I agree that Cody was smart to “abandon ship”, but he does share is some of that culture. Remember he also stated in an interview that “Babyfaces and Heels were tired old tropes”.
I still want AEW to succeed because competition usually betters the product. But man, They had Chris Jericho at the start of it, who was breaking into the conversation as the goat of wrestling, at one point they had Wardlow who was more over than anyone in either company, they had MJF who was super hot, and they had CM Punk's return to wrestling. They somehow ruined it all and when I look at AEW it seems so barren.
They said this Monday Raw when the Adam Pearce and Bon Breakker segment was aired a frustrated Wardlow was caught yelling "that was supposed to be meee!!" 😅
Now, Jericho has go a way heat, MJF has been MIA, Cody and Punk have returned to WWE with Cody now champion and Punk despite being injured in the middle of a feud with Drew McIntyre.
And somehow Tony Khan decided that the best idea was to continue pushing the Bucks in the main event… I don’t know if I should laugh or be angry at how bad TK’s decisions have been every time he chooses to side with those clowns. The Bucks (and Jericho) are the ones who keep getting TV time because they don’t care about putting on a quality wrestling program, they just give Tony what he likes: they kiss his ass and tell him his ideas are great. Thus, they are his BEST FRIENDS 🤷🏻♂️ Such a freakin’ waste of a billionaire starting his own wrestling company. Seriously? The Bucks?! Over and over again? Come on… 🤦🏻♂️
Yeah, Biloxi has never had an 18,000 seat arena. The Coast Coliseum seats maybe 11,000 or 12,000. All those arenas along the gulf coast seat the same and were built at about the same time.
It was all Internet hype, and after a while, people who had seen this play out before saw it was nothing new, and they had made every mistake past promotions made but faster.
Look up Wells Fargo Arena in Des Moines Iowa seating chart for Dynamite coming in June. They have at least 75% of the seats in the arena closed off. The building holds over 16,000 for a basketball game, not sure of the total available for AEW.
I for sure wanted it to succeed. Because competition is good for everyone. But AEW just can’t shake off the bad unfunny comedy antics. Why? Because they have the biggest clowns at the top of the card 🤷🏻♂️
I've said it before and I'll say it again. Vince McMahon stepping down was the worse thing that could happen to AEW. AEW started with alot of hype cause of Vince McMahon being at the top of WWE running it. People were happy to see something different that wasn't stupid and out of touch. That was when AEW came around. At a good time. Now that Vince left people don't wanna watch it. Cause they are now seeing all their flaws. Just how they saw the flaws with WWE. Which WWE still has their flaws. Just not as much as AEW has.
JCs analogy of a general going into war is exactly the plot of literally EVERY big blockbuster movie where the heel general thinks they will crush the small rebel team, and then the general ends up deleting himself in an empty room surrounded by no one else because they’ve already abandoned ship.
the key to the "4 in 4" vs "6 in 10" question and to growing beyond them is to run 4K several times and then look at the turn-away and the reaction and then expand as you legitimately feel comfortable spreading out...
I can only speak for myself: I, too, had enthusiasm initially. But I saw how things progressed for the worse and I gave up. Especially after Punk quit. My point: I know what it looks like when a promotion falls on hard times. UWF/Mid-South in 1987, World Class in 1988, AWA in 1989, WCW in 1999. I've seen how things can get completely out of control and promotions can die. AEW is no different.
Aew puts on incredible ppv. The problem is that hardly any of those matches are the result of a consistent and easily digestible conflict. When they have had something i.e MJF vs Wardlow, or Keith Lee vs Swerve, they fail to send it properly. It's frustrating as someone who had hopes because it's such a simple problem to solve.
I don't know if you can say it was ever "hot," but GWF started with a national TV deal on ESPN and had some interesting talent, and it quickly devolved into Dallas-only talent, despite still having a few notable veterans and rookies.
Mr. High hopes for better ratings. Must have taken one of those stupid visualization courses, if he thinks something happens just because he imagine it.
The first AEW match I saw involved the Young Bucks in a multiman cage match when one of the bucks had pins in his shoe showing to the camera and then putting into his opponents face. I turned the show off almost immediately. I am rooting for an opposition to the WWE competition is good, work for wrestlers is good. I want wrestling to succeed. But AEW is failings and it is sad. We may never get another chance to see a competitive product to the WWE.
My opinion, without being involved in the business at all, but when there is a company that constantly produces hardcore matches and everyone is doing the same kind of stunts it is hard for me to differentiate between a face or heel while watching. Also the fact that they have champions from multiple companies from all around the world makes it confusing to the casual fan to know who really is the top dog. The company is a mess.

I agree that Cody was smart to “abandon ship”, but he does share is some of that culture. Remember he also stated in an interview that “Babyfaces and Heels were tired old tropes”.
"it was a gift they were given" is a thing Jim has been saying for ages, never been wrong
"I don't know if he's a dutchman..." 😂😂
The Bucks definitely love the smell of their own farts 😂
Maybe each other's
They were prophetic like the Simpsons 😂
The Bucks will go down in wrestling as the most overpaid, least drawing, most damaging to the industry tag team in modern history.
And somehow Tony Khan decided that the best idea was to continue pushing the Bucks in the main event…
I don’t know if I should laugh or be angry at how bad TK’s decisions have been every time he chooses to side with those clowns.
The Bucks (and Jericho) are the ones who keep getting TV time because they don’t care about putting on a quality wrestling program, they just give Tony what he likes: they kiss his ass and tell him his ideas are great. Thus, they are his BEST FRIENDS 🤷🏻♂️
Such a freakin’ waste of a billionaire starting his own wrestling company.
Seriously? The Bucks?! Over and over again? Come on… 🤦🏻♂️
Yeah, Biloxi has never had an 18,000 seat arena. The Coast Coliseum seats maybe 11,000 or 12,000. All those arenas along the gulf coast seat the same and were built at about the same time.
Thank You Brian and Jim!
The artwork 💀
"Vince better be ducking for cover"
Sounds like they got one thing right
We live in a multiverse multiple timelines. In not one of them, does Aew have no pics of empty seats on the internet.
Ha.
It was all Internet hype, and after a while, people who had seen this play out before saw it was nothing new, and they had made every mistake past promotions made but faster.
The fact that Wardlow and MJF aren’t AEWs Hogan vs Piper alone blows my mind!😂 Add all the other bs and there you have it! 700k viewers!
Hey Tony never throw rocks at a man with a machine gun😮😂😂😂😂
Look up Wells Fargo Arena in Des Moines Iowa seating chart for Dynamite coming in June. They have at least 75% of the seats in the arena closed off. The building holds over 16,000 for a basketball game, not sure of the total available for AEW.
Did people want AEW to succeed or wanted Vince to failed!
I for sure wanted it to succeed.
Because competition is good for everyone.
But AEW just can’t shake off the bad unfunny comedy antics.
Why? Because they have the biggest clowns at the top of the card 🤷🏻♂️
This aged fabulously
I've said it before and I'll say it again. Vince McMahon stepping down was the worse thing that could happen to AEW. AEW started with alot of hype cause of Vince McMahon being at the top of WWE running it. People were happy to see something different that wasn't stupid and out of touch. That was when AEW came around. At a good time. Now that Vince left people don't wanna watch it. Cause they are now seeing all their flaws. Just how they saw the flaws with WWE. Which WWE still has their flaws. Just not as much as AEW has.
Yeah, AEW are struggling to adapt in a post Vince world now.
I'm more concerned with a better WWE which is what we're getting now lol
People didn’t want alternative they just wanted a better product from wwe 🤷🏾♂️🤷🏾♂️🤷🏾♂️
Yeah, thankfully we have Triple Sucks now.
‘They don’t want pictures on the internet of empty seats’ 🤣🤣
JCs analogy of a general going into war is exactly the plot of literally EVERY big blockbuster movie where the heel general thinks they will crush the small rebel team, and then the general ends up deleting himself in an empty room surrounded by no one else because they’ve already abandoned ship.
Say what you want about Cornette but his long standing hatred of the Bucks is justified and FUNNY AF 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂 Its worse than Omega
The Bucks are the most unprofessional men that have ever been in the business.
Chris Van Vliet is a really good interview. He lets the guest talk which is really missing in a lot of wrestling podcasts.
The young bucks book is titled “killing the business”. Let that sink in for minute
the key to the "4 in 4" vs "6 in 10" question and to growing beyond them is to run 4K several times and then look at the turn-away and the reaction and then expand as you legitimately feel comfortable spreading out...
I remember AWA 1990; when Verne had the 'AI' audience... and would splice in reaction shots from a random Bar that was allegedly receiving the feed...
“They will neva be ova!!!”
Can’t wait for Corney’s thoughts on what Omega said about Uncle Dave not knowing what a good match is anymore
man 2019 feels like ages ago
I don't know if you can say it was ever "hot," but GWF started with a national TV deal on ESPN and had some interesting talent, and it quickly devolved into Dallas-only talent, despite still having a few notable veterans and rookies.
GWF was where I first saw Raven as Scott Anthony and X-Pac as The Lightning Kid
If the Young Bucks were able to kill every Face in the Company, that makes them the biggest heels in wrestling history?
We don't want empty seats being posted on the internet 💀
The Bucks are the worst thing in Professional Wrestling now days. They just need to leave.
They're struggling to get 2k attendance nowadays. Let alone 4k or 6k. So that didn't work out for them regardless.
How much of those 2K in attendance were "free tickets"? (eg., two for one deals, straight out giveaways, etc.,)😉
I had such high hopes for AEW in 2019....
Ditto! I was really hoping for a sports based presentation/alternative to WWE.
We have ended up with an alternative to WCW. 2000.
Mr. High hopes for better ratings. Must have taken one of those stupid visualization courses,
if he thinks something happens just because he imagine it.
What sucks is AEW has has the pieces to have a solid product but they either lacked foresight, cooled them off, or run them off.
I saw this and immediately clicked
Great way to start the day.
i love pluuuuun and fullllco being recurring characters
Hey Jim, I'm from Beaumont Texas 😂
When Jim hears Kenny’s take on Meltzer the face turn will be complete.
The internets so funny. ITS SO FUNNY YEAH...
All Embarrassment Wrestling
Arena Empty Wrestling
All Exits Wrestling.
All except Wrestling
An Entire Waste
Anally Effeminate Wimps
If your gonna create a heel stable make sure all the guys in it are over 5 foot and don't look like they need a juice box and a nap
I wonder if Jim said yes I wonder how long he would have last in AEW?
Probably not even through the 2nd PPV.
He would have tapped out before the premier of Dynamite.
Who would have thought that making a lower midcard tag team executive vice presidents of a startup wrestling company would go so badly wrong?
THIS ☝🏻
Midcard, comedy, background, lackeys in a multi-man faction, at BEST.
Yet, they are pushed like main eventers time and time again in AEW. & they are actual executives??! 😅
How has it taken people this long to see the myriad of mistakes Tony Khan has made from the beginning?
