I just added your Kodiak aircraft to my MSFS and took a training run from Goroka to Port Moresby. I am CPL, SEL/MEL, instrument, aerobatic, but haven't actually flown in 20 years, only been playing with MSFS for several weeks, and know nothing about the Kodiak. However, I enthusiastically launched from AYGA and - using your video as my guide (with all controls set on low sensitivity and perfect weather, of course) - managed a not-unreasonable landing at AYYZ on my first attempt! What a hoot! If you haven't noticed, you can hear some soothing ambient jungle noise at the digital airstrip once you shut the aircraft down and turn the volume up - birds and and buzzing Diptera (hopefully, fruit flies and not Anopheles).
Another great vid. Never a pilot, but watch a lot of them. Two cool things 1) you have to do your own flyover to assess wind speed and runway conditions and 2) a nice sharp bank to final. NO ATC - NO Problem!! You da man!!
Beautiful place and perfect landing Ryan! IMO you have the best aviation channel on UA-cam. You’ll be hitting 200k easy in the near future. My wife is getting sick of my “Cut off, Pull off & Shut off” jokes in the kitchen & car 😂😂 Thanks for posting.
I finally figured out what "Pull Off" involved, in your Emergency Engine Shutdown procedures. Cut Off - Condition Lever. Pull Off - Firewall Fuel Supply. Shutoff - Fuel Tanks. I never noticed that little, red knob before.
It must be an extraordinary experience to be one of those kids that gets to commute to school in a frickin' Kodiak! I'm a 39yo man from Texas and I'd be giddy to have a flight in one. RYAN, Hello, really nice day for flying , although you grease them on I usually listen for your STALL warning, on landing, but did not hear it this time , nice mug, , God Bless , cheers 🇵🇬🇵🇬🇺🇸🇺🇸
When Ryan first released this video, it was as a landing challenge. I went through quite a learning curve from learning to fly the Cessna Caravan to the creating and loading a flight plan; but I was able to finally achieve the landing at Yambaitok. The challenge was terrifically set up by Ryan on a number of levels. Neither the departing or arrival airports are included in Microsoft flight simulator. Ryan originally posted links to the add-ons for both airports. Those links have been taken down now in this post, but I am pretty sure they’re available on Ryan’s Patreon page which I strongly encourage you to join. I was able to successfully import the airports into Microsoft flight simulator by adding the add-ons into the community folder. The next step is to load the MSFS scenery into LittleNavMap, create a flight plan and load that back into MSFS. Use the Topo map in LittleNavMap to follow your flight as well as fly all the valleys of PNG. I never said this was simple, but it sure is challenging and fun. Thank you Ryan.
Great landing Ryan! 👍 Your job must be extremely fulfilling as you’re able to procure and delivery the 🌞 hook up and fridge. Really cool how everyone comes to meet you, and with the children running! They should name the air strip after you 😀

Nose up trim is your friend too. Helps make a nice flare and you don't have to have so much backpressure on your stick/yoke so control is easier. You need to be ready for forward stick if you have to go around tho, the nose will want to pop up when you max the throttle.
