Yes, same here :) Almost 10 years... trying to get the software render of this game, I could get it 3 years ago with virtual systems (VMware, PCem, VirtualBox, etc) and zaps166 patch, but I wanted more, I wanted the REAL software render without being faked by thrash drivers and emulating systems; it's really a relief I can play it, in peace...
@@sewal8788 did you use virtual box at this moment to play the game in software rendering? And how did you make it run so smoothly? On modern systems, the game works like in 20-30 fps. Please tell me! And there is one more thing NFS2SEN gone black screen and crashed after launching it, even in compatibility mode
@@akimov7043 I didn't use virtual systems Disabling GPU scaling might help to get the game running smoothly, you can check my guide that I left in the description I had black screen when my GPU had issues , be sure if your GPU drivers are well and without any issues In aqrit.cfg you can test these settings RealDDrawPath = AUTO BltMirror = 0 BltNoTearing = 0 ColorFix = 1 DisableHighDpiScaling = 0 FakeVsync = 1 FakeVsyncInterval = 20 ForceBltNoTearing = 1 ForceDirectDrawEmulation = 1 NoVideoMemory = 1 SingleProcAffinity = 1 ShowFPS = 0 And don't forget that you always need to mount the ISO before you run the game
i like software mode on old games like nfs 2 ps1 epsxe emulator half life counter strike software mode making realistic pixel i feel good with software mode
Thanks so much for the download of NFS2SE! I've tried multiple times in the past to get it to work on modern OSes, without success. But your download works, and has great renderer options! I turned-off fog, shading, and filtering, and set it to use the classic, non-SE NFS2 textures, and set the brightness level to 1. That's basically the original look, and I like that look the most. Though, sometimes the game freezes on the logo screen, after the intro videos, and then I can't force-close the program and need to ctrl + alt + del and sign-out of Windows to get rid of it and get control of my PC again. Do you know what causes this and how it might be fixable?
@@sewal8788 Thanks for that tip! There's no "FullscreenMode" line in the ini, should I add it? Edit: I added "FullscreenMode = borderless" to nfs2se.ini, but the game still launches in dedicated fullscreen mode. Edit 2: I found which inis have the FullscreenMode line in them. I changed them from Exclusive to Borderless. But the game still switches to exclusive fullscreen after the 3Dfx logo. BTW, I think the nGlide renderer more accurately replicates the original 3Dfx look of the game. That's my impression, anyway. Glide 3x seems to have less issues, though.
@@sewal8788 I had to repost my previous comment, as YT deleted it after I edited it for a third time. :/ After launching the game many times after making the Borderless ini change, I haven't encountered a single freeze on startup where I used to occasionally get one. The game seems to still be going into exclusive fullscreen mode after the 3Dfx logo, though. Also, after made the Borderless ini change, the nGlide renderer no longer displays at the set resolution. It seems to always display the max resolution of 7k or something, which is too big to see anything on the screen. I also had one CTD occur after making that ini change, though I don't know if it was related.
3dFx really looks nice ngl. The difference is huge. Too bad it didn't get Direct3D version, that way texture resolution could still remain high. Monolithic studios on 3dFx looks bad though. It's too dark.
When I try running nfs2en.exe after installing the patch, it goes to a flickering black screen loop. Can’t exit the program until I sign out. Any ideas why this is happening?
Anyone knows if there is some controller fix or something to that game? My Xbox One S/X controller (using wired) can't be all remaped on options!! The buttons simply don't be recognized, only the left axes and the triggers!

As a 12 year old, I remember dreaming of getting a 3dfx card, but my dad told me to keep dreaming because it's not happening. 🤧😭
3Dfx has more... effects, but software always had much better contrast in those early days

However in PS1 tunnel in proving grounds has red flicker which influences on car and even interior reflection

Try changing FullcreenMode = borderless in the .ini, it's more stable. Only works for Windows 8+ however
