I think it is very light.
the size is significantly smaller but the movements in a vector svg might turn down the performance a little bit but it still would be lighter than any any png or gif.
but if you're completely nuts and try to do the animation in pure CSS then yeah it would be comparatively slower.
I don't use after effects, i use natron for animation. Can I design lottie animation in natron using lottie files

If you create a JSON file, why would you put it in Lottie instead of directly placing the JSON file?

we animators use a ton of plugins and precomping... and json doesnt support those...so its a bit lengthy to work with developers and animators...

is thr a limit on how much long a Lottie animation could be? can it be compose of 3000 jpgs(in animation terms 3000 frames)?
Hey Syed, there is no limit. However, the longer the animation, the heavier the file size will be. So it is not recommended. :)

Hi Scott, yes it can be used on social media. However, if you are looking for posting, you may need to download the mp4 version as those two platforms do not support Lottie uploads for social posting as yet. If you are looking to post it as Instagram story, you may try the LottieFiles mobile app (link: lottiefiles.com/mobile) where you can post your favourite Lotties by clicking on the "Share animation to Instagram Story" button.
