  • Welcome to the first episode of the Basic Components Series! In this video, I'll be talking about six important things in electronics: resistors, capacitors, buzzers, thermo switches, knock sensors, and NTCs. These are like the building blocks of electronic gadgets. If you're curious about how these components work and what they do, you're in the right place!

This series is perfect for beginners or anyone who wants to understand more about electronics. I'll explain each component's job and how they make our gadgets work. And guess what? This is just the beginning. I'll cover more cool stuff in the next videos. Make sure to stick around until the end, and if you're excited to try these components in your own projects, check out PCBWay.com for quality circuit boards. Subscribe and hit the notification bell, so you won't miss the next episodes where we'll explore even more electronic components in simple, easy-to-understand terms!
Also in this series you will get answers to these questions.
What are the fundamental components in electronics?
How do these components contribute to electronic circuit functionality?
What are the key characteristics and properties of each electronic component?
How do you identify and distinguish between different electronic components?
What are the common uses and applications of each electronic component?
How do you test and troubleshoot these components in circuits?
What are the differences between active and passive electronic components?
How do you select the right components for a specific electronic circuit design?

In the 90’s and 2000’s perhaps even today, General Motors vehicles had knock sensors that contained piezoelectric crystal that allow for detection of even the slightest presence of a pre-detonation or knock. When the vehicles ECM detected this “knock” signal, it would then roll back the engine’s ignition timing til the “knock” signal was gone. Conversely, if the vehicle happened into some fuel with a higher octane rating, the ecm could advance the engine’s ignition timing until a “knock” detected then level off. This would allow for slightly more power at times.
Isn’t the device you featured in your video an example of a non magnetic reed switch or trembler switch rather than a knock sensor?
You have some of the best videos on Electronics and it’s a privilege to have access to them. I look forward to what you new videos will have for a topic. Thanks for all the information!!
