Agree, keep it honest, but a tip on video receivers, they all use the same chip and reference design. If you can see the guts you should find 2 Rx modules where true diversity is used or 1 module with the antennas joined together. I can validate there are only 2 chips that do 5ghz analog video. Quite likely this one only uses 1 module but it’s also likely to be the same one as rapid fire used, they only cost about $10. Like you said though nothing wrong with starting on $80 for screen and rx.
I have the real og ev800. Non diversity. And i love them as a second pair for bench testing and to hand out for ride alongs. The reception is surprisingly good even with just one antenna
FXT Vipers are great! For a spectator screen that new fpv watch from Eachine is actually pretty decent. One of the few dvr units that actually has fast forward and reverse capabilities.
I received my EV800DM this week. Been trying to fly with them for the last couple of days. The overall quality of the goggles is good, but man the screen is so small and definitely not at the resolution that is advertised. Disappointed. Back to my EV800's unfortunately.
I like your honesty Nick! Not just saying it's good just make the distributor happy. I use the ev800d and I really enjoy them but I am looking for something new.
Wow Nick. Great review. Ps You have come such a long way in these past two years. Very happy for you and your health. Much love from West coast Canada.
A huge part of the benefit of the ev800d's is the bench aspect. I've used mine for over 1 year on the bench, after I swapped to aomway v1. This new version lacks that...I guess you can hack it apart. I also use the fresnel lens part as micro soldering goggles - so the DM's lose out again. They are probably a better goggle, but worse all round value.
Hi Nick Great video and review of the New Eachine EV-800M , I have the EV-800D's and I thought that they were the best box Google's ever, I thought when the EV-800m was going to be as good but every review I watched on them say the same thing, THE FOCUS ! But Eachine put a smaller screen that just sounds like it won't work. But if I had to purchase a new box set again it definitely would be the old reliable EV-800D's
Dig the new lighting Nick, looking real pro now :) The original EV800D's all the way, but I do like the smaller screen size, but too bad it's not as good of a screen. Thanks for the honest review.
Enjoy the review. Short sweet and to the point! I have the original ev800d. That in my opinion is one of the best options out there for new pilots as well as experienced Pilots. They should have just added a USC C connector for charging and improved the internal DVR. It figures eachine is now owned by banggood and that explains it all. Not very good decisions coming from a big company. They've stopped listening to the consumer.
I got these as my first so I did not have anything to compare the quality to. With my eyesight , I could not focus even with the screen all the way out , but I noticed that I could focus if I placed it about an inch further away . I opened it up , pulled the screen out beyond the stop and taped in place with black electrical tape , and now I focus fine. It just sits a bit longer , but at least I could use it. I think they are adequate but like I said its the only pair I have,
Dude, thanks for posting. I picked up the original original, the non diversity antenna model back in the day. I use them all the time when bench testing in monitor form. Also my kids prefer using them, better for their smaller faces than my spare FS attitudes. Of course I hacked mine to add DVR. I recommend prospective buyers save their money for a better set of goggles, but that is just my two cents. If they could be used like a monitor as the old ones, then they are worth it.
Yeah, resolution is 500 x 300, it's the *identical* 3" screen as in VR006 for years now. They removed that screen as an available VR006 replacement item from their shop, and crammed it into "new" goggles.
Thanks for the info Nick. I recommend the original pair all the time to noobs and was wondering if the new ones where better. Separation of the case is an important characteristic of the goggles when I pass that info on to others.. Enjoy the Breeze...👍🏻🍻👊🏻
Must have some focus issues Nick. This is my goggle I used everyday and race with. Mine has a beautiful crisp screen the trumps my original 800s by far!!! I love them hey if is wasn't for these i would be able to afford to FPV my drones.
Hi Nick, thank you very much for your honest review!!!. I'm in search of my fpv glasses, I like 800d and 800dm, I use glasses like you. Is the 800d compatible with myopia glasses? I mean to use the glasses that we have without modifying the fpv ones
There's a big issue with these goggles... when recording.. if there is momentary RSSI issues then the recording will freeze... so on play back you have the full video but at the point of signal loss the image will be frozen and nothing after but audio.
@@NickBurnsFPV Big betty already took care of those LS800D's I have a review of them and show what happens to equipment that does not make the grade. Big Betty takes care of them.

I have the DMs. Have you had any luck running a simulator through them? I get the Blue AV screen in the goggles but can't get the screen to mirror in the googles. Any help would be appreciated.
I haven't connected goggles to a computer, my suspicion is the resolution the computer is on, it likely much to high for the goggles. Set the computer resolution to its lowest setting and see what you get.
Its difficult for me, as I haven't used either version of the recon, I do hear more positive experiences with the scout version. Of those I can only recommend the ev800d.
