@@YBKHEAAAT Yeah, I never really understood that plot point. If Ikkaku’s Bankai ever got revealed, it’s not like he’d be forced to become a captain. After all, Renji’s Bankai is common knowledge and he wasn’t forced to become a captain when Aizen, Gin and Tosen defected, right?
@@eon1014 The biggest motivator of Ikkaku hiding his bankai wasn't just the possibility of reassignment but also that Kenpachi didn't have a bankai. At the start they assumed Kenpachi's Zanpakutou is permanently released in Shikai so Ikkaku does not wish to one-up his captain and limits himself to shikai unless no one is looking Too bad his bankai is also brittle as fuck (which does match his self destructive tendencies)
