I think I would have preferred to watch 5 minutes worth at normal speed and actual sound , without the dodgy music, & the camera point of view being just behind the driver to get an idea of what it is like as a driver
Hey, that's just the BBC putting in what they think you ought to be seeing and hearing, not what you want. Remember, we are not allowed to think for ourselves. (Not had a TV licence for 3 years, now. Have not had an actual TV since 2013.)
I love the Piccadilly Line... every time I went to London, I was at West Brompton: I always took the Piccadilly and the District, and the deep level tube is fascinating like no other
I've always been fascinated by abandoned underground stations and recently visited Aldwych. I remembered riding it when it was in normal service as well before closure in 1994.
Dd you u know that Down Street is not the only abandoned tube station on the Piccadilly line? At 1:09, after leaving Osterley, you can see a platform on the left. That's the old Osterley station. At...I think it's about 2:48...between South Kensington and Knightsbridge, slow down the video and you'll find Brompton Road. At 3:44, there's one that's easy to find. That's York Road, between King's X St. Pancras and Caledonian Road. You can still find it on the tube today if you look closely out the window of the train. Please like this comment if I'm right.
To those complaining about vision of the Driver's Camera in the lower left corner, or dark tunnels, please remember this is Time Lapse video. The full version, from my understanding as a male Melbourne Railway Enthusiast, age 50 in 2020, is the Piccadilly Line, in full duration would be about an hour or so. The BBC did very well in filming, compiling and condensing this video on the London Underground "Tube" Train Network.
I used to fly to Paris quite often in years gone by, and used this line from the airport as far as Hammersmith. The time in this train was usually more than the time spent in flight.
If you want a more detailed film, they are all available at Video 125 and Videoscene on both DVD and Bluray. All movies are full length and in real time.
WOWSERS!!! I like this video! Visiting the London Underground is one of the highlights on my bucket list! I may have to hit the pause button to see some of the factoids, but it is one fast fascinating look...and a unique introduction to the London system. I'm a fan of the New York Subway system, and seeing the line from an operator's view is becoming a thing of the past, especially with newer trains coming online. The R-32's and R-38's from the late 1960's may still be around, but they're living on borrowed time. Thanks for sharing this on UA-cam!
Gee...even the trains drive on the left :) HINT: Mute sound, and run at half or quarter speed. Makes it a bit jerky, but easier to understand what you are seeing.
The captions are way too rushed. Reading speed doesn't follow the speed required for the human eye to read it properly. Why don't you hire professionals to add the captions?
Tip for everyone espacially non English native speaker: Put the speed to 0.75, the music isnt that great on every speed so it is okay and you can read the captions way better without stopping the video every time they pop on. PS: At the end 0.5 is more suitable.
You can buy that on DVD: www.video125.co.uk/acatalog/Piccadilly.html I have it but wouldn't dare upload it to UA-cam - they are really hot on copyright infringement!
In all my born days, I have never heard the London Underground referred to as the 'Oxo' or 'Oxo cube' = where do these BBC types get these specious 'facts' from?
@@pierferekatze2370 Many other cities subways are also much, much newer with all of these things thought of from the outset. Most of the London Underground system is 110+ years old. Sinking shafts to help with these things would be an incredibly expensive and complex operation given all the things sitting above the tunnels.
Answer me this, did you get this idea off CubOz? I think it is good that someone else it doing what he does, but in a different city, so one day, every city will have videos like these!
I like how they said only the 3rd busiest in Europe. The amount of passengers on the Shanghai, Tokyo, Beijing, and other Asian countries subways would far outnumber any European subway.

Here's a real time cab ride on the same route: ua-cam.com/video/zhzThvmHpBs/v-deo.html
Totally agree also the interesting info was removed
Agree, I gave up watching half way through
Would be much nicer if slowed down a little, we could at last read the captions…
Just pause the video when the captions come on (Left click the mouse!).
+Hammondfreak we shouldn't have to though
You're right. If the trains went this quick we wouldn't go to Alton Towers !!!
Nice
nanba25 pause the video you non life hacker
good lord slow down the captions
You can pause the video.
They can also slow down the captions.
If you can't read them in the time given then you need to go back to school.
Jordan Shelley 192 people disagree with you Jordan.
Lewis Kelly your are a slow reader
I want to hear the sound of the train, not the ttashy music.
+Delroy Roberts You won't be able to because the clip is fast forward
Yes My Pal
Why is he trying to hear the sound of the train not the music?
@@acnhsasha3085 because people who watch this like trains/are enthusiasts

the music made me shake my head for the whole video
Interesting statistics. Can we see the drivers point of view full screen at normal speed for couple of stations?
I've always been fascinated by abandoned underground stations and recently visited Aldwych. I remembered riding it when it was in normal service as well before closure in 1994.

Could you upload the full video of the driver's cam?

Wish it had a timer on, to see how long the journey is.

who else is watching this in lockdown because they miss going on the underground? anyone...?
No
cool
"Mind the gap between the train and the platform"
-London Underground
????
Mabirc please stand clear of the closing doors
In Frankfurt we have these announcements too, but there will be said "Please mind the step between the train and the platform".
SausageFruit we got that as a national rail service
Manjot, that means?
why russels square platform is on the left ? (Im not a Brit, Ive no idea why am i so addicted to underground tube videos)
3:43 Abandoned York Road At The Right
1:32 - my old station.
Great. A part of my young years.
You Should Do The Bakerloo Line
YOU PASSED TURNHAM GREEN THATS ON THE PICCADILLY LINE 😮 IT GOES STRAIGHT TO HAMMERSMITH AFTER ACTON TOWN ON THE VIDEO
Turnham Green is only served in the early morning and late evening
That will be the case because the station might be closed
Yes Piccadilly line passing through Turnham green
it sees a limited service.
Hello BBC BRITAN
3:43
that is york road station
one of the 6 abandoned stations
What is the music called?
Asking for a friend.
Where I come from, we call this music shit.
The music is great
Does the driver have a UA-cam channel
Gee...even the trains drive on the left :)
HINT: Mute sound, and run at half or quarter speed. Makes it a bit jerky, but easier to understand what you are seeing.
great job
great video! will there be similar videos on diff lines?
Could you do something like this but on other lines?
Imagine your friend saying: Yo where were you born
Then you reply: London Underground
Some random tube sounds would've suited this so much better.
I'm from London and I've never heard the tube referred to as the oxo (cube), and Jerry Springer was born at Highgate tube station
Would have thought the Beeb of all organisations would know a thing or two about how fast ordinary mortals read and absorb captions....
The captions are way too rushed. Reading speed doesn't follow the speed required for the human eye to read it properly. Why don't you hire professionals to add the captions?
music?
HOW DID U PASS CHISWICK PARK
"stattion" @0:56 :p
Yeah
I think you spelt Piccadilly wrong on the thumbnail image, it's missing out a 'c'
And its Southgate, not South Gate
3:08 You should have written that the Brompton Road station is disused now.

Lots of bad reviews of this video. Dunno why? I thought it was good. If you slow it down to 25% normal then it's VERY good imo. Thanks BBC Brit.
Impossible to read the captions without pausing the video.
I can tho
GREAT VIDEO.! Until the annoying music started....and it got fast forwarded......
Original without timelapse please?

Way too fast, captions unreadable.
4.00 Arsenal. Pride of London
1:09 old ostrley and spring grove
did anyone spot york road station at 3:43
The full slow real cab ride would have been better. That's a pitty. But the video is still good.
BBC "brit": in case you forget that the first b in bbc means "british"
In all my born days, I have never heard the London Underground referred to as the 'Oxo' or 'Oxo cube' = where do these BBC types get these specious 'facts' from?
cool experience
I.love the Piccadilly Line
No I love bakerloo and central lines
I once wen ton the Piccadilly line from Heathrow Terminal 4 to kings cross st pancras
So have millions of other people. What's your point?
Just saying, what's your point?
His point is the same as that of the video. The Tube carries 1.25 _billion_ people per year. Many of them post on the internet.
Ok and? I said I was only saying so it doesn't matter what my point is
could have taken the heathrow express and got to paddington in 15 mins
1:58 Piccadilly vs District
Too fast. It should not have been filmed it like this.
ultimate time-lapse..!!
Even I have some similar time-lapses (Not from driver Cab though) on my channel shot on Mumbai suburban railway..
OK make sure you slow the speeds
Nice
Great, but not long enough to read the cards at the top.
Way too fast. I would love to have read all the facts . That were presented. Great job
So wait, the first air conditioned train in the entire history of the underground was installed only 6 years ago?!
@TheRenaissanceman65 It's not impossible. Many cities' subways (deep-level ones) already have air-con

“Arsenal is the only tube station to be names after a football team”
What about West Ham?

Anyone see the old and abandoned Osterley Park & Spring Grove platforms?
