Character models in some scenes still look a little plastic. But otherwise, this looks phenomenal. I can't wait to see some horror games made on the new engine.
This is probably because the engine doesn’t focus on the people but more the environment. I haven’t fully researched but it seems to me almost everything was about the environment and making it more realistic with lumens real time raytracing plus giving unlimited poly count. I could be wrong but other than meta human I haven’t seen anything in the engine to improve on human models and animation especially for cut scenes. They have a real time action animation system but that is just in response to environment and players actions.

2:55 - Superimposed Keanu's leg brushing aside the corner of bullet-time Keanu's flapping trench coat was a cheeky piece of retconned CGI brilliance! 😲
Idk graphical progress is slowing down, and it has been since the first 3D games came out. The limit is less so what we know we can achieve with technology, it’s what the gamers can afford and what hardware manufacturers can reasonably expect to sell to the market. The jump from the 90s to early 2000s was huge, and then 2000s to early 2010s was huge too… but after that, the changes get more gradual. The next generation probably won’t look hugely better than this one.
@@tacosmexicanstyle7846 I disagree. I think graphics engineers just haven't fully utilized real time bounce lightning & convolutional networks in real time rendering and animation, since its in its infancy stage. On the surface it looks like we haven't progressed tooo much, but under the hood we just entered an exponential curve. But yeah that said, we are relatively close to genuine photorealism so its going to be hard to notice much of a difference as spectators. I think the main thing holding us back is animation. There are only a few savants out there like Chris jones making genuinely realistic facial animation, but it isn't real-time yet. *also body animation, still looks somewhat stiff
its also insane that every single room in buildings are actually 3D, and not just 2D placeholders. and vehicles are not prerendered and disappear, rather they stay on the map infinitely
The rooms are all parallax shaders. Every room is a single object and not multiple put together like most games. The objects inside are all 2d textures that look 3d from a distance. The rooms inside can't ray trace light from the global illumination since they aren't true 3d rooms. Fun fact: All the dark windows are the same shaders and this can be observed if you get directly against the window and look at it from different angles.

The game starts off with visuals so realistic it looks like it's just Keanu greenscreened into the movie... then it becomes interactive and you realise "wow... technology sure is something..." XD
14:28 "This feels like a real city too" as he walks between two buildings clipping into each other. It's stil incredibly impressive and most of the layout was auto-generated, so slight bugs like this one are to be expected.

Best way to describe the graphics: it looks like an early 2000s cgi for a movie but now it's playable
@@Giovfunny you might want to re-watch the early 2000s cgi movies
@@thedoodoobrain8944 yeh its more like late 2000s. and depending on the movie
@@Giovfunny Yeah, my thoughts exactly
This is probably because the engine doesn’t focus on the people but more the environment. I haven’t fully researched but it seems to me almost everything was about the environment and making it more realistic with lumens real time raytracing plus giving unlimited poly count. I could be wrong but other than meta human I haven’t seen anything in the engine to improve on human models and animation especially for cut scenes. They have a real time action animation system but that is just in response to environment and players actions.

@MGTOW Entrepreneur haram! don't say that because you are not the one who control of the heavens all the way to the earth! it is Allah who judge and his judgment is JUST!
I love how the game is so meta that is makes you wonder whether the graphics are alive action or just REALLY good graphical rendering.
Still can't believe only 8 years ago we all thought Battlefield 4 looked like real life. But this? This is just nuts.
Judging by how fast we went from no computers to phones of today, it's been going really slow these last 10 years.
@@Schmorgus I don't think the progress of technology these past 10 years are slow, but the fact that a lot of them are controversial makes it kinda hard to publicly show the said progress (people are afraid of VR, ultra realistic deepfakes, etc. Hell, there are lots of people who are afraid of this tech demo).

You can go into settings and turn the green filter off, and also “move the sun” and play with the shadows but he didn’t even go into the settings

WOW. The actual environment looks so freaking real! I'm not sure if I didn't know what I was looking at if I would think it was real or not. I didn't think games could look better than uncharted 4

Well they saved it
they are making a new game called cyberpunk orion and it is being developed on unreal engine 5 and considering they have learned from the mistakes of their last game i think it will be what cyberpunk 2077 was supposed to be and it will definitely be one of the best games of all time if done right
If you turn off the Matrix filter it looks wayy more real. Pretty much indistinguishable, especially from the air.

2:55 - Superimposed Keanu's leg brushing aside the corner of bullet-time Keanu's flapping trench coat was a cheeky piece of retconned CGI brilliance! 😲
Can't wait for a decade to pass and say "Dem we had bad graphics back in 2021."
If you judge a game based on graphics your tapped in the head
@@Workrategetschingy yeah. Even some text-based games are better than games with awesome graphics
This is just wrong. Graphics aren’t going to get so good they have a limit
@@atticusdoyle4667 its funny how they use tech that evolved from the nineties and blind people scream "ooh its full 3d, all rendered" ... "no, its not you silly...." xD - also whole tech revolution of ue5 aged like fine milk, sadly.
