    For all the love I have for open wheel cars I'm ashamed to say I've never driven the Indycar 😅 I need to give it a go as you're another I've seen who speaks so highly of it.

      Please do! Would love to see it on your channel. That car is such a joy to drive!
      It’s oval for this week, but back to road course next week at Mugello

      I tried it in test drive, it feels mich better on street tracks than the SF23. I'd say SF23 is better on everything Grade A, while Indycar can handle the bumps, hugh curbs etc better

      I've started watching your channel quite a bit and I am surprised you haven't driven the IndyCar! DRIVE IT DRIVE IT DRIVE IT you gotta try it out! IndyCar is in a huge boom period on iRacing ever since they re-established their license with the series; there are three weekly series, a year-long full-length race series that follows (as closely as iRacing can) the real schedule, and of course the Indy 500. I would love to see you try out the oval side in particular. But regardless of track type, I think it's the most rewarding car to drive on iRacing; really makes you feel like you've truly earned your result at the end of a race. Also, it has a great community around it. I'm always a bit disappointed in how toxic some of the drivers are in F4, F3, now Super Formula Lights... You'll hear fewer shouting matches over voice chat in IndyCar.

    I started iRacing expecting to get in to the sports cars, turns out I was going to prefer the open wheel cars so much more.
    They're very fragile, but they take up less space, they turn on a dime and they feel so connected to the road.

    Great video. I'm just mastering the F4 car for now but just as you said in the video it's a matter of time before looking for something faster and less chaotic during online sessions. Definitely super formula lights after this.

    This is very helpful. I've been focused almost exclusively on GT3s for the last couple of years and thinking of dipping my toes into formula cars. This will help me focus on one series.

    I wish the W12 still had a series running it. I go back to that car and the laps just flow man. I start off saying I’ll just do a five lap stint and next thing I know I’ve been driving it for two hours.

    At the entry level, still nothing beats the old good USF2000. It is very agile, not too much downforce so it requires a delicate touch and good feel. and smoothness Unlike the F4 and even more the SFL, where you can just throw the car around hit the throttle all the way, and the grip and downforce will almost always save you. Plus the driving standards in the USF officials are pretty decent.

    Great video! I recently went back to Iracing and still haven't done a single race on it. I just got lost in all the content and did not know where I should focus on. I do GT3 on ACC and I am also on LMU and AC for other classes, but I wanted to do some open wheel racing. This video helped me to understand what content to get

    Your opinions are correct, sir! Especially regarding the IndyCar.
    Although people shouldn't be so quick to stop with the old F3 car. Its still a great car to drive and race. If you own it, no reason to stop racing it!

      FF1600 is super fun on smaller tracks, especially in VR. I regularly do the rookie series for that reason. On bigger tracks like those in D class it tends to get boring imo.

    • @theonlylolking
      @theonlylolking 4 місяці тому

      People that like formula style dont usually rank FF1600, Vee, or Skip barber because while they are formula style they do not drive like the faster formula style racecars. If you follow F4 to F1 then there is a gradually similar progression. Same with Open Wheel D (USF 2000) to IndyCar. However if you go to FF1600 or Skip Barber then to Formula Lights then it is basically alien.

    I've just returned to iRacing and I've gone and bought the F4 because the FF seems to be cursed with rain so far this season. I am in love with this car! New car, new track and 15 laps in I'm 4 seconds off the pace at Mugello. I can feel the car has so much more to give. I'm excited to get to know this car and the racecraft it will teach me

    • @andrewflemming5071
      @andrewflemming5071 4 місяці тому

      FF is getting guinea pigged for rain; iracing staff said something like this on the forums

  • @nmarchese
    @nmarchese 5 місяців тому

    I know it's super old, and participation is not huge, but the skip barber is still an all time favorite of mine.
    And I'd mention the ff1600 as an even more entry level option before f4. I know it doesn't have any downforce, but it is still classified as formula, and it's also already hosting ranked sessions in the rain!
    Otherwise, agree with everything here! Keep up the great work Ben!

    • @russnelson8867
      @russnelson8867 5 місяців тому

      I agree. The Skip Barber has slipped in participation because of all of the newer formula cars, but it has a loyal base and the racecraft is above-average.

  • @drchtct
    @drchtct 5 місяців тому +2

    Little correction: Indycar is not quicker than the Super Formula. SF23 is the second fastest open wheeler itw right now, behind F1 of course. Also the closest it comes regarding driving style, Indycar is.. Indycar, different breed, more geared towards street circuits and ovals.
    I'd recommend the Super Formula to everyone over the SFL and Indycar. It's the closest you come to racing an F1 car, incredible fun, high potential for a skill gap due to the throttle control, only car that is truly nimble allowing insane moves. SFL is also fun but a bit boring compared to the SF.

    • @Ben_LaBroca
      @Ben_LaBroca  5 місяців тому

      Ooo thanks man - I thought it was marginally quicker but stand corrected! Definitely a good point re SF and the similarities to F1.

    F4 would be a fantastic series if it was at least C class. My A license is at risk after a weekend of racing in it, it is MISERABLE.
    iRacing has got to make people learn basic safety before graduating Rookies. That isn't too much to ask.

  • @tahirballikaya213

    I like the Ir18 but dislike the fact that half of the schedule is oval racing. I wished one of the series was road only.

    • @theonlylolking
      @theonlylolking 4 місяці тому

      Open Wheel D and C have more road than oval, but C is harder to drive than IndyCar though you can always crank up downforce regardless of if you want to be on pace. Better to first finish than not finish at all.
