    I do not really understand why it cannot be connected to any other receiver? Why can’t it be tested with a different spektrum or futaba flight receiver? I’m thinking about getting one but I do not want to use that radio I have a DX12!

    It's definitely an head turner. It looks great on the truck and you can move actually remote control it. I hope to see more vendor releasing stuff like that.
    If you don't want to bore more holes you can try to glue it down with something like silicone glue. It's a very large surface, the glue would have a lot of grip, and silicone should not ruin the paint (but test first!) and it's easy to remove if you change your mind without major damage.

    • @antrc
      @antrc 5 років тому

      I think Andrew will cry just as much with either solution. I think I feel happier about it being bolted down. That way there is no chance of the glue giving way and it come down on the cab 😱

    • @chiccorocker
      @chiccorocker 5 років тому

      @@antrc but now I'm curious: how would Andrew attach the crane? :)

    • @antrc
      @antrc 5 років тому

      @@chiccorocker a good question Enrico. As the rig stands, I'm with Tel on bolting it down mainly because if it does roll over - and that's a real risk with it onboard - I'd be happier that they would keep the crane attached and thus stop a full roll.
      Now, in terms of mounting a crane ideally? Straight on the chassis 100% but that means either a new shorter bed - MC4 one for example - or building the whole back end up from scratch. Neither is a simple or cheap option.

    • @antrc
      @antrc 5 років тому

    Can you use the Trasped transmitter to drive the truck as well as operate the crane? I think it would be good to make a hole in the bed for the wire lead and run it under the bed, with a servo extension, to the receiver. You can remove the crate battery box and replace it with the crane box to locate both the receiver and the battery. It has to mount a good distance from the crane anyway, for it to be able to rotate without hitting.
    Anyway, nice video and thanks for sharing!!!

    • @antrc
      @antrc 5 років тому

      You could yes but I prefer my spektrum dx5c for driving the rig. The crane wont get used that much so taking it along wont be a problem. When the crane is raised it will turn around without hitting the control box next to it. It's only when it is folded up. Thanks for the comments. Glad you like the video 👍

  • @BlueDually4x4
    @BlueDually4x4 5 років тому +1

    That boom extend is hilariously slow, but over all it does look really good. I wonder if it would be possible to redo the electronics in it so you could use different radios or get a little more voltage so it moves a little quicker. Do the holes in the mount line up with the holes for the wooden crate? If the battery fits in the green box that would let you mount the crane closer to the cab. I'm not familiar with the truck itself.

    • @antrc
      @antrc 5 років тому

      I think you would need to change all the motors. So for that reason it is staying as it is. I have had to cut a slit in the base of the crane. The wire now runs into the box next to the crane 👍

    If you haven’t already sorted the speed issue try changing the ubec for something that can deliver more amps. Cheaper Ubecs are often only set up to deliver 1 or 2 amps for a couple of low powered servos. The crane will probably need 4 or 5 amps to work at its designed speed. The specs will probably give you a better idea.
