I've had my pair since January 2012 and worn them every day since, so much so that the logo on the lens has begin to wear away, other than that, they're built like a tank, I love them!
In the original Blues Brothers movie, Elwood was not wearing Wayfarers, or even Ray-Bans. No-one knows what they were, not even on the deepest of sunglasses forums. Jake's shades are Wayfarers but are not black; they're translucent tort with green lenses. RB2140 are the best value in sunglasses; Handmade in Italy with Italian acetate and crystal glass lenses. If you don't like the pantoscopic tilt, then choose Wayfarer Ease.
Just for information I purchased a pair in 1983 and they have the BL logo on the lenses. Back in the nineties the frame broke at the hinge and I had them re framed by B&L in London Road Kingston Upon Thames Surrey UK. The frame reads Wayfarer on left arm and B&L Ray-Ban USA on right arm. This has not been mentioned in other videos.
I agree! I just bought my third same pair well no, this time I decided to go back to the original Cadillac tail fins angles! they are for us, for the movie stars, also Jack Nicholson made me a fan
I have these In prescription sunglasses with mirrored lenses made in Italy! They also sent me the original lenses they popped out. So if the script changes I can turn. Them back into regular sunglasses
Pretty informative, but vintage B&L 5022s don't go for $1,300. I got mine for 84 euros (about 100 USD) and they're in great condition. Maybe ones that were never used and still with original stickers could get that much, but doubtful.
I personally think they're too small for a mans face. Plus the frames look like an extremely nerdy style of sunglasses. The average man wouldn't be a fan of these. However, the tinted lenses and glossy frames are admirable. Bottomline is I'd buy a pair of the Justin's anyday over these.
True. The average man today is pretty feminine, especially in America. It takes a real man, a handsome hairy chested man to look great in these glasses
You guys are either: A) Tapout shirt and white sunglasses dudes. B) Mad because they don’t look good on you. C) Too young and/or media illiterate to vibe with the cultural touchstones that made them cool in the first place.

Very interesting to learn all this about Ray Ban, and we finally get a glimpse at the producer in his own RayBan's ;)
I bought today ray ban 2140901/5850 polarized and these sunglasses are amazing
I have multiple pairs. Original and classics.
54mm are perfect

What you and everybody misses is the design of the Wayfarer today is not the original design
Thanks for the information. I love my RB2132 but most loved on is Original Wayfarer RB2140.

Can you please tell me why in hollywood movies there’s no ray ban logos on the glasses?
Probably because ray ban is not paying for the exposure..so no brand marketing allowed
What kind of blade is that ? Looks hella cool

Haha there is a channel on UA-cam that only talks about vintage ray bans and he sells them on his website sometimes for 500 dollars.
@@pistachiosandpopcorn7146i love my 5022s tortoiseshell, they have chew marks but the lenses are still good. love em. feel substantial.
wow!!!! defenitely didn't know that
What do you think of the RB 4340 Wayfarers with no tilt?
I have these in tortoise shell with blue graduated lenses, love them
BORING the tilt is the big deal
Great video, except if you look in the right places, vintage wayfarers can be had for less than a new pair depending on condition.
what are these "right places"
What about the 5022?
i have a set of 5022s i got in 1990
I got this exact looking one, but non-polarized.
this is 50mm?
Are vintage wayfarers really selling for that kind of cash? I have 3 pairs. The 5022,5024 and the wayfarer 2 all B&l USA made.
love my 1990 5022 tortoiseshell.
The lens is glass or polycarbonate
I have the original ray ban wayfarers the ones tom cruise wore in risky business
No tilt

theyre for fat nerds like me. i also need a fedora and a white van.
Not as cool as the avaitors
Depends what you’re going for. Wayfarers make you look leaned back and cool, aviators make you look badass and like you take no shit.
True. But once you get the aviators then you want a pair of wayfarers. Aviators are absolutely the top dog of sunglasses IMO.
for me aviators are not as cool as original wayfarers
You are so wrong I can't stand it! Aviators are the best sunglasses!
