Enjoying your December videos. Thanks for sharing details on assembling the Beringer wheels. I put together some 8" Matco rims on the Desser 27.5" tires the other day and was curios about the Beringers.
Beringer makes such great products. They are not only beautiful to look at but function great as well. Did you happen to get the dual caliper brakes? I'm not quite sure what wheel sizes they are available for or if they would work with the Zenith gear legs, but they would be perfect perfect for a heavy duty STOL plane. They would be INSANE on the single seater if you make it a competition focused plane.
Their 10” wheel just uses one caliper, but it has so much more leverage than what is used on the 6&8” wheels that the braking power is substantially more even with just one caliper. Thanks for your comments and definitely thank you for watching!
@TNFlyingFarmer That makes a lot of sense. I can see how the diameter of the rotor for the 10-inch wheel provides SIGNIFICANTLY more leverage than the rotors on a 6-inch or 8-inch wheel. At your planes light weight, dual calipers on the rotor for the 10 inch would probably just lock up the wheels instantly without some form of anti-skid aka anti-lock braking system like found on larger aircraft. I bet someone out there could design such a system for experimental aircraft using the existing ABS components from modern sport motorcycles and coding some sort of controller. It would definitely help the tailwheel guys be able to brake harder without flipping their airplanes with too much braking. Thank you for the video! Merry Christmas to you and your family!
@@TNFlyingFarmer I just took a look at Beringers catalog. It looks like they already have an anti lock regulator system called ALIR. Their stuff is so advanced it's crazy.
I’m eagerly awaiting the nose gear reveal!

How much does one of the mains weigh? Tire and wheel?
