      I think to call it a prequel series is wrong since last I heard atleast Riot has said Arcane is not yet canonical to the game despite adding Arcane skins for some of the champions/characters. Given some of the differences we see in Arcane and the character bios in game I think Arcane and League are going to act similarly to the MCU and Marvel comics co-existing as two separate canons while main story/time line is reserved to the comics or game for league/Arcane.

      For me, when I first heard of LoL. I thought of Ahri. But later, Jynx was introduced. And became like the mascot of LoL for me(steampunk psychos looked cool). Seeing Powder getting her nickname from purely negative situation was hearth-breaking and shocking for me. And from her own sister no less. I was like “holy moly”.

      You know how she finds a Valdiani? Maybe Violet and Jinx are Valdiani children, from the Valdiani Family, one of the original families founding Piltover or Zaun depending on how you look at it. They were artisans, inventors, scientists. Tinkers. As the original city grew more and more distant, the Valdiani Family itself might have found itself with members on both sides of the river.

      The game is actually good.
      If you dont count the toxic people then you can have a good time with your friends.
      The problem for new people is that it takes some time to understand the game since is not that simple.
      If you have seen arcane then you might be interested in knowing that heimerdinger,jinx,vi,ekko,viktor,warwick,caitlyn,jayce,singed....all are champions in the game and each has 4 abilities usually,on top of that there are runes,rules and objects that you need to understand. Thats why the game is hard for new players and also because of smurfs that make the experence worse.

    As someone who knows the Lore and the game.. Despite how it looks in the show. Viktors leg isn't mechanical. It's actually being changed by magic. While yes Viktor will go through augmentation for his "Glorious Evolution". It will more than likely be shown in season two.
    But I will say as a fan who's been playing since Jinx was released back in 2013/2014.. Just seeing the trailers for Jinx and Ekko now and seeing the tiny details Riot had been planning all those years ago really hit hard. It really goes to show the amount of time and effort they wanted to put into this storytelling.

    • @dinoskiLoL
      @dinoskiLoL 2 роки тому +11

      There's no tiny details Riot has been planning, except from Warwick's rework onwards (which is when Arcane production started, 6 or 5 years ago). When Ekko came out, people made theories about how he's connected to Jinx and Vi and Riot just said "nope". Most of Riot's lore is retconned

    • @HoHhoch
      @HoHhoch 2 роки тому +39

      @@dinoskiLoL Er.... no? Riot split the Rift's lore from the world of Runeterra a while ago. Arcane is following that lore. You can read Vi's biography and see how closely the show follows it.

    • @dinoskiLoL
      @dinoskiLoL 2 роки тому +4

      @@HoHhoch That is simply untrue. Even Vi's lore, unless they changed it after Act III of Arcane dropped, had many things that simply were clashing with Arcane. For example, in her lore it mentions that she's grown alone and had to learn how to fend off for herself. But as we know from Arcane, it isn't true since she had Vander and the others. There are many cases of Riot retconning lore and if you didn't notice it, that's on you my brother. And what does Rift have to do with anything? Are you talking about Warwick rework? If yes, it's because that they started production of Arcane when they started working on Warwick's rework as well - which is why champions onwards have quotes relating to Arcane despite Arcane not being out yet at the time. Warwick, Swain, Fiddlesticks all having special quotes for Vi and Jinx after their rework and it is no coincidence, and while it doesn't have anything to do with the lore, it was a simple point to prove that there are some things that Riot doesn't retcon, but mostly they do. Look at Viktor and Jayce's lore, look at Camille and Skarner.

      @@0Annou0 Except you can't. There are 2 similar characters to Powder in Ekko's cinematic, but if you look closer, their physiognomies look completely different. And the one that looks close to Claggor is not Claggor, is Ajuna from the Chronobreak comic. In Zaun it is customary to make murals to pay tribute for the dead, which is why you see a lot of murals in Arcane. As I said, when Ekko came out, Riot themselves denied connection to Vi and Jinx after theories sprouted on Reddit, saying they weren't related. But, it is known that Riot changes lore constantly and retcons (which is not a bad thing at all btw). As Arcane production started 5-6 years ago, Warwick rework is the first instance of Arcane lore and connection (his sentences to Vi and Jinx in the game). You can see other cases of lore not being connected by: Viktor lore being completely different from Arcane, Vi has inconsistencies, Hextech stuff doesn't match up with Skarner & Camille and much more. If you think Riot makes 0 mistakes in lore then you haven't seen Ruination event, Seraphine release, and much more. Now I will stop arguing and discussing this because it's getting boring.

      I disagree. Her entire character arc is pretty much played out, she chose the people of piltover over her family and left behind her heritage as a noxian, as shown with the painting scene. It would make sense for her to die, as it would give Jayce a more personal stake to hunt down Jinx. Could lead to a more emotionally charged fight scene. It’s “You killed my girlfriend” rather than “you blew up a room kinda”. Although personally I’d rather jinx win because she’s amazing it’s likely she’s taken to Stillwater for a fun breakout act. I don't think Silco is a bad guy... He is a grey character...
    He is a revolutionary man, but is also a crime chief... He truly believed in an independent city, but he created a similar oppressive system of government to control the undercity... He fueled Jinx craziness and abandonment issues, but he really liked her and said she was perfect not even after, but because she was doubting him, showing that he wasn't manipulating Jinx just because, he truly believed everyone would betray her and him (he was surprise when his second in command didn't). He imprited that notion in Jinx mind, not because he was being evil, but because he was also betrayed and abandoned before. I really think he was saying the truth about not betraying Jinx when he was shoot, he was going to die, he didn't need to lie there... And he died saying Jinx didn't need to apologize taking the guilty of her shoulders, unlike her sister, who blamed Jinx for their tragedy
    ...Also, I love one of his quotes "you are ready to die for a cause but not fight for it?"
    I think the moral I'm taking out of this series is: eat the rich

      She is being given chances by everybody around her times and times and times again and she refuses to heal. Because if she accepted the love that is being sent her way - as complicated as it is - it would mean that what she does isn't fine either. Then she would have to change, she would have to accept that her solutions aren't always the best.
      She lives a self-fulfilling prophecy in which everyone abandons her, but leaves them no other choice BUT to abandon her.

    you know how when jinx comes along in act 2 of the series, her inner demons are represented by chalk drawings? after watching the season I rewatched chapter one and the chalk drawings are there too, suggesting jinx has been inside powder all along... I'm not convinced it was silco who created her, rather she was just hiding inside powder, waiting for the perfect time to come out (no I don't play the game so I have no idea if this makes sense with the rest of the lore or not)
    thoughts?

    • @h0ll0w0ne
      @h0ll0w0ne 2 роки тому +88

      I would agree that there are indication that powder has mental issues. I think that they never would have gotten so worst without all the trauma she endured. I would also suggest that it's not so much that Silco "created her" in that he did not want her to go insane but his worldview did fuel her madness. Match meets gasoline kinda thing. I mean he cared for her from the moment she lunged at him to hug him when they first met that tragic night and was willing to give it all up for her in the end. With Vanders corpse right there at that moment and what she said, in his eyes, he knew right there, they are the same, betrayed and abandoned by those they called familly.
      I don't think there is a single moment where he thought of her as a pawn, a tool or an experiment. And that what makes him such a good villain. The man deserves to die and be burried 6 feet under the jail, but god damn it, he was still complex and human.

    • @YonoZekenZoid
      @YonoZekenZoid 2 роки тому +24

      @@h0ll0w0ne agreed. In fact, I found the scene where silco approaches powder for the first time extremely interesting, because you can see the power dynamic form right then and there between them.
      When Silco first sees powder, he sees an opportunity to manipulate a lost scared child ("hello, little girl, where's your sister"). Before he realizes it, however, powder has thrown herself into his arms crying, saying "she left me" and "she's not my sister anymore", which are very two powerful seeds, that shift all the manipulative power to her and plant the seed of surrogate parenthood in Silco's brain. However unwittingly, she's just turned the tables, similar to the scene with the merchants trying to swindle huck out of a deal they made, until vander comes in and (quite literally, watch the camera effect and catch it!) turns the tables on the situation.
      A corollary of all this is that the legacy of Vander is split in half: Vi inherited the muscle (of course she's got a ton of brains too), but it's powder who can turn tables. I wonder if this was the desired effect and, if it was, am looking forward to see how they develop this plotline. You see, it is established pretty early on, that for peace to be a thing, you need a Vander and a Grayson. After they both get killed and are replaced in season 3 everything goes south, which is shown in an intentionally jarring way by fast-forwarding the next episode enough time so the viewer can feel the effects of their rule right away, i.e. without any plot happenning in between, giving those two characters figment status, of what is needed to maintain balance.
      If Vander is fragmented into Vi and Jinx, with his capacity to diffuse situations put into the character that's the powder keg of the story, it'll be interesting to see where that leads, especially if they don't retcon current canon which has Vi as an enforcer and Jinx generally antagonizing her at every chance she gets

      i took the inner demons of chalk monsters as her clinging to her childhood so to speak. what i mean is that throughout her adulthood in act 2-3 we see jinx perform almost childlike actions (cute quirky things like blowing on silco's medicine and not paying attention) and naming her weapons childlike names. i always assumed she was like this because she spent the rest of her childhood dealing with intense guilt/trauma and the aspect of "being a child" was stripped from her so she copes in a way that mirrors child mannerism. also a protection. it would make sense those chalk drawings carried over because she used to do it to her creations as a kid

    Cartoon Universe kept calling Mylo and Claggor, Powder's 'friends', and they might have had a friendly or even toxic relationship, but it might be better to call them family. Mylo, Claggor, Powder, and Vi were all adopted by Vander, making them adopted siblings. They could have had a best friend relationship, but at least Vi felt like she had a sibling/bestfriend relationship with them. While watching the series, I remember people talking to Vander and calling the group "his children," and that he just wants to protect "his children," referring to all of them, and I thought they might have called Vander dad at least once.

    I completely didn’t know anything about league of legends, so every single episode hit me like a truck. The way powder was broken down and manipulated with her childhood traumas was *shattering* for me. I already fell in love with the kid as an older sister and at the end of the season I realized I just sat there and watched her die. It was SUCH an emotional roller coaster just for her character alone- As for vi I feel so much for her, during that scene when powder came around after her bomb had already set off I CRIED lol. Because I’d also be so flushed with emotions I wouldn’t be able to see how I was hurting powders, and how her actions were gonna sit with her and create jinx. Not gonna lie- when I saw her again when she became jinx I was SO EXCITED to see her kickass but also torn on wether it was good for her or not lol. Also the way I could literally SEE powder flip in and out from jinx just by the animation was horribly groundbreaking for my emotional stability lmao. I just can’t shut up on how amazingly written powder to jinx was- she would jinx herself all the way up until the end, she killed her comrades and so she didn’t want to turn back and went with whatever wanted her. She kept killing because i think it was all she felt she was good for or good at. So she took on jinx because it was what she felt fitted her best. But once vi came back she was greeted with her own personal sign of forgiveness, that’s where powder flickered back and slowly started to rip jinx apart. After multiple shits hitting the fan we see her tie vi up at that table with her evil step father, after killing him she saw it was the wrong decision because it was powder that stopped him from shooting vi. To jinx there isn’t any right from wrong just Jinx from Powder. And to her powder made all the mistakes but jinx calls those her superpowers, all she believes is that she continues to kill the wrong people so she fully became jinx so that doesn’t need to bother her anymore. Or that’s how I feel I saw her grow into lol I could honestly go on about every single character but I’ll stfu eventually lmaoo. I didn’t know how much I felt for all this until writing this out

      Why didn't Jinx minigun kill all the skateboard guys (xpt Ekko obviously) when they interrupted Vi and Jinx reunion?
      ekko coulda taken vi cait away alone and one of the extra's was helplessly on the ground while jinx was confused and angry, reeally felt like they were saved by writing.
      to reinforce that thought, in that fight jinx closed distance and used her gun as a melee weapon instead of just shooting em dead.
      and in general, i think during the whole show she never actually hit anyone with her minigun(another jarring moment was just after timeskip on the zeppelin boat thingy and again, i get she can't hit Ekko, not because he's character, but his messing with time but all the other plebs shoulda just ate lead) xpt when story allowed for it(silco kill)
      Jinx is not a stormtrooper as we can see in her child phase in the shooting range, she hits every shot, the show established this early and then violates this for the rest of the show.
      really, not asking for kills per se, xpt for the first mentioned guy on the ground, but atleast let her hit.

    One small thing. We the LoL community had 2 main clues about Jinx and Vi being sisters for almost as long as the two were out in the game.
    First is a Line from Jinx which references "You think I'm crazy, You should see my sister!"
    And hints dropped outside of game by a riot staff member.
    These two things ended up combining to make the understanding that Vi and Jinx were sisters "Common Knowledge" for a very long time until Arcane being announced fully revealed it. For most of us who are long time fans in the LoL community who follow Lore the reveal was more of a 'Yeah we figured.' moment than anything else.

    For some people who are planning to play League, I'll prefer to play it with your friends at first. Then, if you are good and once you master/adapt your favorite champions' abilities you can do the Soloqueue. But League of Legends is not just only the game Riot had: there's a friendly you can also enjoy like the card game Legends of Runeterra (PC & mobile), Valorant(same to League if possible but FPS genre), Wild Rift(for phone users), Teamfight Tactics(Strategic Solo Game), and their newest games Hextech Mayhem(Rhythm) and Ruined King(RPG).... Enjoy!

But when I heard about the series and watched the trailer, it was one of those few moments in recent years I was excited for something.
    My hope would be I would enjoy the series without having to know every bit of lore detail. And thankfully, I didn't, apart from a few explainer videos I can find on UA-cam to tie things up. I was pins and needles through the whole series and very invested in Vi and Jinx, two examples of well written, strong female characters (I will include Caitlyn and Enforcer Grayson, despite her short appearance, she was awesome). The art style is beautiful, the fights were spectacular, nothing was held back. Vander became an immediate favorite for me and it was the first time I didn't know how things were going to pan out. I love Love LOVE the way Jinx’s character is written. She behaves irrationally. But that’s only bc her way of rationalizing certain events is the way any person would had they grown up and experienced loss like that, developed the same fears like that, and has had no other choice but to mentally cope with their trauma like that.
    This show overall, intentionally or not, has done a splendid job of portraying all that we know so far about trauma/ptsd. (and not just through Jinx’s character!) Things like dissociation, symbolic re-enactment, the desire to seek revenge/compensation, role replacements, role reversal, etc. LIKE ISTG!!!
    What. A. Stunning. Example of how rewarding it can be for stories to genuinely explore and earnestly attempt to portray human mentality, just in general why people behave and cope the way they do. I know someone already said this- but there really is not a single character you can’t sympathize with. Everyone is just trying to do whatever they think is best.

    I wouldn't say that playing the game neither adds or takes away from the experience of watching Arcane for the first time.

    I'm grateful that I went into this show with zero knowledge. I felt the story was decently written and engaging, but the biggest draw for me was the overall animation... the character movement felt fluid, the general atmosphere surrounded me and drew me in, as if I was a spectator *from* that world, and most of all, the facial expressions and emotions were like nothing I had experienced before in animation. It was just top notch. Even if the plot/individual story arcs were an afterthought, the incredible animation would have easily bridged the gap.
    It turns out that the fantastic animation coupled with a decent storyline made an amazing viewing experience for me, someone with zero knowledge & preconceptions upon starting the first episode.

LOL should also make more good male champions that would fit the Fantasy world of LOL. For example more warrior or soldier type male Champions. I love using warrior and solider type champions like Garen.
      Fun fact when Kindred was made a champion Iended up gaining Lamb and Wolf when I first played the game. And their still my favorite main champion next to Garen, Ziggs and so many more.
      But yeah league of legends is a cool game especially the lore of its world and champions (not the ones that don't male sense or are stupid.)
