great quality for this video!! I was 9 years old, probably watching the game laying on the top / back of the couch while my dad was laying on the couch! Go Giants!
Growing up as a kid in the70's watching the Giants every week was my life. Ya they lost every week but I was there again the following week cheering them on. This Giants defense had some quality players. This video brings back a lot of Giants memories.
You gotta admit this is impressive. Billy Kilmer was drafted as & played RB for SF. Gets his legs messed up in an accident. Decides, ok, I’m gonna play QB in the NFL then. And does it. Pretty damn impressive.
A sad parallel that Allen's coaching security was slowly evaporating just like Coryell's in St. Louis. Both owners misfired, St. Louis not even making the playoffs again until the expanded strike playoffs of 1982 (16-41 Packers), the Skins under Pardee losing 8 of their last 10 in 1978 to finish 8-8, before one last gasp in 1979 which ended at Roger Staubach's hands.
that kinda looks like the redskins of today . missing tackles and fumbles ! got a penalty on a TD . but thats crazy because I wasnt even 1 year old during this game
This was the last hoorah for Allen and the over the hill gang, though they finished with a winning record they missed the play offs and that was sufficient excuse for the Redskins brass to let Allen go the game is a good summary of what went wrong,an offense built around running but after a promising rookie season Mike Thomas didn't pan out and if memory serves Riggins was out with a knee injury most of the season, which put too much pressure on Kilmer who was an excellent QB for a ball control offense but wasn't going to beat you throwing 35 times either, lack of ball control put the defense on the field too much and the age showed and missed tackles and mistakes ensued. I'm not convinced Allen couldn't have fixed it but it would not have been via the draft
They had no draft picks because Allen traded them all away and he stuck with his veterans too long. Theismann should have played and Buggs should have supplanted Taylor sooner
@@howardcosell2022 not disagreeing the future can only be now for so long but a healthy Riggins and an off season acquisition or two might have set the offense on better ground, was Kilmer past his prime? Sure, but There was a reason Thiesmann wasn't used, he had didn't command the respect of the team and wouldn't really be a champion QB until he was under Gibbs tutelage . Loved Buggs since he was a WVU guy but he was no Charlie Taylor. Ultimately as fond as I was of Allen and the Over the Hill Gang, and as poorly as his dismissal was handled, it worked out for the Skins. Remember though Bobby Beatherd and later Charlie Casserly built the core of the championship teams from free agents and low round picks and plan B guys later on. Monk and Green being exceptions

I love these old vids of Giant games but the fact is the O. really stunk in those days. The D. had some very good players, sadly not enough...Piscarcik an NFL quality qb, really?...I hated George Allen...

Same here.
In the 1970’s as a kid, we lived for watching the Giants on Sunday afternoons.
as a Los Angeles Rams fan i had the opposite experience growing up in the 1970's. all we did was win every week.

Oh, god, the Pisarchik years.
Nobody could find an open linebacker better than Pisarcik
RIP Doug kotar 1951-1983
Thanks for uploading
Brad van pelt was a tackling machine
you post too many comments. this isn't your personal chat session to record every thought that pops into your head.

Amazing quality video in regards to the year, 1977. 👍🏼
Finally danelo makes one
Who said Billy could not fire that ball in !! WOW!!
6:48 WTF? Look at the awesome block Mosley delivers on #20 at the end of this play! DaFuq???
Giants played a heads-up game. Great pass rush. Lots of talent everywhere on that team.
Only on defense. The offense had no game-breakers really bereft of any Talent
Nice TD run by Doug Kotar
My favorite Giant as a kid.
RIP Dave Jennings

Great 70's music
Jack Gregory and John mendenhall were underrated
Probably the best the giants played wearing those blue pants
RIP Troy archer
I miss Pat and Tom
Nice pass by pisarcik to ed Marshall
Nice sack Troy Archer RIP 1955-1979
Ray Rhodes was an excellent corner
Harry Carson and George Martin were giants cornerstone's Martin 1975-88 Carson 1976-88
Van Pelt was the best on that defense,, all pro five years in a row in the 70s
that kinda looks like the redskins of today . missing tackles and fumbles ! got a penalty on a TD . but thats crazy because I wasnt even 1 year old during this game
Gary shirk was an excellent tight end
Yes in the WFL and USFL
I miss Brent Musberger saying how much better the Giants are getting in 1977 and Irv Cross smiling and agreeing with him
Jimmy Robinson was an excellent wide receiver
Imagine if the giants had success In the 70's
John mcvay giants coach 1976-78
Same as today. Throw ball down to 10 then try to run
Old man Kilmer had balls to make that run!
Nice tackle by Harry Carson on thiesman
I had forgotten how long Carson played
They should go back to the blue pants for road games
Happy birthday hilarie Thompson ormsby
Troy Archer was a huge talent. Sad to see the young man pass at such an early age.
haha...KILMER LOOKING LIKE IF CLINTON PLAYED QUARTERBACK>
Which was more boring...the Giants name helmet or the Bengals name helmet?
The browns no-name helmet.
Hate to see ol' Charley Taylor go down. heck of a catch by the old man at the end of his great career

This is the game that lost the playoffs for Washington.
the giants had so much better helmets than they do now like the giants logo better than the NY logo
The Redskins we're good at losing this type of game!! Good god!!
riggens and hanburger out
sorry riggins
Riggins was out for most of George Allen's tenure together which likely prolonged his career when it really mattered.
redskins
Billy kilmer played too long he should have retired in the early 70s
Giants had sweet uniforms in the late 70s.
These are the Giants best uniforms they should go back to wearing these
How bad did Theismann suck in the 70s? He played behind Billy Kilmer.
Are u stupid! Allen loved kilmer!! He was not playing theisman.get a clue!!
