This is why Roger Thorpe is the best character ever. As ruthless as he is, I felt so sorry for him here. Hearing that Maureen died was like a punch in the chest. He was the villain we all loved to hate. RIP Zazz.
I thought it was great that Mo was friends with Roger, despite his misdeeds. They always had great scenes together and she had a way of bringing him back to earth.
You're right. Maureen was about the only person who didn't think Holly walked on water at some point (and I say that as someone who loves Holly terrifically), and yet Maureen was respectful towards her.
There's that bad Mindy recast again. The Ed/Blake and Roger/Holly scenes are so good. In the later years they ignored the ties between the Bauers and Holly and Blake. I loved the friendship between Roger and Maureen, especially when poor Roger stood at her grave alone.
I felt that Maureen saw in Roger what alot of folks didn't see. A man who tried desperately to be good and do right but his evil deeds came back to him time and time again. He also knows about the pain of losing a Mother, because he lost his as a little boy.
No, I think that totally cheapens the friendship, and I'm not sure how you could even take that away from their scenes. He had a soft spot for her because she was kind to him. Honestly, part of that kindness was probably driven by her annoyance with the Holly/Ed relationship: she was more prone to defend Roger because of that to the point that she ignored a lot of his crimes haha. She was probably the one woman he actually respected, and didn't seem to view in any sexual way. And given his romantic obsession with Holly, I don't know how you could think that he was "in love" with Maureen lol. I never saw Roger give her so much as a longing look.
Roger, SERIOUSLY? Ed's wife JUST died and he's jealous? So much for his friendship with Maureen if he couldn't put aside his jealousy long enough for Holly (incidentally, Roger's VICTIM) to make sure that Maureen's husband and daughter were being looked after.
She's pregnant. She's in hiding b/c she didn't want anyone to know, and Nadine is helping b/c she wants to raise the bay with Billy (so he won't leave her for Vanessa).
roger had a " friend " in maureen she acted " human " with him 🤧 million times over I hated them killing Maureen they did it because they wanted her to act like no biggie when she would find out ed " comforted " lillian with sex after she finds a lump in her breast after that I couldn't like lillian the same .
Vanessa is so fucking hoity-toity that she couldn't be bothered to contact the university herself. Nice job the writers did knowing exactly what their characters would do. :)
Remember, it was all hush-hush--because there IS no University, and supposedly, Bridget was somewhere in the Appalachian Mountains, with no telephone service. Vanessa had no way to know how to reach Bridget. She was asking Nadine for that contact info, and Nadine, of course, intercepted the task, to keep her lie covered up.

I never hated him. I adored roger
after watching this again Michael Zaslow!! was Awesome
AHHHHH!!! This was when Guiding Light was soooooooooo gooooooood!
Poor Roger. This is how you write a villain. You have to throw in shades of vulnerability.
Roger really did care for Maureen. They're scenes together were always sweet.

Poor Roger, it killed him when Mo died.

"There's that bad Mindy recast again." That was exactly my thought, when that scene began!!
If we are talking about bad recasting, Philip's temporary replacement was equally bad or possibly more so.
I felt that Maureen saw in Roger what alot of folks didn't see. A man who tried desperately to be good and do right but his evil deeds came back to him time and time again. He also knows about the pain of losing a Mother, because he lost his as a little boy.
Heh, I've never seen that Mindy before! She's *awful*.
I think Roger was secretly in love with Maureen, but he thought she was too good for him.
She's the only one that treated him like a human being. She always tried to be kind to him, and he saw that.

@@cheetahinireland18, you hit the nail on the head.
Impostor Mindy!
This was the worst Mindy
Bridget looks so much like Nola. She also had a lot of her ways.
Ann Hamilton as Mindy...(worst recast ever) plus Nadine is a bit of a slimeball for hiding Bridget,

Aww, he was lashing out, nothing more.
Stone Cold Holly: "Maureen Bauer was killed in a car crash."
I think she was in shock by the news. She wasn't stone cold.
They didn't entirely ignore the relationship. Holly did kidnap Michelle's kid, after all. ;)
She's pregnant. She's in hiding b/c she didn't want anyone to know, and Nadine is helping b/c she wants to raise the bay with Billy (so he won't leave her for Vanessa).
This Mindy... Smh.
She makes Barbara Crampton look good!

Can you imagine Maureen and Roger it would've been a truly tragic romance given MZ dying of ALS.
wait...what was the secret?
Bridgette was pregnant. Nobody but Nadine knew.

Icy cold, Holly, icy cold.
Not cold, just stunned and in shock.
