- In this update I share my progress on the Good army with the Elven King and Dain's forces being the latest additions. I talk a little about expanding the core game and my search for a decent Smaug. And I show off a DIY magnetic storage case.

Am loving this series of yours, you certainly know how keep the interest going. Again a stellar video and so inspiring. I have subscribed and hopefully so will many others
@Kymfre01 Really appreciate the kind words and I'm glad you're enjoying the project!
Ah I've I'd love to have this box set! Great paint Job on the 10mm minis and terrain! I'm just getting into this 10mm stuff, I love it! Working on a Minias Tirith Army at this scale, there's some awesome minis from Wakes Emporium for LOTR 10mm.
I hadn't heard of Wakes Emporium - it's a but tricky to navigate their page but the stuff I can see looks amazing! Really cool and stylistic proportions. Love the (not) Dune stuff on there too. Thanks for your kind words and good luck with your Gondorians. Do you have a rule system in mind for them?
Another option for the Smaug could be Great Red Dragon from Khurassan miniatures. It's scaled for 15mm figures so would definitely look imposing next to 10mm stand :)
Great looking set up and nice job on the figure painting, must start my collection soon as I keep going ill do it next year, have a look at the old ral partha dragons from the 80s there might be a better smaug there and I belive there still in production.
Thanks! I'll take a look at some Ral Partha dragons, thanks for the recommendation.
This is awesome! Even more so that I see you came back to youtube after 9 years :)
Ive always held Warmaster as the best miniature game ever made!
Thanks so much! I've really fallen in love with this scale - it looks so epic - but I'm yet to play any games of any Warmaster system. As soon as I've finished painting everything I'm going to start properly learning the rules.
I got this box set many years ago, half painted it and then forgot about it. It is buried in a storage closet. This make me want to dig it out.
Haha, I'm glad to have inspired you. Always good to finally finish a project and tick it off.
Alternative Armies makes some really nice 15mm Dragon. The Destroyer of Hope or the Old English Dragon would both make an excellent Smaug.
Ah, going up to 15mm is a good idea. I just had a look and they both have their charms. I like the in-flight pose of The Destroyer of Hope but I really like the design of Old English Dragon. Thanks for the recommendation!
Inspiring painting, more please!
Blimey, that's the first time my painting has been called inspiring. Thanks so much!
They look great! I picked up some Pendraken 10mm fantasy figures (including a familiar looking wizard) earlier in the year. I never really considered that scale but the idea of large pitched battles definitely appeals. It’s a shame GW didn’t do more Tolkien models in this scale.
Would be interested to hear your thoughts on the 28mm scale Smaug GW do.
Thanks! I definitely plan to pick up some Pendraken. Both as stand ins for my Battle of Five Armies (Rohan cavalry as Elven cavalry for instance) and just for their own sake. Would love to make a little Helms Deep scene or something.
They 28mm Smaug looks very impressive though I've never seen one in person. I can't imagine ever being able to play a game with it though. It puts me in mind of the old metal thunderhawk gunship in terms of impractability.
A 10mm Helms Deep would be so cool! I look forward to seeing it in a future video 😁😜
I got 1 of each extra at the time, except for Smaug, but was lucky enough to get one for a reasonably price a couple of years ago
I, however, used a 1919 25mm giant as a spare storm giant. It is a little smaller than the official one, but not by much, so if you have a 1979 Citadel Hill Giant, it should do
@colinspeirs Ah, I'm very jealous of the Smaug. It's the one thing I'm finding it hard to find a good alternative to. Elven Cavalry was tricky too but I think I found some which fit well.
I made a bargain few years ago and got the box with all the extra minis but without terrain (can live with it) and without the rulebook as well....since then I am on a mission to find one :D
That's great. It might be worth checking some of the other comments on the previous project vlogs as I have heard from a couple of people who have multiple copies of the game - with any luck they might be willing to sell on their spare rulebooks.
@@TimelessTabletopGaming great advice, thanks a lot!
