As I am sitting immediately to the left side of the table player I am tempted to express the facts behind this poem but did not want to spoil the party nor stop listening to the golden voice of Mahboob jan. I don't mean to turn this beautiful song into a religious preaching and I should stress that I am not an extremist nor fundamentalist. I hope my point is taken as a constructive criticism, not as destructive. It should be mentioned that poet Sa`di in this poem is explaining the 99th verse of the Quran Surat Al Zulzela and expressing his love for God as he is visualizing God's face. This poem does not express human lust for one another as most think of it in that aspect, but, expression of human love and compassion towards the Almighty Creator. To fully understand the purpose of this poem one must have full knowledge of the surat al-Zulzela. Explaining the purpose of this poem is hard in written text but can be cleared verbally as it needs to be matched word by word to the verse of the Quran. This poem should be sung in an orderly manner to make fully sense and to comply with the verse. در آن نفس که بمیرم در آرزوی تو باشم بدان امید دهم جان که خاک کوی تو باشم به وقت صبح قیامت که سر ز خاک برآرم به گفت و گوی تو خیزم به جست و جوی تو باشم به مجمعی که درآیند شاهدان دو عالم نظر به سوی تو دارم غلام روی تو باشم به خوابگاه عدم گر هزار سال بخسبم ز خواب عاقبت آگه به بوی موی تو باشم حدیث روضه نگویم گل بهشت نبویم جمال حور نجویم دوان به سوی تو باشم می بهشت ننوشم ز دست ساقی رضوان مرا به باده چه حاجت که مست روی تو باشم
