What a great tip with turning the brush around for short nails. Thanks so much for sharing.
+Lawona Forslund you're welcome!
I Just got my nails done and had to ask the lady 3 times to go closer to my cuticle. my nails grow really fast and she had a few mm between my cuticle line and the polish. I wasn't happy with that. I love how close you got without touching!
That tip about capping shorter nails! Seriously just saved my life! Thank you!
+Aubrey Bouck glad it can help!
I love this vedeo
Just had an "aha!" moment. I have always wipes my brush almost dry, and it's so frustrating. I can't wait to do my nails tomorrow, now!
+Amber Moss Glad it helped! Let me know how it goes :)
I definitely will!
Great tutorial!
Great tips! Thanks! I have been polishing my nails for years and years, and just got into trying gels. :)
How would we avoid getting nail polish on the sides of the nails. For example when you're doing gel on your own natural nail?
I really need help getting mess off my fingers after using the light.
Hi! Be sure to clean up any gel before you cure. Use a brush dipped in acetone. -L
@@LuxaPolish Thanks for your response...you just helped me too with this tip/advice
Thank you so much
I could watch you paint nails all day, so relaxing 💕
+Hollie Forrest Aww thanks girl! 😘😘
Beautiful nails
Came across your channel great tips thank you for sharing 👍🏾
This is the best tutorial on how to polish I have ever seen!! Thank you so much!
Thank you so much! You're amazing!
I have to say.... you explain that very well like I understood everything🤓 it's pretty amazing you have a gift! and it's going to help me a lot with my Art thank you love 😍😘
Amazing thankyou x
Thank you! I have to have really short nails and making a mess of the top trying to cap it, this makes so much more sense.
Love this technique❤️💅🏾
Really great video, to the point and good info. Thank you so much!
Thanks 😘
So helpful thank you!!!💜🌸💅🏼
Beautiful work keep it up
thank you for this video. im starting to do my nails and my struggle is the cuticle area! im goin to try to do it like this. btw, new sub here :D
That was the best explanation I have seen!
+dreyhawk awww thank you so much!!
I use ugly duckling at my salon but I. Thinking of switching to Luxa. What I love about UD is that it’s slightly thick and packed with pigment. I tried Luxio but it was too runny for me. I’d love to know before ordering how comparable in viscosity it is to either those brands or others? Im pretty sure luxa is 100% gel? I used Gel Bottle Inc but not enough pigment. I’d stay with Ugly Duckling but they don’t have enough colours for me :(
You do great videos and you're so generous to share the techniques. Good Luck in your business!
+dina wiranita Thank you so much!
I always have trouble with the curing. I don’t know why it keep happening but every time I’m curing my nails it doesn’t dry completely. Any tips?
Hey do you use hard gels. If so could you do a tutorial. I just love gel pots
Hi I’m new to nails and im using nail stick things similar to yours but the plastic clear ones with handles (sorry no idea what they are called 😅) so when I put certain gels on like nudes it doesn’t look smooth and nice it looks awful especially when I put a matte top coat on it, it doesn’t happen with the blacks I have, so do I buff or file after I put the gel polish on? Or just leave it and top coat it? What am I doing wrong?
Thank u for this.😋.
The tip about capping a short free edge is GOLD! I do my gels at home and my nail are just petite (think seven year old nails, lol). I have issues growing them bc they get wonky or slope up if they get too long. I think this tip will help tremendously. Thx again!
+DScritchy I'm glad the video helped! :)
Thank you so much for this tutorial, Extremely easy to follow and now I am going to practice practice practice.
I love this. It was so helpful. I do my nails at home and it made it so much easier to clean up.
Great nail videos!! What LED lamp do you recommend ? I'm trying to purchase one but there is so many that it gets overwhelming. Thanks 😃
+Blue R. Hi! I use 2 different ones. Gelish 18G LED lamp...and mainly use CND LED at the salon. Get a lamp based on your needs and budget. I do enjoy the cnd led lamp...clients are very comfortable in it and it's very powerful (but higher in price)
Do you bake in uv light or no need to im new please
I got the cuticle right (except for my right hand, I need practice using my left hand for manis), but I had no idea how to cap the free edge of short nails. Thanks for the video!
very helpful, thanks
Glad it helps! :)
Great done!!! Does this technique work the same way to apply colors that pull away? Because I have issues with that kind of colors. Please help me. Thanks for sharing.
I have a question about chipping shellac from free edge. Even though i cap it it still chip.
+Manisha Karir hi! Make sure when you cleanse your nails before application you get the free edges really well! Sometimes we focus more towards the cuticle area and forget the free edge. Hope this helps some!
what if the cuticle edge is uneven? Like e.g. both of my pointer's cuticle line is nice and rounded on one side but a tad higher and less rounded on the other side. Would you follow that or rather paint an even rounded polish line, which in that case would leave a minimally bigger empty spot on one side?
+Dieamond I have clients that have nails like that....I follow their eponychium. So it'll be uneven but I still try to make it a smooth uneven line if that makes sense. So it'll slop on one side than the other. I just ask my clients what they prefer. Hope that helps :)
+LuxaPolish thanks for replying 😊! Yes I wondered what I should do about it (with regular nail polish), but in any case I still have to improve at getting the cuticle edge right 😁😁
I'm 13 and love acrylic nails I want them done I always get them done and sometimes do my own but Ayee it was a holiday today SO therefore I couldn't get them did today I'll have to try again another day this week before I go to school and before I get my hair done
Just staring to do my own nails with Joel polish and the tips you provided have been awesome! I have struggled with getting too close to the cuticle as well as having short nails which I didn’t know how to finish the yup so it would last so your video perfectly covered those issues. I can’t wait to do my nails next time and test out your tips!
That makes so much sense about not capping short nails. I can’t wait to try again. #aspiringnailtech
How do you clean up with gel polish if you happen to go outside the nail? Helpful video thanks!
I cap, but still have chipping within a day or two..I have quality products and cure per directions...UGH
This is an amazing vid. thank you very much for the tips. i am going to try it now! lol
very helpful. you're a good teacher too. thank you!
+okolo007 thank you! :)
+okolo007 you're so welcome! Glad I can help :)
I have very thick pot color gels, I don't know what to do. I just can't be precise with that, my application is horrible, and I have a lot of colours it's such a waste of money 😟
You still can use this technique with gel pots! The part you need a little more of a lighter touch is when smothing it out from the cuticle to free edge. -L
I should have watched this before I did my nails...lol
I was thinking the same thing 😅 I can't wait till next time haha!
Thank you just found your channel this video very helpful just started doing my own gel nails at home. ❤

+Mz Squeaky71 awww! Thank you so much! Maybe some day ;)
Thank you Luxapolish, great video. Your gel polish consistency seem more like regular polish, I am using DND and it is thicker and a bit harder to manage. Have you ever used DND gel polish?
Thanks for this technique 💅🏼💞✨
Soo glad i came across this channel! This was so helpful and the best tutorial av come across, thankyou!
Ty great tutorial
Awesome tutorial, wish me luck as I attempt polishing with gel for the 3rd time 🤞🏾🤞🏾
Is this the same technique to use for a competition permanent polish? Do you have any other advice for a competition nail? 🙏
Excellent! Thank you so much! This is exactly what I needed to know. :D
Great video, I'm watching videos to refresh my technique and skills for gel manicures, this was very helpful, as I have short nails at the moment, so the capping free edge for shorter nails was a great tip, iv not dine nails for several years as iv been unwell, so I'm getting back in to it now and studying hard on you tube for nail art and gel polish manicures, and tips with gel, I'm not an acrylic person , although I can do a set, I just don't like it, I'm more gel and sculpts ! Great video will being using a few tips in my application process on friends while impractical and get my speed up again xx
Wow thank you
Great tutorial. I am a beginner and needed this guidance because the gel on my nails tends to not be smooth. Thank you for teaching.
Great tutorial, thank you!
Can I use a normal base coat and put gel polish over the normal base coat. And do I have to use a base coat. Can I just use the color polish?
Beautiful job but the parts where cam not focusing gave me a headache
Excellent video thank you to the point and so clear. 👍❤️🌸
What do you do if your gel polish gets thick? And shrinking? X
Thanks for this. Never knew about these tips.
This is the best step by step video on polishing nails!!!!
This helped so much!!! - thank you! I love your videos!!! Thank you so much!
Why didn't you start with a base coat?
ivette uribe I know glaze is a two in one with base coat already
Thanks for sharing this!!
Of course!! - R
This helps a lot. Thanks. Will use your instructions.
Found this so helpful! Thank you x
Thank you! You should be a nail educator
+Renee L aww thank you so much!
I’m new to using gel varnish and even though I prep my nails and do everything they still peel of I use prep lotion base coat and top coat but still I can just peel them off. What would u suggest I should do. Please help
Kimbles kimbella Holmes I’ve noticed that different brands are more prone to peeling than others.
I have an issue sometimes with the polish between layer 2 and 3 where it wrinkles on the side...I try to cure it but it doesn't smooth out. It will peel off if I don't start over. How can I avoid that?
Aja leigh you are applying the coats too thick. Try going a bit thinner and see if that helps.
THE BEST VIDEO EVER!! Thank you x
I learn something in each video
+oyuky gomez aww that's so great! Thanks for watching!
The best explanation I have seen. you are great
I use bonder under shellac. Is that ok
Amazing video! Thank you for the tip on how to cap the free edge on short nails. I've recently started doing gel manicures at home but when I get polish on my cuticle and try to clean it up with acetone I notice the gel polish shrinks a bit, is that because I'm using acetone? What can I use to clean up those little mistakes when the gel polish gets on the skin?
+Christy B alcohol or acetone would work....but don't over saturate your brush as the acetone will leak into the gel. But really try to get a good application the first time. Even me being a professional I can goof up and flood the cuticle at times ;)
you did really good I could watch you do it all day
Thank u so much
@Vissteopiz Hope it helped!🖤💀 -M
So so helpful thank you!
awesome!! super pretty color you can tell you enjoy this unlike girls in my area that do nails they're so lazy
+Care Bear Hi! Thank you so much! Even after 15 years I still love it!
Very helpful! Thank you👍🏻😍
Soooo helpfull thank you!!!!
. somecolor doesnt go on free edge. It doesnt cover free edge even though i cap it. I can see white Line on free edge. Is that ok
+Manisha Karir some people prefer not to cover the free edge. For natural nails, I feel it looks best. If your gel doesn't stay on the free edge, make sure your base gel covers the free edge so the gel polish will stick. Hope that helps.
Hi! I'm new to your channel and new to gel nails. I have a question about the chrome powder. Can the powder you used be used with a different brand of gel polish or is it specific to the brand you used? I probably should have put this question on that video but it's late at night and I just thought of it🙈 Thank you!! 💅💜
+Sharon Hoelzle Hi Sharon. The chrome pigment can be used with any gel polish line. You do need a no wipe top coat to achieve the best mirror chrome finish :) Hope that helps :)
+LuxaPolish Thank you so much!! That definitely helps!
Great explanation now I don't have to be scared when people come to me for Polish.
+sasha johnson glad the video was helpful!
Thanks for the tutorial
Your videos are very informative and I enjoy them a lot, thank you for sharing your gift.Much success to you .
+Ecila007 thank you so much for your kind words!
Its not under cutible
Very helpful thanks(:
I love this technique...can I have short natural nails.. Can I use this technique when I paint my own nails?
Yes you can use this technique on yourself and with any length nail. If using regular nail polish you have to work faster as it dries with air unlike gel polish. :)
Ok,thank you 😊
