My dad almost bought a 24k gold clad coin for about $200, I'm glad I stopped him
That's wild. These companies are sick. Sit around in meetings probably laughing about about profit the huge margins.
Bro found the wrong video
We bought another retired NYPD's collection, all the exact same thing. He was meticulous in keeping his receipts. It was nothing more than predatory selling.
If that Morgan Dollar is an 1893 then that is a key date. If it is in good shape it could be worth $1,000 or more. Good find if so!
Yea your right to bad he didnt have the 1895 to go with it.
Not as rare as the 1879 D Morgan he picked up after that. Considering the Denver mint didn't open till 1897 and the only Morgan they minted was in 1921. Pretty shocking he didn't know a 1893 in that condition is worth a lot of money.
@@sob1994 I thought 1893 was only worth good money with the S mint mark?
The postal commemorative is one of the more popular resell groups. My grandma gave me a set from them of the first and last Morgan dollars it claims they re uncirculated and maybe they are but to my eyes there is quite a bit of damage
Set the 1893-P Morgan aside…it’s not just another generic date.
Totally agree!
I'm glad the father enjoyed looking at them.
Great video. I shared it with the widow across the street who inherited her late husband's collection.
The only Morgan that was minted in Denver was in 1921
I was thinking the same thing
It was great to catch up today!
Thanks again for the content
Actually, that 1893 P Morgan looked cleaned.
I wish that guy could've told his dad about whatnot. You could still get scammed but less so. His Dad would be like a kid in a candy store.
Yep, that's totally true
I joined whatnot and can't wait for your next show
You are a legend man 😊
The jimmy carter .999 silver looks like a 1oz bullion. Spot plus collectibility has to have it above $20. I guess when you’re the buyer everything gets looked at below market value, however I’m sure when it goes to be sold all of a sudden it’s worth a lot.
Bingo He criticized almost everything. However also pumps it up. That's kinda cool... (yeah right) nothing in this entire haul... would be for me. Maybe the uncut sheet for $8. I wouldn't even paid what he did.
There is no 1879 D Morgan. There was no mint in Denver in 1879. The only year Denver minted a Morgan dollar was later in 1921 and it was only for one year, the last year.
There's no 1879 D morgan. Only Morgan's made in Denver were 1921
Kept it real, which resulted in an interesting vid!!!
Wow! You got really lucky.
That old cop watched a great deal of late night tv coin scam commercials.
Would you be interested in 150 , 1976 2 dollar star notes , crisp and sequential ?
Bought stuff like this before and then changed out the coins to nice coins that actually match the display. I've got a really great native American set full of nice stamps cool historical information and now BU Indian head nickels that I have out as a coffee table book.
those nicely packaged up change would be a cool bulk lot to sell on whatnot.
Yep, I'm gonna sell most of it there
How have I only just found this channel?
Welcome :)
Was that a 1921 peace dollar towards the end? I couldn't see the coin well. If so you did very well.
You can strip the color off the colorized coins with acetone. Ive done it with a handfull of silver eagles
Interesting idea!
Do you have any of these for sale. I think there cool had to find a fair price for stuff like that
1879-O maybe? No such thing as an 1879-D Morgan dollar.
If that morgan is a 1893 Philly in that condition, it's probably worth between $1000 and $2000, if it's a 1998 Philly, probably $200-$500.
I went on whatnot, how do I know if I got the discount?
I once bought a ratty silver certificate (not worth more than $2.50) and they charged $30 for it!
Every UA-camr that buys a collection can’t remember what they paid for it.
because they don't want people like you getting mad at them for paying a reasonable price for garbage
Some of those stamp even though they are canceled, ca be worth some money
Companies who take advantage of older adults need to be taken "deep sea fishing." It would have been much better for the son to have gotten his dad into "real coin" stacking. Can you imagine how the dad would have felt IF he learned his "collection" was not what he thought.
For sure, but at least he did enjoy it 🤷♂️
Myself who I give a crap and love to CLEAN MY COINS when i buy them. Deal with it. 😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎
You missed the 5 dollar silver certificate in folder of 4 one's uncute sheet
you missed a envelope in the box
32 D or S would be a score
"worthless stamps" While the set is fairly off center, that is a set of unused 1932 stamps and doesn't quite count as worthless.
very nice collection! thanks for the video.....
Gooooooooooooooooooooooooooot Damn!! Jackpot!!
Yo sliverpicker I had a question is Eva martial album safe for coins because it's so flexible
Not familiar with that, unfortunately
@@Silverpicker :(
id like to see the roll of wheat cents...went by that toooo quick
Next time!
Good video. It's unfortunate there are people who are taken in by these companies which sell junk for outrageous prices only because the items are described as 'rare', 'obsolete', 'good investment', and so on. Postal Commemorative Society is one of the worst, selling common stamps for highly inflated money.
The coin set with the Washington Bicentennial stamp set from 1932 is a little better and can be worth a few bucks. Ask a stamp dealer for the value of that set if they should purchase it. Although retail can be around $25 for the set in VF Never Hinged condition, the set is readily available.
It's all about getting the word out!
It's all about getting the word out!
@@Silverpickerbrother replied twice 💀
Whew! A nice foreign sounding young man almost sold me a package of exotic light bulbs for $200 over the phone. (All he needed was my credit card and social security numbers.) It's a good thing my sophisticated nephew stopped me! Evidently, this is some kind of scam. What would we elderly do without the youth? Gosh!
😂😂😂
The barber half is literally worth a 10th of the whole batch. Most charge $50-75 for the common dates in worn condition.
$50 to $75 for a worn barber half? Who's buying those? I'd like to know because I'd like to sell them some barber half's lol
@@silverking8742 All my LCS and antique stores
@@TheOldSaltthen you’re getting fucked, they’re like 15$
If your LCS is charging $50-75 for worn, common date Barber halves, it's time to find a new LCS
@@TheOldSaltthat's insane. Are u sure it's not key date barbers?
Madison Dollars might be error coins look good
What makes you think they're errors?
Reality.
You had a 1939 nickel in the 3 nickel set, if it has a mint mark it is a key date.
and worth 50 cents instead of 5 cents
Thanks for that instructive appraisal of a passed-down legacy.
I'm happy my legacy collection looks absolutely nothing like that.
I hear that!
Do you give 65% of the silver value. Or 65% of the book value.
Okai saw .. you explained.
Not a rip off. An absolute SCAM. original sellers of this should be ashamed of themselves.
this might be the most scammed old man oat
when it comes to this specific scam
0:47
Mostly its a big pile of fancy marketing crap
Good luck getting your money back next time just save your money

1,000 bucks for this shit ?
sorry for my language but 1,000 for a tube of presidential dollars ?
Yep, highway robbery
THIRED
It’s fine about people getting ripped off, just suck that you keep hammering at it, I imagine the owner of anything you buy and they probably regret selling it to you. I definitely not enjoy it. You should just focus on the value of what it is instead that would actually be helpful
Yeah he whines a lot
If it's an ex NYC cop I would be very careful if anything was stolen when they were raiding somebody etc they are dodgy AF
Why would you assume that a cop stole this stuff?
@@Silverpicker Because they have a long history of stealing peoples stuff :) most especially back in the days he would of been on the force, hell at least five cops since the middle of last year have been charged with theft of property or money a couple busted during integrity tests taking things from people's houses, another for stealing a victims card and id's another for lifting items during house searches. I mean i'm just saying double check because the source may be tainted.
@@wynwilliams6977 There's no question that there are dirty cops. That said, most cops do not steal stuff-certainly not enough to make my baseline assumption that a cop's property is likely stolen. I'd need to see evidence before suggesting that a police officer who retired in good standing is a thief. Suggesting that most cops steal because 5 were busted is not really fair. Even if you multiply that by 100x and say that there are 500 cops who steal from people's homes is 0.07% of cops in the US (there are 708,000). And, in the case of this cop, I saw his father's name on the original receipts, so I know for sure this stuff was acquired legitimately.
@@Silverpicker I did not say he was a thief nor did I assume he stole it like you said in your previous comment, what i said and meant to be more clear was i would be very careful when handling collections that come from those kinds of source :) Maybe i'm paranoid, maybe it is because i grew up surrounded by corrupt cops but I said what I said and it is good you have receipts.
@@wynwilliams6977 Totally hear you. I can see how my response came off too defensive. I appreciate your comments and the color you offer from your upbringing. Thanks for watching :)
Wow the guy that sold this to silver picker got completely ripped off. He gave him 65% of the value???? Wow. An LCS would have gave him spot price for all of that or at least 90 % of the value. Damn picker got dude bad
75%*
@@CoinCollecter-uh1uw he said he usually gives around 75% but if u listen again he says he gave the guy 65% because of the type of stuff that it was
This stuff sucks. I’m surprised silver picker even bought it. I would have only given the price for the silver. The rest is junk. And it’s mostly junk
@@jayc8180 he paid face value for all the stuff that was "not silver" lol same as what a bank would have given Wich is fine I agree about that but I'm talking about the rest of the stuff and the rest he paid 65% of the value lol
I paid him more than 65% for the silver and less than 65% for the junk....it's an average 🤦♂️
If someone told me they would pay face vaule for a coin/bill I honestly would break it out and spend it. Get this crap out of the hobby we don't want it. We don't need it. That's how I feel. Just spend those clad nickels ect. Ofcorse silver is another subject. I due think u were more than fair with him.
First
So you bought junk ant 60% and you going to sell that junk at 100% nobody wants that garbage
WTF?!
