    It’s SO great to hear someone rave about From Below. Definitely one of my favorite books of all time and it just doesn’t get enough attention!! Subscribing based on our mutual love of this book hehe

      Haha! Well, I'm to have you here. That book blew me away. I'm so excited to read her new book this year. It seems like her books just keep getting better and better.

    From below is the single most unsettling thing I've ever read except maybe the southern book clubs guide to hunting vampires. It was so creepy and scary and horrifying I almost threw my kindle several times.

    I am a HUGE Darcy Coates fan. I have every single book of hers, and have read all of them. If I have to pick one book that I would call my least favorite, it would be "The House Next Door". I really could not connect with that one, but it was by far not a bad book at all. Otherwise, they are all highly recommended reads in my view!
    I love the fact that you pointed out how her books feel, I thought I was wierd having those thoughts. I'm glad I'm not alone with this😊.
    Love your channel!!!

    Just finished Parasite today and I get what you mean about switching characters after being invested in the previous story. I felt that way after Station 334 I wanted more Saul and Maren. But overall a very fun read.

    I just found your page! I think we're the same person! LOL! I feel the same way about the short stories at the end of a book! I agree with most of your opinions on these books, but I love Darcy Coates. She is a phenomenal writer! My favorite book so far has been The Haunting of Leigh Harker! So good!

    Calling her books pallet cleansers is perfect! The audiobook I just read was BRUTAL! Like hard to get through kind of brutal! So going back to Darcys books was perfect! She is kind of my "old reliable"

    • @AndaKent
      @AndaKent  Рік тому +1

      Exactly! They're very pleasant for horror books. You feel satisfied after reading them and that doesn't happen often in horror.

    I liked From Below, especially towards the end. For whatever reason, though, I had a harder time connecting to the characters than I have in the other Darcy Coates books I've read.

  • @theCrownofSympathy
    @theCrownofSympathy Рік тому +3

    I've read about 10 or so books by Darcy Coates. She's a little hit or miss for me personally, but I agree that her books are good palette cleansers. Her books remind me of a more adult version of Goosebumps sometimes, which isn't a bad thing. The ones I enjoyed the most were The Folcroft Ghosts, The House Next Door, Gallows Hill, and The Haunting of Rookward House.

    • @AndaKent
      @AndaKent  Рік тому +1

      I think that's a good description and probably why I love them so much (I still love me some Goosebumps). I haven't read any of the ones you've enjoyed besides Gallows Hill, so I guess I'll have to read 12 more this year. Thanks for the recommendations!

    I just subscribed to your channel recently! You have inspired me to get back into reading again! I am a full time nursing assistant and also in college part time, so I have recently neglected reading which sucks because I love reading a good book. I usually lean more towards like fantasy, witches and vampires etc but I do love watching spooky stuff, so will have to read more horror 😊❤💜 xxx

    Parasite is a good book ( still reading it) I would say if you liked Jhon carpenters the thing then you would like the book as in my opinion the monsters are similar. Hunted which is my favorite book i love because it reminded me of a Steven king book called the girl who loved Tom Gordon both take place in the forest and are books that seem like they could happen in real life

    As of now I've only read the haunting of Ashburn house first and the haunting of Blackwood house after because I had enjoyed the haunting of Ashburn house so so so much, but Blackwood kind of let me down. The plot twist was insane and the house's background, but the main character was just so insufferable to me I just couldn't get around her. And the other characters too, I just didn't feel much connection to them, like I felt with Ashburn's main character. Idk, I'll re-read Blackwood again and Ashburn after because I feel like I didn't enjoy them like I should've, but yeah, blackwood's character kind of let me down

    I LOVE HORROR, I JUST KEEP IT CLEAN. I WAS RAISED TO BE AN ATHEIST, BUT THIS CHANGES EVERYTHING AND AMAZES EVERYONE I TELL IT TO. . First, it is impossible that anything you can touch, taste, hear, see or smell on the face of the earth, be it lighting, tornadoes, rocks, life, minerals from salt to plutonium or anything that can be seen with the powerful telescope we have in orbit and beyond what we can see, that could possibly exist without having been created. Because of this, we can be sure that everything that is made had to be made where there was absolutely nothing to make it out of. PEACE.
