We should all be thankful we are subscribed to Shane. His videos literally added like 40% of my knowledge about college 😂
Yup, he also made me realize the value college can truly be
Yeah . I agree with you, bro .
Why Shane didn't give the stats of the Liberal Art Degree of hours per week or GPA?
I hope he does a research about St. John's College to see if such Liberal Arts degree is easy.
That college has two campuses, Annapolis and Santa Fe, about 700 students in two campuses combined, a really tiny college, ultra-personalized education.
The workload there is INSANE (he can confirm this with alumni). Even studying your whole wake hours, you wouldn't finish the workload, which is potentially infinite. Its only degree is a Liberal Arts Major, but in practice is more like a dual major in Philosophy and Math.
Aron Wall, one of the top new physicists of our time, did undergrad there. And they have other brilliant STEM minds that studied there (and there would be more if more people would realize how well they prepare scientific minds for a scientific research career, even with this so generalist major).
For more examples, the ones going into Law school get into places like Harvard Law without nobody making a big deal about it at the College, they're used to it.
He is revealing all secrets 😶
if that's the case i fear for your grades
How about the hardest majors that pay the least?! It would be an interesting video. It doesn’t have to be low pay but it is considered low pay relative to the difficulty of the major.

the amount of people I know with "Business Administration" degrees is ridiculous
How's their career?
@@ShaneHummus most of them don't have proper jobs - probably shop assistant, useless in the current job market
I know someone with a mba in business administration barely being able to secure employment for 54k max working for Amazon as a supervisor. That tells me everything I need to know.
I was contemplating on this since my college doesn’t offer too many majors that are profitable. But at the end of a day, it’s all about learning more and improving your skill set, as well as experience.
So is business not a good degree?
Hey there. As an English major myself, I do have to admit that a good number of people just major in English, either merely because they think that it's going to be easy, or maybe because they have absolutely no idea what they want to major in, and thus choose English just to choose something.
In my own personal experience, though, this major is not for everyone. It can be very challenging, to put it mildly. I have had to study everything from logic, python, biolinguistics, education, terminology, and translation (translation being a very much underrated field, as far as I am concerned), to existential, continental, and ancient Greek philosophy, film, Shakespeare, theatre, language disorders, evolutionary biology, and even law.
Don't go to college for an English degree just because you think you're going to get by without studying. There have been plenty of days that I had to spend more than 10 hours (or even more during finals), in order to be able to cover all the material necessary. The reading lists are extensive, and you'll need to spend more time that you think.
Keep in mind that my first language is not English, which can sometimes make things more difficult for me (in comparison to a native speaker), and also I take extra classes every semester, just to be able to graduate on time because I had to change the specialisation of my degree.
I start my fourth year (and final) year in about a week. Hopefully, all goes well. The one advantage that I have over the majority of students, especially from the US, is that my degree is completely free due to the wonderful European university system. I just have to deal with living costs, books, and that's pretty much it, no tuition fees whatsoever. Even for my first master's degree (hopefully in enterprise risk management, human resources, or in shipping), I will have to pay 8k at most because I'll be attending graduate school via distance learning, and as I already said, European universities are very affordable (and, in many instances, much better that their US counterparts).
A piece of advice that I have for pretty much every single person (particularly from the USA) who wants to go to college, please, please, really do consider studying abroad in Europe (that is, not only as an exchange student because you will still have to pay very high tuition fees). You will thank me later. A year's worth of your tuition fees in the US can sometimes even cover your entire degree in a European university. That has been my case precisely. By the end of the degree, I will have spent about 35k, everything included.
For all the people out there who wish to experience a different way of life, learn a new language, learn about different cultures, gain a new different kind of perspective on life, give Europe a go. Great countries to go include France, the Netherlands, Belgium, Austria, Germany, and many, many more.
For all my fellow Humanities lovers out there, don't be discouraged. If you are determined to pursue a Humanities degree, by all means, go ahead. You can later pursue studies in business, for instance, and increase your chances of employment drastically. Business people with Humanities backgrounds are some if the most valuable employees any company can have. We are needed more than we think.
Even if my comment helps one single person in their attempt to find out what they wish to pursue at university, that's more than enough for me.
Have a wonderful day, everyone.
Best,
K
May I know where u r studying in Europe? & what kind of a career are you planning to have?
I’d say education definitely depends on what state your in. In the south it’s much much easier to become a teacher, however in PA and New York there are a lot more hurdles to becoming a teacher regarding classes, gpa, government clearance, etc. also depends on what education degree you get in my humble opinion secondary Ed is significantly harder in most circumstances the early childhood ed.

Psych major here: Some of the content is just basic memorization, sure, but a significant facet of the information you learn is extremely abstract and takes more than popping open your textbook. I can not tell you how futile it is to try and conceptualize what a certain mental illness looks like when you only have definitions. You need to watch videos, listen to first or second-hand (preferably first-hand) testimonies, and read books by real therapists. Bonus points if you observe an episode or are very close to someone with the mental illness. I wish I knew all of this sooner and didn't assume psychology was an "easy" major because now I feel like I'm behind my peers.
But I get it. It's too easy to get an A for the intro classes, imo.
its easy compared to other majors, doesn't mean you don't need to work for it
I’m an accounting major, I study/dedicate around 20 hrs a week to my classes and I’m barely passing. Keep in mind I work 40 hours a week as well as a teachers assistant for elementary school. Definitely wished I picked general business administration 😭

I have a journalism degree, and while it was earned in 1988, the situation wasn't that different back then. There really isn't much studying for journalism classes. That's not a knock against the degree... you learn journalism by doing, not reading or studying. I took journalism not because it was easy, but because writing is what I wanted to do and is what I do now as a marketing communications content writer.
Great video Shane! The easiest college degree I guess is one that does not stress you out and feels like just playing.

As a Comm/PR concentrated graduate, I was able to branch off into marketing as in reality, it's all the same stuff. (Granted I DO live right outside of NYC so opportunities in the PR/Marketing field are awesome) BUT I don't regret my degree whatsoever! As I've moved up the latter over the past 3 years I've been able to make a pretty nice income.. and it wasn't super easy - as many people like to preconceive it to be.
This gives me hope because I’m a PR student 3rd year and was worried about future job prospects ! Living in LA so should be the same amount of opportunities.
An easy degree is graphic design. also pays pretty well and if you get into ux or ui design pays REALLY well. You can work your way up to Art Director or even creative director. It's a career that teaches you how to interact with clients and if you want you can start your own business or work for a company and freelance on the side..I used my graphic design skills to start a print on demand business that makes passive income each month. Also you really don't even need to go to school to learn it but the degree looks better on your resume.
Do you need talent to be a graphic designer? Seems interesting but im bad at drawing
I needed to hear this. I'm currently working to double major in Graphic Design and Communication!
@@papaamericaa no you don’t need to be good at drawing to be a graphic designer. There are a lot of designers who aren’t good at drawing. You just have to get familiar with design elements and learn the Adobe softwares.

Good choice! The demand is booming. Salary: is booming in variable rates.
I think it depends honestly. I got my first degree in Dec 2020 in supervision and management. But I was working jobs (though minimum wage). I went back to school to get a 2nd degree in data analytics and will graduate in the summer of 2022. It is contingent upon the college or university one chooses to attend and the professors. Although I did very well, most students say Psychology is not easy at all. I love English and Writing, thus, I did very well in those subjects too. I earned several degrees and working on the last one.
I have Associate degrees in Performing Arts and Psychology. I have a Bachelors degree in Psychology with a double minor in Forensic Psychology and pre-Law. Moreover, I have a Masters of Science degree in Education with a Specialization in Brain Research.
Lastly, I am finishing up my Doctorate after having to take a medical leave. Nevertheless, I graduated with highest honors with distinction in undergraduate school. Then I continued on and graduated top of my class, a summa cum laude (4.0 GPA) in graduate school.
I also earned a few postgraduate level certificates. I would not say any of the aforementioned degrees were easy. I had professors who intentionally made the work difficult, especially law school. The Law school professors were constantly creating ruses.

@@alphawavesready6639 I'm doing my bachelor's in economics rn, and you can get jobs in the same stuff you do with a business degree, like jobs in accounting, finance, marketing, consulting etc. You don't make a crazy amount of money right after college, but once you work at an entry-level job making 60k-ish for a few years you can work your way up and be making 6-figures pretty soon. Yay! Thank you!
I can see the point of this video but to everyone out there you shouldn’t choose a major based on what’s easiest. Nothing worthwhile in life will be easy in anyway so do something you actually enjoy even if it’s hard
Disclaimer : I know some of you came here to be lazy, but even with the easiest majors still have to put in the work. It’s college .
Haha true!
Hard disagree on finishing an education program early. Solid education programs will have a fairly substantial in classroom (internship) component that can't really be sped through.
Of course, given how poorly US culture treats teachers it's not worth the work, but that's the fault of our country, not a program (though that would be for 4 years. Six years is completely bonkers as the standard for any bachelor's program).
And, a long time ago, this is the advice I got from a classmate that helped get me toward academic success. He simply said he was clueless about choosing a major, what classes to take. So he was just going with what worked the easiest for him. There's a lot of reasons this is a good tactic. But a downside is that it may not be a good idea if the student is attending an expensive school, which is where junior (or community) colleges can seriously save the day. As far as I'm concerned, JC's are the go-to colleges for completing lower division without incurring much debt, and permitting a bit of majors switching without decimating the budget. Also, JC's make it clear what is and isn't transferrable or applicable toward 4 yr. degree requirements. So if the goal is the 4 yr degree, then simply don't take any nontransferable/nonapplicable courses!.
Easiest college degree = unemployment

I think anyone hiring managers would disagree with your emphasis on specialization. In the short run (right out of college) specialists will find jobs easily and at higher rates of pay. But it also true that finding top level managers rarely come from those who specialize. A well rounded education with insight in dealing with people coupled with exposure to a broad spectrum of subjects is still acutely needed and sadly in short supply.
Short supply? 70% of people in the US go to college. A "well rounded education" is the norm now
Shane you said in other videos that Business Administration is not very lucrative or promising job prospective wise. I’m guessing that you think Business Administration is not very lucrative but it’s quite decent anyway and far better than some other majors like psychology and biology.

I’m in the marketing field. Almost everything is going digital, but tbh, I’m studying general marketing. IMO, digital marketing was much too specific whereas Business Administration Marketing, which is what I’m studying (along with working in the field), rounds you out and doesn’t close the door to other opportunities!
I majored in Communication Sciences, and Disorders for Speech therapy. Which average study time per week was about 30hrs with many tests, projects, and a competitive Masters Program. My friend majored in Recreational and Leisure studies. Even though the classes were simple, she had to write a bunch of papers. Our senior year, last semester, she had to write a paper that was at least 50 pages. I think it’s because you don’t need a masters for this major.
Can you do a video on whether it is recommended to do a masters degree immediately after bachelors or should we have work experience first?

#1 Gender Studies. Just say you hate men. Degree granted.
In your research about the easiest major, you shouldn't have included IQ. IQ just measures one's ability to recognize patterns. IQ, in no way, represents their skill in their major or their smartness.
However, I love your contents❤
It does play into your ability to do things, especially on harder tasks, which is usually more fascinating and pays more.

@@allenzhang8261 Nope, IQ isn't closely related to what you just said. Chess players have a very high IQ(did you know the best Chess player in the history had 192 IQ whereas Einstein's was 160), I don't think playing chess is what most people would find fascinating. Also most of the chess players don't earn much.
Many people with much lower IQ has done wonders in many fields (which also includes being billionaire) solely basing on their Experience and Skillset.

Hi, so I have a question. I am in my freshman year of college and my major was computer science. It was a wakeup call for me for sure because I realized I did not like coding and programming. Computer science in general just was not for me but I still wanted to have a career in the tech so I changed my major Information technology but at my school, this degree falls into the business category so the name of the degree is "Business information technology." I noticed that business degrees were one of the majors that fell in the easy majors category. My question is how hard or easy is a Business information technology degree ?
First off, good for you for noticing you didn’t like CS & changed your major instantly. You saved wasted time & money. As for your question, it varies on the institution since the curriculum may be similar or different depending on the college. I’ve seen many schools have a tech degree in the business school & I think you’ve made a great decision because you’re getting the best of both worlds-business & tech. Many companies need a liaison that can speak both languages & with this Business Information Technology, you’ll be able to do just that. And to ease your mind, I know peers of mine who also majored in CS, didn’t like it, changed to another related tech degree, & are now working in many roles in tech. Reach out to other students, particularly upperclassman, if you can & ask them about their experiences! Good luck!

For creating your own degree, is there like a Solar Energy degree? Just started working for a solar distribution company and would love to move up, I feel like I wanna learn more about the technology In the solar panels
So I'll majoring in Study studies
English should be off the list...I am not comparing it to aerospace engineering or applied math but it is so much harder than people think...I did BA in English and MA in Business and honestly, the business one was so easy I wanted to drop out because my brain was not getting stimulated enough !!!
It is funny and shocking to me how people ask what easy degree is out there in order to study that! literally I was bored to death with my business postgraduate and it was so easy I felt I was doing some easy cheap certificate online instead of a university degree...
Some colleges have "Interdisciplinary Studies" that is probably another name for "General Studies".
How about fine art?
Hi, honestly English is not my first language do you think English could be hard for me in college? I'm a senior this year. I'm worried about this English subject. Is it hard in college English?
