They should just give us CX60 the Europe gets, and they should combine CX90 and CX70 together and just call it CX90, you can choose whether you want 3 rows of seating or just 2 rows, just like how GV80 have both versions. This is what they should’ve done.
This is Mazda motto. Matter fact they are taking notes of how successful toyota been in yrs past before the recent couple of yrs. Make minimum changes and refreshes while maintaining the same or improvement to existing powertrain. There's a reason why toyota and Lexus vehicle were success and kept essentially the same vehicles for some models of over a decade (4runner, is350, tundra, Tacoma, sequoia, land cruisers barely had changes till recent years, and most those that had their big remodel hasn't been impressive at all...)
Unless there's something these pictures aren't showing, the new CX-5 won't make me want to trade in my current CX-5. Frankly, basic shape is too boring. I was hoping for something better.
The current CX-50 should have been named the CX-40 since it’s just a stretched and widened CX-30. Then the new CX-5 could have slotted into the new CX-50 nameplate, maintaining the brand recognition.
I hope Mazda is not planning to have some stupid lights in the front fascia reminiscent of a Hyundai Tucson. Mazda is arguably one of the very few manufacturers building beautiful cars, overall, and I hope they stick to that. I think they made the CX-5 look worse with the 2022 refresh. I hope Mazda doesn’t pull a Hyundai or a Subaru on its fans.
Just don't make it stiff like a wheelbarrow. It's a SUV with about 200HP. It can't be sporty,, especially if it's a HEV or PHEV. These type of cars are all about economy and comfort. My wishlist is: Make it more quite from the bottom than current model. Make it softer than a current model. I lovevkia Sportage suspension type or Volvo xc60. Similar interior to the cx-60. I really like the white interior in cx-60. 0-100km/h in about 8 seconds. No jerky transmission ❤
Tbh I don't need the CX-5 to get any larger, they already have the CX-50 for that. What Mazda needs to do is get better at packaging so that cars feel bigger in the inside than they look. Mazda's main problem right now is that they're horrible at making good use of space. My CX-30 is pretty large on the outside but the interior is tiny.
Why though? I don’t understand what it is in people wanting some specific vehicle a little bit bigger each and every time a new generation comes out. So what, in 5 generations from now it could be the size of a CX70? Yeah uh no!
@@patrickjohnson6259 The problem with Mazda is that they have no middle ground - either a small Cx5 or a big cx70 - I want a cx5 just a bit bigger, like a Rav4, not as big as a CRV or CX70
Yes, the CX-70 should have been the CX-60 for the US. I have a little bit of a problem with Mazda, Cost Cutting is too real 💀 from the massive C Pilar on the Mazda 3 Hatch, to the massive amounts of plastic cladding on the CX-30, to the CX-50 Hybrid once again having a lot of plastic cladding, to this CX-5 being pretty much the same old 2017 Everyone cuts costs, and I love Mazdas, but the lack of money is noticeable in Mazdas.
The tail lights are now patterned from the new and latest Mazda models. But hoping that Mazda would still keep the CX 5 name and the original distinct design which we all loved. Because renaming it but keeping the original body design of the CX 5, doesn't make sense at all and people will still recognize it as a CX 5. So renaming it is a big NO NO.
We have a Silver 2025 CX-90 Premium Sport. Interior is very nice for this mid-grade trim package, but the storage space is awful. The console/arm rest cubby is very shallow & there's a lot of dead space on the actual console itself. There is a wireless phone charger under the dash area, but nowhere to store a second phone. I love Mazda's (we have 4 of them), but they lean too heavy towards design now on their interiors, and not practicality for usable storage space. My suggestion would be to design a small storage shelf into the dash, and/or put some recesses into the door pulls where you can store a phone. My wife loves her new car, but hates when we take it on a long trip because of the storage situation. I've got a 2021 Santa Fe' and was waiting on the CX-70 to come out as a mid-sizer. It's too big for my needs, but CX-5 is too small. This new one looks slightly longer with less slope on the rear hatch, so maybe it will work? My wish list would be for a new CX-5 on an extended version of the current platform by 8-10" for more interior & rear storage space, along with a little wider platform with better seats & more interior storage space. (NOT the CX-50 dash & console layout!) If they made it the size of the CRV, they couldn't make enough of them IMO. My 2 cents.
Looks a like it has a little more storage. Mazda is really good at messing up the naming of their cars IMHO (for example "dropping" the Miata name in 2006).
After seeing these pictures, I'm actually "relieved". Why mess with a great formula? Sure some updates, but nothing radical. Hopefully some new colors, more interior upgrades and get rid of the terrible piano black finishes. .
Mazda CX5 should be renew for both exterior and interior because they keep the old form for a long time that make it is monotonous and boring. Change for growth and competitive with competitors.
I know that this is obviously a test vehicle but I can't help but notice no screen coming out of the dash inside or from what I can see, I wonder if they will try an integrated layout or maybe are doing something similar to the EZ-6
I laugh at the car companies sending out these camouflaged cars because if anything they bring more attention than if they simply painted them in a basic neutral color.
The bottom of the grill needs to be sharper, like the Arata concept and the pre-refresh current gen CX-5. I don't like how Mazda is making the bottom of the grill flatter and flatter. It needs to be sharp like the Mazda 3 and CX-30 or else it becomes generic and more like a Cadillac grill as opposed to a Mazda grill
The biggest change that could spell disaster for next-gen is actually not the car itself. It’s the price. That’s what makes current CX-5 so good.
It's the big incentives playing a big role in Mazda sales. If the big incentives go away, Mazda will be in big trouble next-gen.
The universal knock on the CX-5 is the rear seat leg room and boot storage space. Keep the look the same certainly, just make it a wee bit longer and wider to improve those dimensions.
same for the cx30, the sportage 2013 is longer, and have more clearance from the ground and inside the car compared to the cx5

I think it has much more legroom and a little bit more headroom on the rearseat.

Yes, the CX-70 should have been the CX-60 for the US.
I have a little bit of a problem with Mazda, Cost Cutting is too real 💀 from the massive C Pilar on the Mazda 3 Hatch, to the massive amounts of plastic cladding on the CX-30, to the CX-50 Hybrid once again having a lot of plastic cladding, to this CX-5 being pretty much the same old 2017
Everyone cuts costs, and I love Mazdas, but the lack of money is noticeable in Mazdas.
Looks like the dash has a wider screen for the driver.
Hope its headlights aren’t as ugly as the recessed, segmented, stacked lights of the CX-90
The back looks like what the cx-70 and cx-90, it looks larger too.
I hope they make the interior bigger than a subcompact SUV
The tail lights are now patterned from the new and latest Mazda models. But hoping that Mazda would still keep the CX 5 name and the original distinct design which we all loved. Because renaming it but keeping the original body design of the CX 5, doesn't make sense at all and people will still recognize it as a CX 5. So renaming it is a big NO NO.
Please let's get a cx90 type interior!!! Is amazing
My 2 cents.
IT FINALLY HAS REAL DRLs WOOOO
It’s always bad DRLs, it just depended on whether or not you had a high trim or a low trim.
How in the world does the cx5 get a proper rear suspension but I still got a torsion beam in my 2025 cx50...
Cx5 has torsion beam currently?
cx-50, as like the cx-30 are based on the mazda3. This one, the CX-5 is different.

Would it have a panoramic moonroof? 🧐
All Mazda crossovers look alike so why with the camo? I bet the interior is also unchanged.
My best hope is new interior design in cx5. 😂
The current model exterior is fine
How about a digital dash? The gauges look like they are from the 80s
Looks a like it has a little more storage. Mazda is really good at messing up the naming of their cars IMHO (for example "dropping" the Miata name in 2006).
13 years on the same platform and it STILL looks the same! underwhelming for sure
Mazda never fail with the pepboys muffler tips.
Does the rear not drop quite as much? Maybe something done to keep same cargo space while accommodating batteries?
It looks like the cx60 with the new mazda 6 ev headlights
am i the only one disappointed?
Ugh please don't be the same dimensions. I am hoping it would be a mini cx70
It looks longer though, maybe they put the i6 there 😅
Mazda naming I agree with you, it’s awful
can´t wait to see the same CX-60, CX-70 and CX-90 design on the new CX-5, more can you not expect from a small manufacturer 😴
Huh. Looks just like the current model. Kinda disappointed
This is only a refresh 😮 very disappointing was excited about changing my current 2023 but looks pretty much the same
Its not big enough to stuff the I6 in there. No biggy. I like the 2.5t
I know that this is obviously a test vehicle but I can't help but notice no screen coming out of the dash inside or from what I can see, I wonder if they will try an integrated layout or maybe are doing something similar to the EZ-6
Hopefully not.
Beautiful car.
Love CX-5 as well, i just wish they have better lane tracing assist on the highway for road trip!
Keep the 6spd with the 2.5 na engine for those who don't give a shet abt lap time but care for reliability
