- The Star Reporter in Hollywood was a series of short subjects produced by Paramount Pictures in the 1930s. Its purpose was to introduce new talent, and it was hosted by Ted Husing (our "star reporter"). First up is the Sons of the Pioneers, who sing "Way Out There." Next we're shown the Boswell Sisters (not new talent, but old favorites). They perform "Heebie Jeebies" by way of the film The Big Broadcast of several years previously. Then we're told about Yasha Bunchuk and his Cossack Choir and hear them perform "Massachusetts." Last but not least, Louis Prima and his band play "Chinatown, My Chinatown."
More rare, fascinating material. To quote a song, "Thanks a Million!"
Great! Prima singing Chinatown!
The Boswell Sisters are the greatest!
So raaaaare... Love this old good stuff, thanks!
Roy Rogers one of the singers?
Yes, this was right before he went on his own to become the silver screen star we all know.
Believe the group also appeared in "Rhythm On The Range" with Bing a year earlier.
