This really gave me a lot of motivation to see the children and young practitioners, I hope one day I will get that level
    .
It would be great if they gave classes in my country or go to another country to receive classes.
I feel that it would be difficult for me because of my age, my studies, my school and so on, but they see what they say: "It's never too late to learn".

  • @MaharlikaAWA

Reason people are not practicing martial arts much anymore:
    1. MMA. People were shown that to really fight there is more to it than just exercise or forms. Without knowledge of what the forms mean people got confused and thought there were worthless and just want to do extreme fitness and sparring and stuff like that.
    2. Tricking. People do not want to take time to train real martial arts styles and do not want to learn to fight. They are afraid to spar and want to sow off doing acrobatic tricks and not a traditional system.
Those are 2 extremes in different directions of martial arts. The true martial artists will practice forms plus actual fighting as well and not only focus on sport sparring or tournaments, but are not afraid of it either. And they do not do martial arts just to show off either and perform tricks. So somewhere between 1 and 2 are the people who train in real martial arts. We need to promote this balance more!

    • @MaharlikaAWA

      Perfect Cell Explain.
Does Martial Club hold to the belief that not many people are training and studying in martial arts right now and that martial arts are dying and going extinct?
With the popularity of MMA how is this so?
With the popularity of tricking how is this so?
Maybe bc MMA does not focus on the styles and systems of martial arts so the MMA community.is not concerned with martial arts. Tricking is definately not a martial art and most trickers admit to this. Yet they practice kicks for show but not styles of combat.
Explain how I am wrong. Facts not "feelings" since you are telling me how you feel.

    • @monkeyslap
      @monkeyslap 5 років тому +1

@@MaharlikaAWA In a way, the traditional martial arts has been slowly dying for centuries. Maybe not necessarily dying outright... Some aspects of the martial art will evolve and adapt. Other aspects though are completely lost. Why?
      1. Marketing. Masters have to structure their teaching in a way that will attract customers. Poor advertisement, personality of the instructor, etc. may dissuade customers from learning. I'm sure many or most masters would teach for free out of enjoyment and tradition, but they also have to make a living. Teaching martial arts for a living doesn't exactly make you a millionaire.
      2. Time. Modern society doesn't have time to be spending on this "extracurricular activity". People will take a class because they got inspired by a recent movie then drop out after a few months, others drop out because they have "better" things to do, or are consumed by work. Rarely do you find the individual that stays in a single martial arts for more than a few years.
      3. Dedication. Relating to the above, most students don't stay in a martial art long enough for the master to teach them everything they know. This results in a loss of knowledge transfer. The people who know "everything" die off, and the next generation knows even less.

Martial arts is alive and well, but the traditional martial arts is rare. I hope more people will recognize the importance of traditional styles. It doesn’t deserve to go extinct. It is the foundation of where every martial artist is and wants to be.

This reminds me of when I used to do demos like 15 years ago. Hard basketball court floor? No problem! Cement? No problem! It was brutal. You don't REALLY feel the impact when you're performing, but when you first get to a venue and see there's no considerate accommodations for the event, you just know the guy who has to demo Di Tang is wishing he forgot to come.
And, OMG I'm so sick of hearing the Wong Fei Hung theme song!

Out of curiosity were the other judges experienced at judging contests?
Couldn't help but wonder if the same thing might be going through their heads if they were judging for the first time and may have all been looking at the other judges scores hoping their's would also be in line with the others.
But made me laugh knowing you had no direction on how to score so were marking people randomly to 3 significant figures meaning that you were effectively giving them a maximum score of 1,000. I can understand why as don't want to give a low score and want to appear that you know what you are doing so guessing you gave everyone a 9 so they didn't feel bad then did the next number as an actual mark out of 10 based on their performance and am guessing the last digit was a random number to make it seem like there was a complicated scoring system. Am I close?
I don't think it will matter how you score the competitors as will see which ones are better and how much better and give them a higher score to reflect the higher skill, so have no doubt that the best competitor will have won regardless and more important to have an experienced martial artist that knows what to look for in terms of skill level than an experienced judge as someone may have a scorecard and issue a score based on ticking boxes but if they don't understand which direction the toes should be pointing in a specific move in order for the power to be directed to the strike or which target a strike should be aimed, or even where the focus is of the competitor while performing a form etc. then will not be as fair or good a judge as an experienced martial artist that can look at someone's posture in their first stance and instantly know how good they are.
