Great video, ploughing around that telegraph pole was a real work of Art. Thanks for not putting any droning Ibiza type music over the top of some pictures to spoil it, just great to hear the machinery at work.
@@iancroot1388 thanks for the comment much appreciated. Yes unfortunately the new quadtracs don’t sound as nice as the old ones did but nice and quiet in the cab
@iancroot1388 I totally agree, I've turned off so many good looking videos because of the racket being played. Can't beat the beauty of the diesel engine pumping out a bit of torque ...
I have to commend you (as an ex ploughman/demonstrator myself) on just about the best work i have seen with a modern day big set up. What kind of a job does she do in some good strong land? I retired some years ago just before the big "four tracks" etc came popular in this country and never got the opportunity to plough with anything as big as this. I finished my career with big Fords (for the time) and fully mounted 6 furrow ploughs but that set up of yours dwarfs it lol. Well done from here in Bomber County mate👍.
Thanks for your kind comments there really appreciated. This is some of the lightest land we farm. To be honest it does make a fair job on the heavy land as well depending what condition the lands in. The plough I had before this one was 12 furrow set at 16 inch furrows and this is 14 furrows at 14 inches which is making a better job on the heavy land not so big slabs to break down. The only time I really struggle to make a good job is ploughing in chopped winter barley as there’s so much to burry.
Thanks for sharing, tidy bit of kit . Was this filmed in uk ?? Also do you plough the headlands with the big plough as well, ive yet to come across any quadtrac ploughing the headlands. Thanks again 😊
@@avafw60 yes this is just in Cambridgeshire. Not sure if you know the area but the wind turbines in the back ground of the video are the ones behind camgrain on the A11 so not far from there. I do all my headlands not easy with the big plough but try my best. Maybe I’ll do some filming of that. Might even do a photo dump with some headlands in it. Thanks for commenting 👍
@dominicsharpe5057 Thanks for replying. Yeah I was just wondering how you go about it. I can only imagine you plough into the edge rather than the field. Thanks again for sharing and i look forward to more videos. Wishing you and your family a happy 2025..
Very efficient operation using big kit very well indeed. Soil looks in real good condition, I just hope that you got all the task done before a lot more heavy rain! Is the wheat through now?
Thanks for the comment. Yes after a rough autumn we actually didn’t do to bad in the end 99% of the autumn crops got put in. Yes the wheat is up in rows and looking well. I should have added some pictures at the end but didn’t think about that. I will try to remember that for future videos. Thanks
