Last week we sat down with Oakland native Philthy Rich for an exclusive “Off The Porch” interview! During our in-depth conversation he talked about growing up in Oakland, what he is teaching his children, having to become the man of the house at a young age, jumping off the porch when he was 11, growing up without a father figure, artists who aren’t in the streets glorifying the streets, starting to rap after having his second kid, taking rap serious in 2010 after he came home from jail, grinding his music hand to hand out of his trunk before the streaming era, collabing with a lot of artists from all over the country, artists in the Bay Area being overlooked, reveals he feels like he hasn’t gotten his big break yet, studying the rap game & industry, investing money into his career, never signing a major label deal, dropping over 100 projects, the Bay & Texas connection, Bay Area & Detroit having a similar sound, moving smart, giving his hair salon to his godmother, owning a dog kennel, working with Lil Uzi Vert, Offset & Sauce Walka on “Water Leak”, his new single “King Of Oakland”, his label FOD, his new album ‘Motivational Purpose’, giving back to his community, and much more!
