Mock interviews are intended to judge the mental caliber of a candidate. It gives the interviewee an opportunity to not only assess a candidate's intellectual abilities but also the social traits and awareness about the ongoing events at the national and global levels. The major attributes that are assessed in a candidate for the administrative role in the Govt. machinery are - mental alertness i.e., presence of mind, clear and logical interpretations, critical analysis, unbiased approach, an in-depth understanding of key issues, leadership skills, integrity and last but not the least an ability to possess social cohesiveness.
Mock interviews help the candidates immensely in making them ready for the final CSE Interview. It helps in shaping and grooming the personalities required to work as civil servants. Candidates are made aware of the requisites right from general interview norms to the attributes that are distinctly unique to their persona.

So, upsc should form a committee and look into the matter, that every year these so called rankholders and iitians are getting top ranks, why we don't see toppers from other background, and most of the rankholders have already qualified upsc previous year. We gave last year upsc cse exam, they made csat exam so technical that some students were unable to comprehend questions.
It is clear and evident that top beureucrats are enforcing pro sci-tec background student to clear the exam.
I would urge central government also to look into this matter and that to rankholders giving exam many times.

I wish the camera was more focused on the candidates instead of the interviewers even if they are asking the questions. A lot can be said about the candidate when he's listening to the questions, with his body language and facial expressions
