- On October 21 1966, a coal slip buried a primary school and houses in Aberfan killing 116 children and 28 adults. Here is how the catastrophe that almost wiped out an entire generation in the Welsh village unfolded. Report by Lydia Batham.
Intensely irritating commentator.
Some people don't understand that their voice may not be suited for certain things. I find that this is often common in women. This lady's voice is exceptionally irritating for sure.
I had never heard of the Aberfan disaster until I saw The Crown episode 3 in season 3 in the Netflix series. It will undoubtedly have made a big impression in the Netherlands at the time. I was ten years old in October 1966 and the disaster still makes a big impression on me after so many years.
Yep. Here after The Crown
Why is the narrator always starting a sentence on such a high note. Awful narrating on such a terrible tragedy. So very sad, bless those children and the families now past and present.
I had several cousins killed in the disaster and one who was saved because she was sick that day and stayed home. My Dad and uncles went down and helped with the rescue effort. So sad.
That's so tragic. How does a family ever get over something like that. Dreadful
God Bless my Welsh people always...we love you..God bless you all in Welsh in Jesus name glory to God
If only it had been an hour earlier the children would not have been at school. God bless them
This is horrendous....
God bless all affected.
Why is the commentator so happy?
the crown brought me here, those poor kids man
Got to turn off. Ridiculous voiceover.
it was there 1 st lesson not the last
The crown me llevo hasta aquí
The crown took me here says the same above but in Spanish
I'm Welsh and today in school we held a minute silence for those who didn't survive and to the families who suffered the trauma😞
Menna Burmingham same
Menna Burmingham that happened in my school
The memory of that terrible time is still clear in my mind.
the narrator is using a tone that is entirely inappropriate.
I searched for the Aberfan tragedy after watching the Crown series. It made me absolutely sad and having children of my own , made me cry coz I cannot even imagine the horrible sadness brought upon the parents and the community at that time .....just cannot even imagine how terrible it must have been for them! God bless those souls ameen!
I'm not Welsh. Greetings to Wales.
I couldn't imagine narrating something like this and making it sound like the most emotionless fairytale in the world. I don't know why she tried to narrate it like a newscaster when clearly needs a lot of work on dialogue, tone and pitch. Had to mute it after a few minutes, just felt disrespectful to speak in an excited and egocentric manner about something so horrific.
when I was in school on the 21st October 2016 we held a minute silence. btw that day was the last day till half-term
55 years ago
It weren't last lesson
