I was so relieved for you William when at the end of the video you reported having the 'all clear.' I'm a great believer in the love of family & friends. Your sister delivered big time. ❤ That said, it was the steamboat which first drew me to the video. That's a champion job you've done on Borkum, and your son, a chip off the old block but with his own unique skillset. The boat is certainly a draw for interested onlookers & no doubt an opening gambit for conversation with many lovely folks. Have a lovely day.
Thank you for your interest! To bring you up-to-date: we moved to Hawaii! I thought that would help encourage me to be active for rebuilding my strength. I am looking forward to running the Borkum in the Wailua River, near where we live on Kauai. I still have the new engine in a box. If I get around to building another boat I will post a sequel. It is hard to get the small fuel canisters here but I just bought a valve that allows you to refill used canisters from larger ones (that I can get here).
Yes, steam boats are a lot of fun. I’m surprised that they aren’t more popular. Your mom and I are lucky that cancer research had found cures. Ten years ago I would not have survived.

@@HistoricSteamTV I'm so sorry about your mom. I was lucky: mine was caught through an elevated white blood cell count during a routine physical. I had just been assigned a new primary care physician through my Kaiser health care. She was new and young and on top of her game! She had me go for another blood draw, where they checked for leukemia and correctly diagnosed the rare form I had (t-cell prolymphocitic leukemia). The only chance for a cure was a stem cell transplant. My sister insisted that she be tested and was a match (25% chance). The prognosis for people my age (76) is poor, so I was very lucky that they agreed to treat me. Send links to pictures of your steamboat(s). It is fun to find people that share my interest.

Remove the captains arm, and hide that it isn't attached under the sleeve of his shirt. Then you could pin the hand to the wheel so it can freely spin with his hand attached.
I only enjoy model boats when miniature figures are properly chosen and placed. You did great.
If everyone were interested in theese kind of hobbies the world would be a much friendlier place. Tank you for sharing
Bo, thank you for your kind comment. I am surprised that there aren’t more people that share my interests.

A fantastic story William👍🏻
All the best,
Paul.
Many thanks!
Thank you for your good suggestion. I hope I get a chance to do that. But my cancer has just returned, so I don’t know how much time I have.
