@@ayush9791 for me…i tend to overthink everything and waste time figuring out the perfect plan. If I acted on my first instincts, I find they are usually right and when they aren’t I’ve learned valuable lessons. Don’t be afraid to fail, failing is learning. Failing and learning > stagnation. Plus it might just work out despite your doubts
The performer is a perfectionist…the writer knows they are funny. Jokes don’t have to be perfect, they just have to be funny. Things in life don’t have to be perfect, they just have to work.
@@ayush9791 I think another way to use this metaphor is to see your fears/anxieties as the performer who is experiencing them (think stage fright): the observer of your fear-based and developed perceived threats. Notice your performance anxiety and go back to the writing for the reality.
The writer authors your basic, factual script without the fearful sensations: Your logical, balanced script is there and can be built upon. I’m safe. I’m grounded. I’m present and okay. There’s no immediate threat. I tend to perceive threats based on my fears and anxieties, which change my performance. That’s you at the wheel. steering the wheel and giving cues to you as you perform.
It’s basically Dialectal Behavior Therapy and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (DBT and CBT).
I wouldn’t have taken the comment this way, but it sort of works. :)

Comedy, especially stand up, is art. I don't care what anyone else thinks. I have an art degree, I sell and exhibit paintings, I teach painting for a living, and everything Leslie and Conan are describing applies directly to the art making process. I quote stories by Eddie Murphy and Bill Hader about their experiences performing live to my painting students. It's all creativity. Same process, different medium.
I have written, produced, recorded and performed original music. I can very much identify with their process and experiences.

There is a button where you can flag a comment for hate speech. Unfortunately the amount of racist and prejudice comments on this site is way too high that they not all always removed.
When I first saw Leslie on SNL I didn't really like or appreciate her (Pete Davidson too for that matter). But they were likely shoehorned into that format and environment until they found their voice and were allowed to use it. I have since come to relish her comedy and style. Oh to be roasted by Leslie Jones....should that be on the bucket list?

@@christianw6819 some people have opinions outside of the general norm. I enjoyed both Leslie and Pete on SNL as well. Were they my favorites? Definitely not, but they were still pretty funny which is what matters.
