chandragup ki joy' three times the volcano springs back to life. If you submit to baba chandra gup and accept all the crimes you have committed, baba accepts the coconut offered. However if you deny doing any wrongdoing, baba will return the offering and the bubbles will disappear. Nevertheless it is a natural wonder and phenomenon and intrigues the mind.
