To the comments saying spoilers. I understand you want to be spoiler free & I try keep things generic. This is just an extended version of the release cinematic of Inarius beefing with lilith.
dude Im just here to see what people think about the story, but you dont seem to understand that you have MANY subs that watch your videos because of how you tell diablos lore. They are NOT here to watch every cinematic of the game that they want to experince themself. Every single thumbnail and title of these videos spoils it for them and you dont seem to care at all.
@@bastalam tbf its not about the entire cuscene. The spoilers are in the title and the thumbnail and if you are subscribed to him it will hit you in teh face
@floundblacky1331 I understand that and can't say anything about other clips, but this one just says A vs. B. How is that a spolier? Maybe the wrong clip to post this. I'm not subbed yet, so I'm not sure if he posted any other that is a giveaway. Also, tbh the game is live, so it's fair game at this point as other sources will upload this too.
I was always impressed with what the humans were capable of in this battle. They held their own as long as they felt like Inarious was there to protect them, even though by the look of it he really didn't do a lot to help them, since all he was worried about was Lilith, and getting back to Heaven. It's unfortunate that their spirit broke when Inarious fell. Maybe one of these days the humans of Sanctuary will realize what they are capable of on their own, and not rely on the power/protection of an angel or a demon to lead them.
The overwhelming regret and sorrow in Inarius' voice as he stabs Lilith, and then the mental breakdown he has when he realizes he'll never be allowed in Heaven again is S-tier. Such a great voice actor!
Also got a love how Lilith tried as hard as she could to make Inarius see the obvious and help him, but the moment he brushed off Rathma without a hint of remorse was the moment she knew that he was beyond saving.
@@Blain260686 After the cutscene the characters say they think it refers to Inarius wounding Lilith, so that makes sense. Personally, I think they misinterpreted the prophecy, a common trope in prophecy, to mean Lilith.
@@he-mememan359 Yeah, it's Inarius that hates Sanctuary/mortals, not Lilith. Lilith is more like indifferent, she doesn't care about mortals but she won't go out of her way to help/destroy them either. She just sees them as tools.
The man killed his son and tried to kill the mother of his child. I'm surprised how the characters thought after seeing this that the prophecy was still about Inarius stabbing Lilith, rather than Lilith stabbing Inarius, "then came a spear of light, piercing Hatred's heart", Inarius didn't stab Lilith through the heart with the spear of light but rather the belly, Lilith did stab Inarius in the heart. Inarius was the heart filled with hatred, hatred for Lilith, Hatred for his son, for Sanctuary, for mortals, for himself, and for the choices he made.
A truly sad ending for the father of sanctuary 😞 He’s such an interesting character, let’s see if he’s reborn as a new angel or if his light is imprisoned in hell forever
Inarius was.. Kind of a disappointment.. I expected a wise angel, who'd be conflicted.....He is literally "Michael" the arch angel from "Supernatural."...Just wants to satisfy "someone" with what he thinks they want.
@@mrdrebin123 that's the point. Inarius is fixated on Heavens and his faith in it. But many times "faith is blind" Ironic isn't it? Light often blinds, but in darkness you can find knowledge many will despise
@@mrdrebin123 Indeed, said something similar myself when commenting on another thread here about why I thought his "repentance" wasn't accepted by Heaven. "Personally, I think if anything would have done it, it wouldn't have been a sense of hatred and being a victim of the consequences of his own choices. Maybe, maybe if he had looked at his son, at Lilith, at mortals, and Sanctuary, not as abominations he hated, but as souls that had to suffer the consequences of his sin, maybe if he felt remorse for what his decisions inflicted upon them, instead of what those choices cost himself. Even Lilith, yes she is a demoness, with all the flaws of one, which he knew full and well when he decided to join with her, hating her more than he loved her for things he knew of her before he bonded with her, making a child he that he considered a failure, his own failure, not his son's, the fact that these choices he made caused these mortals he hated for weak and easily corruptible to be such. Maybe if he accepted his responsibility in all of these this, maybe that would have been different."
It's one of the cooler aspects of Diablo in my opinion. Angel's aren't just people with wings, but they aren't terrifying monstrosities like the demons, they're beings of light and sounds who technically lack a physical form, on top of it just being a cool design it gives them a distinction when compared against demons.
Blizzard, for all their missteps, have always owned the cinematic game, and this shows they're still at the top. This may be the best cinematic I've seen from them, ever. Absolutely incredible.
Blizzard gets hardcarried by the art/storytelling (important: not writing it, TELLING it) teams. Has been the case for like a decade at this point. Even if the game is bad, the art team pulls you in/keeps you in
Say what you want about Prava, but that praying in the middle of battle on the front lines, that devotion, fanaticism, having nothing but complete faith, or lunacy whatever you wanna call it, was badass. Brilliant writing
@@mohandave5825 did anyone say it was? no, but getting on your knees and praying while a hoard of demons is rushing towards you looks crazy in the eyes of less faithful people
@@mohandave5825 It was a lunacy in sense she did not and refused to see they were all deceived by Inarius. I love this scene, because it shows power that faith can carry, but also how fragile it is when its based on a lie. "Open my eyes blinded with your light now"
@@he-mememan359 - I'm of the opinion he was never let into heaven because intentions were not pure. He did not want to “Just be in the Heavens” he had some anterior motive for getting there. Which explains while lilth was able to manipulate the hatred in his heart.
Prava's fanaticism almost winning on sheer faith over the forces of hell was incredible. Then it all turning on itself when Inarius dies, just incredible
@@themissingpeace7956 I'm sure they did, you just don't get to see it. It would probably be to graphic. I remember watching the trailer and being annoyed by this fanatic walking on lava, kneeling in front of a line of pikes and generally being unbelievable. So it's enjoyable to see the moment of fear in her face as she gets a very believable ending.
"You belong in Hell!" -Lilith She's not wrong, anyone that would kill their own son for selfish means is heading there 100%! Lilith deserves like a Best Demon award!
I like how consistently vile Lilith is. If I had to chose between the two I would chose Lilith more often than Inarius, but there is no denying it that she goes all the way up to 11 when it comes down to spiteful punishment. She does this with Donan and does it with Inarius. I'm kinda sad we defeated her 'so quickly' actually. But made sure I paid her back in full too, as I was "tormenting her" with bear puns the entire time I was mauling her.
One detail I like is when he charges and she turns towards him she puts her hands to the side presenting her bare abdomen in a "Here I am. Take your shot." kind of gesture. Maybe she felt that if he could kill her she would be at peace with it, but if he failed she was going to kill him. So she didn't even try to resist. Just welcomed either outcome after learning of her child's death.
I think she wanted to prove to him one final time that he's never getting to heaven again, but he was so consumed by madness at that stage it was pointless.
@Iceman Chambers I feel like it's to drive home the point that the Angiris Council and heaven in general is full of stuck up assholes. Tyrael was the only one to truly give a shit about humanity, even more than Inarius since Inarius feared the race of people that he literally fathered.
im sad about how their relationship ended, they wanted to make a place where deamon and angel can live in peace without the eternel conflit, and yet the eternal conflit came to their safe place and it leaded to break their couple
The eternal conflict wasn't what destroyed their safe place. When the Demons and Angels who made humanity saw how powerful their children were many wanted to destroy them. Lilith, in a mad frenzy, murdered angel and demon alike for contemplating such a thing. Inarius sealed her away as a result.
@@music79075 Yes and no I think? After Lilith and Inarius disappeared, the angels and demons started to look for them. They could've let them go and continue fighting but they didn't. This shows that no matter who disappears to find happiness outside the conflict, whether there are powerful children or weak "food" children, they will be forced back into the conflict and said children will be harmed. Lilith predicted this and birthed strong children and strengthened them to end the conflict so that she may have that peace (and thereby granting Inarius's alleged dream of ending the conflict). Whether it's Inarius's pride/jealousy towards his own children or his desire to stand on top of everything, he's the key as to why her plan initially failed-the reason why Sanctuary is close to being destroyed and why the (nephilim, now) human children are suffering. "Prime Evil" Inarius sounds about right. Lilith's killing of angels and demons to protect her children is par for the course of motherhood. It's a very emotional act that you wouldn't expect from an angel let alone a demon-emotion not found in immortal beings. Lilith is 100% different from demons and angels-a real being that can and will care for the nephilims/humans (as long as they'll accept her)! And if you really want to argue that "they're more powerful", the same could be said about Anu and Tathamet. Why didn't the angels and demons unite to kill them both? That's just an excuse to "justify" killing including them in the endless struggle. Screw angels, screw demons!!
@@music79075 is wanting to kill your children not considered conflict? You sound like you’re nitpicking and just wanted to show you can read a wiki page. 🤨🙄
Damn ... Inarius had ZERO ring rust. Imagine what a beast he was in the Eternal Conflict, he smashed that balrog easily. Wish there were a bit more battle scenes but these cutscenes are expensive and take time. The knights never ever had to fight at close quarters until they lost hope. The fallen never breached the phalanx before that, must have been hot there, those knights were mentally strong. All that armor and then the uber hot lava plus fireballs raining down? I wonder how much size the armies were on each side? 5000 knights vs god knows how much demons probably. It was probably a suicide mission anyways for them, if they didn't have enough manpower to secure the rear and flanks they would be cutoff, no supply. They hoped for a quick decimation and rout of the demon army. All Inarius cared for was killing Lilith and then ascending, and he would have left them all alone, he just used prava and the knights as a pawn while secretly hating them, calling them an abomination, he was always a selfish git and an arse as Lorath said. Interesting the demons are not as mindless as portrayed and do have fear and hesitation. Yes I like details, I am a nerd.
I thought the same, what if there weren't enough troops to fight the demons. But, I also had in mind that if inarius was right, and killing Lilith would grant him entrance to heaven, he would of just left leaving all humans in hell. Just to be overwhelmed. Astaroth would of been in hell by that point, capable to lead the demons against the humans.
in terms of fighting once he is confident he cant lose , its only when someone talks shit out of him does he actually lose , he never lost a battle in pure skill or power
@@deepaksingh-ku9uf@deepaksingh-ku9uf yeah Lilith had to beat him mentally. She let him stab her so he would ease up then she fucked with his head more till he let his guard down. As Diablo said the trap that has lest is sprung.

@@gamongames Nah, this is some trashy, generic hollywood plotting by Diablo 4. They had so much time to work on a good story and this is what they give us? I like diablo when it had more of a horror theme than this hollywood action stuff How many times have we seen this type of scene before? *The main protagonist and antagonist and their armies wage war on each other and then the two go fight on the side and then one of them gets stabbed/hurt and "dies" to then come back and be victorious*? I bet I must have seen that type of scene more than 20 times already by Hollywood.
I was hoping there was a cinematic flashback on the torture and escape of Inarius. Don’t know where to put it but that would be a good point to firmly establish how his mind must have gone crazy.
In the end it was the piece of his being that mourned and grieved for the children he had forsaken that brought him low in the pursuit of a home that had long since shut their gates.
This whole scene… I don’t know whether to call Inarius Hypocritical or just a flat out idiot, but I know it’s ironic: Inarius deceived his whole following into thinking he was the hero who was destined to save them all and end the dark times, rewrote a prophecy even HE didn’t even understand to suit his own purposes and feed his own ego and arrogantly deluded himself into thinking that by killing Lilith, his fellow angels would let bygones be bygones and he could come home, no strings attached. Lilith, on the other hand saw the writing on the wall as clear as day and spoke the absolute truth the whole time that neither Heaven or Hell wanted either of them back after the stunt they pulled with the worldstone and creating Sanctuary, she was only allowed back in hell after she made a deal with Astaroth, one of the few remaining demon generals of high enough rank to still have “The Keys to the Yard” so to speak, and she was absolutely right that Inarius’ murder of Rathma accomplished NOTHING in the long run but rob Lilith of her beloved son and the Heavens didn’t care anyway, cause WAY long before things even reached that point, Inarius was dead to them for creating Sanctuary in the first place. Lilith is the one trying to empower humanity so that when the lords of hell do return, they can adequately defend themselves. Inarius had already considered them failures and given up on all of them and used and abused them into helping him get himself and HIMSELF ALONE back into the High Heavens and whatever happened to them afterward? He didn’t care. He was home. And as for the prophecy, HE DIDN’T EVEN PIERCE HER IN THE FRICKIN’ HEART LIKE IT SAID! I apologize in advance if this sounds callous, but Inarius is like a super powered deadbeat dad who’s trying to bail on child support while Lilith is stuck at home trying in her own dark way to give her kids a better future at any cost. The only ones I pity here are Prava and the Knights Penitent. I personally don’t fault them for any of this, in fact THEY’RE as just as much victims of Inarius’ lies as anyone else. I believe they were genuinely good people who desperately wanted to see the light at the end of the tunnel just as much as anyone else in Sanctuary, but he used them, filled them with false hope and when the time came he marched them all to their deaths for a plan that was from the very start doomed to failure and robbed Sanctuary of possibly it’s most effective and remaining protectors while Hell’s armies are free to run around the world almost unopposed. Inarius had his fate coming, but what he shouldn’t have done is drag people who believed in him because of a cause based on a lie, and people HE DIDN’T EVEN CARE ABOUT ANYMORE down with him. It only causes unnecessary tragedies like this and robs people of their real heroes and they deserved better than what they got here: hearing the death screams of their god and being left alone without hope, faith and a way out. Lilith was right. Inarius BELONGED in Hell.
Inarius was given away by the Angiris council, left to be tortured in Hell by Mephisto for eternity, and he wants to go back to heaven, why? The reason he was arrogant in the Sin War trilogy is because he felt like the master of his own domain with Sanctuary, as far as we can tell he is back in exactly that position with no explanation/context and until Lilith arrives, with no one to contest him. Why would he want to go back to Heaven? The prophecy itself would be deeper if it was the midpoint of the story, not the end, with more context for Rathma, Inarius and Lilith... Honestly as soon as I saw this cinematic teased I knew D4 has wasted it's narrative potential, I'm just incredibly disappointed.
I was NOT expecting him to out-right be murdered when I first saw the glimpses of this cinematic. I really thought he would just abandon them to chase Lilith, but to see them lose hope when they hear him die, and then be overrun by demons was gut wrenching. Honestly, I'm not sure how I feel about the ending with Lilith dying (isn't she just gonna be reborn in hell) and Mephisto being trapped (maybe he's gonna be free again?) and what about his brothers? Are their spirits reforming in their own realms too? I waited so damn long to get to this part and I blitzed to see it for myself in game. But now I'm kinda not sure how I feel about it.
@@dospasma I just can't shake the feeling that it's all - it will make sense when we make the rest of the continent/world accessible and when we follow up on the story of Neyrelle. The cliffhanger doesn't bother me, but the main game as it is now doesn't have a satisfying arc and honestly they put so much effort into the cinematics, the voice acting, all the supporting cast, the themes, to just waste it on a poorly executed main narrative. I will always think of what could have been a much better story ...

You can take that to the bank. No cinematic ever has felt so much like we were part of a movie and got to witness something truly awe inspiring. Loved what they did. This just tells the story. Anyone can watch this and be able to create a reaction to it. As a military vet, a current soldier, a holy person, someone who is a parent and so many other things. It is emotionally there. Best cinematic I have ever seen. Almost 40 years of gaming here.
4:52 "tell me.... Did they rejoice? " That indicates the sorrow and anger of a Mother for the loss of her child coming out like the gases comes out from a Caldera almost imperceptibly and silently before the lava explodes out violently. The calmness that enchants nature before the storm. And in this case, it's The Demon Mother of the highest echelon.
The cinematography is just amazing... The shot of Lilith's demon wings behind Inarius before he's stabbed and the damned souls "claiming" his molten remains... So evocative and amazing. Blizzard cinematic team never fails.

"...Silence is their judgement" Such an amazing line for such an amazing concept, the writers really did a 10/10 with Lilith. Edit: Also, i wanna say that, after a second thought, Faith is something quiet. It is something that you have to believe until the very last moment, something that Inarius, an arcangel, didn't. But a simple priest did, curious.
Well it's because that faith was in the falsehood Inarius perpetuated throughout Sanctuary to hide the fact that he was weakening the people of Sanctuary because nephilim were a threat to the high heavens (at least they thought so because everything is about those fart sniffers)
Because Inrius clinged to hope that if he would set things right by killing Lilith and their creation, the heavens would accept him once again- even when Imperius did not even speak to him anymore. He basically chased empty hopes, which ended in his downfall, as his world shattered when he supposedly killed Lilith, and Heavens did not answer. The priest and the holdiers fought for the humanity valiantly against hell, awhile the god entity in their eyes, Inasirus chased his own goals. If he stood with the mortals and repeled the hordes of demons, they would aid him with Lilith and then, he would be still depressed, but at least, alive.
@@janchada710 the only problem with that is the high heavens don't like sanctuary or humans so him standing by human probably wouldnt work either its just like lilith says, they basically cast him out the moment they made sanctuary and there was no going back regardless of what inarius did.
@@Yukaze89 But if Inarius sided with nephalem and pushed back into hell, wouldn't it be only benefical for High Heavens to join the conflict and end hell once for all? I mean, we still have to see what is going on at the High Heavens, as we did not have single word of them in D4. Perhaps they all died to covid and couldn't answer Inarius's plea for help.
"A spear of light pierces hatred's heart". Inarius became the embodiment of hatred thanks to mephisto and everything that happened between him and Lilith. I'm really disappointed there was no flashback cinematics to his torture or his relationship with Lilith. They missed a massive opportunity to clear that up. I don't think he's dead though, the light going down the spire should represent his fall to hell.
I swear I fucking love this game. The campaign is so much fun, so many amazing parts during the game and oh my… upon entering hell is literally one of the best gaming moments I ever had. That entire part is just so much fun and this cutscene is fucking godlike, probably the best cinematic I’ve ever seen
Inarius vs Lilith is beyond epic. Shes a succumbs, her power lies in the sharpness of her tongue, not the sharpness of her claws. And thats how she achieves victory. Well done.
The emotions that broiled in me when Lilith says "And our son?" and Inarius answers with something heartless then she "sighs." Truly wonderful voice acting from both VAs.
The attention to detail is exquisite. For the first part of the battle, the Nephalem fight in a way that truly reminds us that every other faction in this lore fears them. But when Inarius falls, their spirits fall and with them their fighting ability fades. That's a reminder that the Nephalem have yet to realize their potential, and that their only real chance of survival is for someone to protect them until that potential is known. This is just so sad. The only two individuals who made a truly good faith effort to end the Great Conflict properly, and look what's happened to them.
They’re not the Nephalem, they’re just soldiers of the cathedral of light. I’ll stand corrected but the Nephalem are children of angels and demons and player characters of Diablo 3
@@Mystrohan bang on, and it’s misleading too since they’re such capable warriors and we’re used to npcs/humans being the most useless in combat ever haha.
The deepest hatred comes from the purest love... Lilith could not have done what she did if there was not a piece of her that still loved Inarius. In this act she avenged their son... and released the mad angel from his delusions.
She gave inarius one last chance. she embraced the stab from inarius. inarius broke his own vow of never harming lilith, and that was the last straw that broke the camel's back.
I thought that it was gonna cut like how it was like in the trailer, but when I saw that the big demon blocked it and Inarius did whirlwind, I got the chills. What a great game. Hope the future of this game is bright
@@bishyassss9586 first of all she lost (also in a lame way btw) and turned out to be completely useless but now whats wrong with the writing? Whats wrong?? Everything. Starting with the build up that lead to nowhere, inarius being absolutely empty and lame character and also dying in the lamest way possible doing a ridiculous Oberyn move, ending with lilith doing absolutely nothing, dying like voldemort (again lack of creativity) and receiving no real karma/punishment she deserved from both heaven and hell because of her plot/gender armor. There is a reason we are never shown female characters in massive defeat and physical pain... Thats just quick few examples.
The Prophecy said, a spear of light pierce Hatred's heart... But Inarius aimed at Lilith's stomach instead... Now I see why the prophecy didn't come true 😂
Well it did come true. Metaphorically. Inarius was the one in the end, consumed by hatred. He killed his own son and wouldn't hesitate to eradicate humankind, to undo his "mistakes". And he is the one getting pierced by his own spear.
Wasn't Rathma Lilith's heart. He was killed by stabbing in the heart. Or a metaphoric stab in the heart, Inarius' pride and self centered nature-like a spear, pierced Lilith's heart when he said Sanctuary is an abomination and he has to destroy it to undo him mistakes.
@@marisbury Mephisto was in metaphoric chains, weakened and captive in hells then inside his blue soulstone which the girl might shatter or push into her body to contain his Evil - Diablo 1 warrior style.
Although I'm *really disappointed* we didn't get more of Inarius, I do think that this is a fitting ending for him. Keep in mind, Lilith didn't really engage him until he basically confirmed that he killed Rathma , their son, and didn't really care. At that point, she knew that the old Inarius was gone. Replaced by a delusional sociopath who only cares about himself.

@@fallenaeon7084 to be fair , its a matter of debate of how much she really cared for Inarious and all their children. Yeah I was hoping Inarius would be the good angel like Tyrael. Turned out hes another idiot angel like Imperius. Lilith was very sad when he confirmed he killed his/their son just to "please the heavens" who dont even care about him anymore.
@@iROChakri this is exactly why people are disappointed, the back story of Inarius is clearly lacking. Instead, we ONLY got the idiot angel and the killing spree bit. We could have given more flashbacks.
It’s amazing me how Lilith, the mother of all monsters , simply don’t want to fight him, she walk away, she knows exactly why he’s after her, regardless of all his choices he blame it on her, where she keep reminding him that it’s his action, they’re CHOICE. @@woulfhound The two of them basically agreed ages ago that the Endless Conflict was sort of pointless. So they stole the World Stone together and with a few other dissenters to the conflict, made Sanctuary. For awhile, things were peaceful. Sanctuary had demons and angels - and their nephalim offspring living together - without the influence of Heaven or Hell. The issue became that it was pretty soon realized how strong the nephalim were. Considering lore wise, all angels/devils are shards of Anu - it makes sense that a being that is basically a rejoining of those shards would be stronger. There was talk of killing the nephalim off for fear that they might be used as a weapon against the other side. They were seen as abominations. Rather than make a choice, Inarius basically went to think about a solution. That left Lilith with the other angels and demons, who were still pretty keen on killing the nephalim. She chose violence to protect the nephalim and humans, and killed off any that would raise a hand to them. Eventually Inarius returned and made the World Stone weaken nephalim. Every generation would be born weaker and weaker, until they were mortal humans. But even then, they could prove to be stronger and a potential weapon to turn the tide towards whichever side they chose. Ultimately - the memory of where they came from was removed from nephalim / humans for the most part to further keep them weak. The result is they started developing cultures and some of them were gifted in magic. Some of the magic users could summon spirits. These spirits were actually demons. Which lead to Hell finding out about Sanctuary first. That lead to a discreet attempt to sway humans to Hell's side with a religion. This gradually escalated - to the point that both sides realized that Sanctuary existed and that nephalim were strong / even in human form when they awakened their nephalim nature. One of them chose to sacrifice themselves to protect Sanctuary from both Angels and Demons - basically - humans chose to be left out of the nonsense. Tyrael witnessed this sacrifice, and realized that humans / nephalim had good in them. So when the archangel council decided what to do about them - He chose to spare humanity. This was along with the angel of hope. And an angel who had a scroll that foretold the outcome of the conflict. The choice was made to have a sort of stalemate for awhile - and to leave Sanctuary out of the Eternal Conflict. Inarius was given over to Hell to sort of seal the deal. He had abandoned the Heavens, helped steal the World Stone, and had lead other angels to breed with demons in order to no longer participate in the Great War. So he was punished in Hell by demons for eons. So he comes out regretting his choice. He laments the existence of humans and blames them for keeping him from being able to return to the High Heavens. He doesn't accept any responsibility for his choice. He just wants to return to heaven. And as a continued show of that, he murders his own son. The son he had with Lilith. A son who by all rights taught that there should be balance and who trained necromancers in the art of balancing the good and evil within them - and who taught them to use the undead to fight demons. He's a craven, honorless bastard. And honestly, he deserved a lot worse than what he got. Lilith isn't wrong. He does deserve damnation.
@@GunmetalRaven Thank you for clearing that up and for the recap. Still, it sounds like heaven betrayed Inarius, not the other way around. I did hear that Inarius banished Lilith to the void at one point and that's why he was tortured in hell. It sounds like the two were meant for each other since Lilith is a sociopath anyway. ...but yea, killing his own son just to get the approval of the ones who had abandoned him was a very sad thing to do.
@@GunmetalRaven But at this point, Inarius was broken. Was his right in his actions? No. But all this happend because of the Eternal Conflict and because his own bretheren have given him to the demons. He was neither craven or honorless, he was mad, and his madness led him down this path, just like Liliths willingnes to destroy both Hell and Heaven led her down to the path of her own demise at the hands of her creations she was so desperate to use.
@@woulfhound He's actually banished her to the void twice. The first time was when he got back and found she'd killed angels and demons while he was thinking of a solution. She did it to protect the nephalim but yeah... The second time was when she found her way out of the Void and tried using the humans to help her win the war to capture Heaven/Hell the first time. And wiping out the Church of the one and the church of the triune ( which was a front to get folks to worship the 3 strongest primeevils). That lead to a human awakening his nephalim abilities... And well Tyrael witnessing his self sacrifice to protect Sanctuary from both sides. The 'ceasefire' on Sanctuary was basically agreed to by him being given over as a prisoner of war. Lilith isn't wrong though. The only way to stop the conflict is for someone strong enough to overthrow Heaven and Hell and hold power. The nephalim would've been able to do that. You'd think the angels wouldn't be so damn naive as to think a demon would keep a promise though. -_-* And it's the demon half of nephalim and humanity that makes them leave the humans in Sanctuary to suffer. It's not like courting good favor with humans would win them to their side or anything.
Thanks for posting this. I skipped the cinematic in-game almost immediately because I thought it was just the cinematic trailer. Then they mentioned Inarius' death and I realized they extended it lol
I saw comments from people complaining that Inarius died because of that. He didn't. Lilith burned him. And her stabbing him only knocked him down and allowed her to properly kill him. And for Lilith, she knew that he was going to stab her (when she turns to him her arms are spread wide like to embrace) and I'm sure she played the damage a bit. Though, the stab was still something as it is later noted that Lilith seems to be weaker.
Hmm. Many have not read the Sin War. People, calm your tits. This cinematic is very consistent to the lore established long before D3, in the D2 era (shame we don't get lore books nowadays like those). The fanaticism, blind worship, crusade, tyranny, greed, pride, vengeance, rage, hatred, broken soul and broken heart... everything is quite consistent. Mother rages still for her Children, Father kills yet his children, even after millenia. May Uldyssian save us, for now both have damned us all and the Worldstone is gone.
7:00 Lilith corrupted/infected Inarius with a black liquid thingy before killing him. She also said: "You belong in hell." I think Inarius will return as a demon.
It was said that she tortured him(as revenge or smth) before finishing him off so not sure, blizzard propably wanted to make it painful not really corruption.
She was just corrupting his light essence and ripping his wings off to torture him. If an angel dies without their wings then they don't get resurrected in heaven. They end up staying where they die.
Gotta say Lilith's actress did such a killer job at the role that some of the community is split over if she is actually the villain even after everything that went down.
Diablo needs more army vs army battles than "we are the super duper nephalim trowing kamehames left and right". Those armored dudes were ballin with discipline and tactics. Ive always wondered where are the human armies from sanctuary!?
I think Lilith sees humanity more like tools than anything. You can feel sorry for example if something precious for you, like a car or a cloth is wasted but that’s not real love. Lilith actions speak for herself, she is willing to sacrifice entire cities of innocents or weaks only to get a powerful army, even she said it to Elias. Real love is when you are not selfish and you are able even to sacrifice yourself for someone else. Lilith and Inarius are unable to do that.
It is deception. Lilith only cares for her grand plan. Rathma was a means to an end. So was Inarius. At the end of the day she is a demon plotting and she admitted in the storyline that she wasn't going to save anybody. Elias was just misguided like all the other cultists.
" A spear of light, that pierces hatreds heart" Ok so not only Inarius pierced her belly instead of her heart but he also did it with the hamp of the spear and not the spear itself. Talk about fucking up an entire prophecy XD (but them again he was on super edge and desperate)
@@MrDJFlyHi "Sanctuary is an abomination!" sounds like hate to me. So the heart of hatred seems to be Inarius' in this scenario. But then again, prophecies are usually allegorical or have a twist so might be anything.
" A spear of light, that pierces hatreds heart" I think the heart of the one full of hatred actually indicated Inarius... He wanted to destroy the Sanctuary.
there will be one but since all religions that where bound to a certain angel fucking messed up , its going to be a new holy class that will either follow ithereal or auriel , wouldnt mind if they bring this yaerius angel onto the stage
Killing either does nothing. They just go back to the eternal conflict. Born again, without memories, attacking each other blindly. Sanctuary was the only place they could live without war.
Everyday I grow more in love with this game. The cinematics, the voice acting, the playstyle, the story, everything is absolutely amazing. Couldn't have come at a more better time with the issues with overwatch
Prophecy was fulfilled - Spear of light piercing hatred's heart - She pierced his heart (full of hatred) with his spear of light (his weapon from the heavens!)
The moment I started rooting for her. She laments her child like every caring mother. Inarius deprived her of the one thing that she loved for selfish reasons.
@@scifisyko Yep indeed. The freedom of choice she offers is constricted to the point of being toxic. However, the ending choice of our hero is questionable. Of the evils you know, you prefer the lesser.
Had Inarius kept his vow of not harming Lilith and sided with her, we might see a scenario where we the hero have to fight through Inarius to get to Lilith in hell.
@@sumairshirazi it would make a great plot imo, but honestly they won't let us end the Heaven and Hell war because there won't be any thing left to milk from
Wait... What? For thousands of years Inarius slowly grew tired of the great conflict, eventually befriended a demon and shared a dream of creating a world without senseless conflict... Fled with the worldstone, a crime that cannot be repented. Finally saw his dream come true, and shepherded his children, even keeping them from too much power as to make sure they not fall into the same old corrupted ways of conflict. Only to betray all of that... For the very angels who let him rot in hell? The very angels who stood for everything stubborn that he hated? And then he just dies... Only for Lilith soon after to follow him. No alternate idea of siding with Lilith or Inarius, no interjection from the prime evils or the Angels, but Mephisto in the form of... A cute little wolf? What. The. Actual. Fuck.

Also got a love how Lilith tried as hard as she could to make Inarius see the obvious and help him, but the moment he brushed off Rathma without a hint of remorse was the moment she knew that he was beyond saving.

Maybe if he accepted his responsibility in all of these this, maybe that would have been different."

im sad about how their relationship ended, they wanted to make a place where deamon and angel can live in peace without the eternel conflit, and yet the eternal conflit came to their safe place and it leaded to break their couple
@PremiereGameplay4K It was the parents interfering with their own love though
Moral of the story, there are no safe spaces.

That Christian orthodox inspired chant in the beginning gives the perfect opening to this masterpiece of a cutscene.

One of, if not the greatest cinematic I have ever watched in a video game. Absolutely INCREDIBLE.
Absolutely jaw-dropping. I don't usually say this but this cinematic is a masterpiece of its genre.

"...Silence is their judgement"
Such an amazing line for such an amazing concept, the writers really did a 10/10 with Lilith.
@@janchada710 Loved your comment, completely agree with you.
The single best video game cinematic I've ever seen. Incredible.
Best one is still the zerg invasion in StarCraft 2 that kerrigan sees in her sleep
The shot at 5:27 is unmatched. A cinematic masterpiece
This scene blew me away. This is by far the best the series has ever been.

We always want more, but this is rpg game after all, story telling is not a main part here… but still im thankful if what we got about Inarius here, thank god they dont make him” good” aka Tyrael.. its just dont feet diablo universe like d3 ending..
So by your comment my guess is that Lilith still loves Inarius after all this years BUT from the moment she learned the he killed Rathma, their one and only baby boy she knew that the Inarius that she loved was no more.
@@fallenaeon7084 to be fair , its a matter of debate of how much she really cared for Inarious and all their children. But the scene where she mourns Rathma, while contemplating what he *could* have been for her own ends, shows that she *does* care albeit in her own twisted way as the Daughter of Hatred
We could have given more about how he began from being a Tyrael like “good” angel, being tired of the eternal conflict, escaped with Lilith, fell in love, and then found out by the high heavens and tortured into insanity, became another Imperius idiot angel trying to repent his sins and went on a killing spree here in D4.

Noted I said both, because he keep deny any responsibility, especially to the child he supposed to be a father of! Her line alone with “silence is their judgement “ and the reality that he belong in hell, is awesome line
Seems very unfair to Inarius but then I haven't been keeping up with Diablo lore.

I'm just wondering how come Lilith survived that impalement like it was nothing. Even Inarius thought that was enough.

It looks like angel’s flesh when their “limbs” come off their “body”? But you could be right that Mother infected him with some kind of Hell virus 😂

She was just corrupting his light essence and ripping his wings off to torture him. If an angel dies without their wings then they don't get resurrected in heaven. They end up staying where they die.

I don’t know if it’s a deception but Lilith really looks and sounds like a grieving mother. It’s really sad to be honest.
@@JotaP1ni think she look at humanity generally just as a tool for war, but only Rathma as her child.
