I'm 47 and only started collecting this year! They definitely help with my anxiety. We couldn't afford them when they first came out here in South Africa.
I'm 26 and spotted some Sylvanians in a toy shop before Christmas. This made me reflect on how much I wanted them as a kid but never had them. I made my first purchase of a Sylvanian family set the other day and I'm so excited to start collecting. This feels like such a nice way to treat my inner child (we have been doing some work lately) and also because I love miniature things.
I had never heard of the brand seven years ago, and bought one out of curiosity, wondering how such static little fuzzy toys could portray such character. This led to me setting up an eBay account to buy some of the families no longer available new. I was a guy in his late 50s. Now, I have over 1000 of them - so yes, they are addictive! They definitely put me in a mellow happy mood - I find myself smiling like an idiot when I look at them - and am convinced they contribute to good mental health. I write stories about my imagined Sylvanian village, so the creative writing (and photo illustration) keeps my mind active. As I write this post, I am awaiting some Bullrush frogs and Norwood mice to be delivered. Not mint condition (one frog is severely worn) but they have character and are already suggesting their family backgrounds for a future story.
Ahahahaha, I relate to that. I feel so happy and silly looking at their cute faces It's so embarrassing because I'm an adult by now, but as a child I always wanted a full Sylvanian animal family
I'm 68 and started collecting this year for my Granddaughter and l. I find them to be very relaxing to set up.There is something very soothing in touching these Sweet little creatures and setting up their rooms.I just bought the ceiling lights for the rooms. It's fun to decorate the houses for the Holidays too. Thanks for sharing your Video. You are so right about it being so much more fun and relaxing than video games.💗I just bought the Sweet Rasberry House to add to the same cottage you have. I love the porch and all the details. Can't wait to see how your Collection Grows but don't forget to save some money for College too!💗
Don't feel bad. I'm twice your age and got one. I never did plan on growing up. :) I found mine brand new at a flea market where someone had a lot of toys still in boxes. I just got the larger version, and you can stack this one on top of it. So, now I'll be seriously decorating and upgrading furniture.

Omg! This reminds me of when I got my first Calico Critter house 😭 The addiction to buying Calico Critters once you start is real though, browsing through e-bay on my spare time. I'm just trying to heal my inner child at 22 lmao😆
It's crazy. I mean, I didn't realize they were that much of a THING! I got mine for basically the same reason, a happy distraction, and as the I-just-can't-help-myself kicked into full gear, I justified my purchases with, "When's the last time I went somewhere on vacation???" 😂
Love this video, so fun to watch!! So happy you're getting into Sylvanians, but be careful, there's A LOT to buy LOL! But Japan is the perfect country to be in to get Sylvanians at a good price and with a good selection to choose from! ❤️I recently ordered the elephant girl BBQ set from Japan, I'm always so jealous of people who can get them cheaper in-country. 🤩

Such an addictive hobby; that I willingly fell into a few years back. I remember older family members who had them when I was a child and have always wanted some of my own; 31 now and finally getting a good collection going! If it makes you happy and helps your mental health then I don't see any problem with it.... But maybe set up a fund on the side specifically for them! Lol.
I am a dude, but no one comes to my house anyway so if one day I get a huge Sylvanian Families collection there will be no one to judge me (other than my dad)

Yeah my youngest daughter ( who is also named Jayla) that's 17 years old would love being around you. She loved toys that she can fit in her hands lol
