Frazetta would wait till the last minute to do his book cover commissions. He did the Neanderthal men cover in one night in the kitchen, he didn’t even think to get a canvas so it’s done on a trash piece of plywood he had lying around. Beast
LOL....that trash plywood is now worth hundreds of thousands, maybe a million $$$
Frank Frazetta's inks are a masterpiece of works of contrast. Dark's over lights, lights in darks. But that was just a part of his talent. The scenes he drew conveyed urgency, action, desperation, and this also is what makes Frank Frazetta a favorite of mine. His style is immediately recognizable, even to this day. A true inspiration. And if you love fantasy lore art along the lines of Conan, Tarzan, Red Sonja etc, then Frank Frazetta immediately comes to mind.
Frank was an athlete and very into fitness and such…you can tell it translates into his forms in action and the visceral quality.
Excellent, thanks again!
When I was young I thought I drew and sketched pretty well. Frazetta taught me that my work was too boring, no action, & like drawing someone posing. I was really good at creating, as opposed to some that can only draw what is in front of them. But due to a brain injury, I stopped all of that. But still, Frazetta was a big inspiration for me. I wish he was still around.
His work is a hypnotic adventure. Such complex active stills that leave the mind entranced with what's previously occurred & what's to come. They take you to alternate realities, another galaxy. They're just out of this world.
Frazetta is the master of fantasy, but N.C Wyeth is the god of illustration !😎
I love the way his work has such volume. Love the way he draws muscles and curvy women. His work invokes a sort of primal and visceral feeling. Great artist. Good to know he's Watts approved
@@davedfw814 I see. So he was a man of culture.
Frazetta is one of my favorites, glad you did one of these for him.
More CLOSE-UPS, gents. And YES--Frank was a MASTER of anatomy.
His Buck Rogers covers for Famous Funnies ( including the one that was rejected by FF and used by EC comics for their Science Fantasy book) , his comic strip work for Johnny Comet and Li'l Abner are my personal favorites.
can't wait for more!
I hope to be doing this some day soon with the help from you guys and others like Proko too.
thankyou for this video !
Awesome
R.I.P. Frank Frazetta.
Check out Fire and Ice, it’s the only movie that Frazetta ever collaborated with Ralph Bakshi.
Bonus: Frazetta also made some movie posters as well.
Jeffrey Jones' ink drawings are just as inspirational as Frazetta for me
Agreed. Catherine Jones was phenomenal. She had done some gorgeous oil painting too.
me too
Idyl!
had to look her up, thx.
Jones was awesome, but a clear Frazetta fan himself.
Really Master!
Thank you for videos! Unfortunately I had problems visiting your site, it looks like it has restrictions for visitors from Russia. Does it mean that I can not enroll for your drawing courses or there are some mistake happened? Thank you for answer!
Thank you

Jeff do you know kentaro miura, author and illustrator of Berserk?
That is Tarzan, by the way, not a "Jaguar God." I remember vividly looking at this picture in a the Canaveral edition Tarzan book that my dad had.
