Rex Ryan would definitely have a identity for this defense and hopefully offense but you would not have no problem with sauce Gardener anymore he will fix that and players will run through walls for Rex Ryan, and I'm not saying to look at the other candidates you should do your due diligence but he's definitely top three in my list of coaches to get
I say interview all candidates for the Jets HC job, but the Jets can't afford to hire another statue of a coach on the sideline, now living in the Detroit area all of my life, and have watched the Lion for years just like the Jets do nothing for decades until the Lions hired a competent HC in Jim Caldwell and the lions were a playoff team under Caldwell his last year the Lions were 9-7, and they fired him, only because they knew that Matt Patricia was available and he ruin the Lions, until Dan Campbell brought the Rex Ryan passion and energy to the Lions and the rest is history, just my take on it Tyson, and as usual go Jets from Detroit.
I disagree with your take that this is a complete rebuild… Other than QB, this team will still have a ton of talent on it next year. This isn’t like the McCagnan years…I see Rex as a Dan Campbell-type, just needs to hire the right offensive staff
how many needs do you have on offense? Davante coming back? need two offensive linemen .. a tight end end.. trust Tyrod? on defense.. need tackles, safeties, CJ returning? Reed returning?
And for some reason, somehow, here we are talking about a 3-8 team in a positive way and no one is suspicious. Let's not get too jacked on all the "positive sauce". Now that we hear the name Rex Ryan being wheeled out there...might want to think twice about not renewing Jets season tickets.
Is this really a complete rebuild, tho? Even if DJ Reed leaves (and I think he will) you still have quality building blocks at a number of important positions on both sides of the ball. Or course they'll need a rookie QB to replace the Green Bay Hall of Famer, just as they did in '09, but I see more similarities than differences in the '09 and '25 situations. The oline was complete back then but you could also say the skill positions are better now.
@LetsTalkJetsRadio I'm sure there are plenty of rebuilds that would like to start with two fantastic young edge rushers, a quality CB1 (we're assuming the coaching would help here), a fantastic WR1, two qualify running backs, and a stud off-ball LB. And it's not as tho there isn't highly drafted talent to work with on the oline either. Not a complete restart there.
Here is two thoughts in my mind. Is Rex a coach right now? I don’t know.. I might be interested in Rex Ryan as a VP of Football Operations. On one condition. This is the pitch Rex can make to me and sell me. If Rex says I’m a head coach, but I am bringing in Aaron Glenn to this team as DC. When I step aside we are grooming Aaron Glenn as a long term coach to take over for the next ten years after I’m gone. That type of concerted effort by Rex combined with another top candidate MIGHT actually work. Just floating it out there for all to see and agree/disagree. Also Rex isn’t my #1, but I would be lying to say I wouldn’t be sentimental about his return. My big rule here is that I don’t want Gruden. Why spend 10 million for a guy whose offense can’t get outside receivers the rock? He is a TE master, but we don’t got that on this team anyway. No Brock Bowers, no Gruden. My takes are red hot. Take it baby 🔥
It’s pure speculation in the face of uncertainty; things have never felt more bleak, it’s not worth a moment of our time or an ounce of our energy to play this game anymore.
As much as I love rex he isn't the answer I remember the bad drafts, bad time management and eventual melt down. Not sure what the answer is anymore too be honest 😂 whatever direction we go in we are probably doomed 😂
For once, could we find someone who is or was a offensive coordinator? Rex's early success was with the team Mangini put together, the longer he stayed, worse they got.
I don't think so tbh. Mangini was only coach for 3 years and only made the playoffs the first year with the team that Herm Edwards put together! I remember Rex bringing in a lot of players from Baltimore right off the bat. So that's really not true. Mangini really didn't really put together a team for Rex. Remember Rex brought in Bart Scott, Calvin Pace, Jim Leonart, Antonio Cromartie, Santonio Holmes, Braylen Edwards, Marc Sanchez, Ladainiam Tomlinson, Jason Taylor, and Damien Woody within the first year. Some of the best jets were around before Mangini too like Shawn Ellis and Jericho Cotchery, Brandon Moore, Byron Thomas. You can give credit to Mangini for DBrickashaw ,Nick Mangold, Leon Washington, and Brad Smith as they were drafted right as he became the coach so maybe he helped them develop but Rex got rid of Leon. I guess you can give Mangini credit for Revis and Dustin Keller but they only played a year or two with Mangini during loosing seasons. Basically the majority of the team was either there already before Mangini or were added by Rex after Rex took over. Rex changed a lot of players right of the bat. I can really only think of 5 players that were good from Mangini and I don't even think he deserves any credit for them. You got Revis, DBrickashaw Ferguson, Nick Mangold, Dustin Keller, and Brad Smith.
@AllShaaaallPerish Yeah rex brought all the defensive players in but i'm talking about the offensive players he brought in ... plus mangini went 10-6 and 9-7 and at one point 8-3 when brett favre was healthy ... he had 2 winning seasons of his 3 season here You really can't dispute that
@kapo2012fb Ladainiam Tomlinson, Shonn Greene, Santonio Holmes, Braylen Edwards, Sanchez those are are huge offensive players brought in Rex first year. Mangini had Brett Farve lol I can't think of any good Offensive ppl he brought in tbh except the two O line franchise players. Mangini was a defensive coach as well. I forgot I guess he missed playoffs with a winning season so you are correct there!
I liked rex, he was fun, and i know he loves the team, it is kind of like belicik with the giants. But he also was like saleh in that he focused on the defense, left that to whoever, and we cant have that again. Ppl forget he also had accountability issues, players played hard for him but the jets were known for stupid mistakes, they were heavily penalized. I remember rex on the sideline being not all that much different than saleh, player would get a dumb penalty and rex wouldnt do anything. He has acknowledged those kinds of things and could be different. That said as tyson said the big issue is the gm. You cant just hire rex as coach then hire a gm, it wont work, idzik spent two years trying to get rex fired ( can you imagine who idzik would hire? He prob would have hired gase before miami did). If rumors are true and woody goes with an internal hire like savage i dont think it would work, but any gm would ne a problem. We need to hire a gm and then cast a net for a hc; consider tex but dont annoint him
Talk about going in one giant circle. At this rate, why don't they try to resurrect Weeb Ewbank since he was the only coach to actually win something for this team.
If this organization does not build the correct power structure with a director of ops and then hire a GM then let those football minds make the decision on a HC I just hope they go the expirenced HC route no first time coordinators wannabe HC Rex is a good story he loves this organization but I dont think he is at the top of the list but I would take Rex over any first time HC With clueless woody in charge of all this anything is possible
im a browns fan i think the jets should hire mike vrabel hes a proven head coach been to the playoffs won afc south championships brings accountability and is the ceo head coach the jets need
The Rex situation reminds me of the old Yankees manager…….Billy Martin….do the Jets make Rex a company man like Billy Martin and keep hire & firing him
What coach is willing and wants to come here?you guys talked bout what coach wants to be here..rex clearly wants to coach the team..so why not bring him in ..what else we have to lose?
Tyron smith, Morgan Moses, Tyron for a solid back up, Mike Williams people liked. Revamped O line and every one thought a solid 2 in Mike Williams. Do you research or just say the 1st thing that comes to your mind? When you have a shit coach, it doesn’t matter who’s on the team and the jets were given every superstar to help the team.
@ I’ll admit the misses in Zach etc, the D-line took a step back in depth. But there was more positives than negatives personal wise. Not to mention we got adams now. I’m just confused on the shit you spew everyday
Rex is another " players coach ", which is not what we need. He can excuse away poor effort with the best of them. Whan he was leaving the last time, I was beyond relieved. Love Rex but not as Jets new coach
@@LetsTalkJetsRadioI really enjoy the show with “ Primetime” during games, it makes them more entertaining. Now here’s why I say Flores; 1) unjustly fired by Miami and gets to stick it to them twice a year 2) has been around good coaches, including Mike Tomlin, completely turned around a terrible Vikings D 3) is a hardass, which this team needs 4) is a local guy, Brooklyn I believe, and would understand the Jet fan mentality and the media, a huge part of coaching here Sadly, I think the NFL owners will black ball him due to his lawsuit, and I doubt Woody would buck the other owners What they WILL do? Hire a first time GM and HC and in 4 years we will be talking about this again. It’s the endless cycle of hamster turds..😢

I'm OK with Rex Ryan being coach of the Jets in 2025 on the conditions that: A) Aaron Rodgers is not on the Jets in 2025 B) The Jets go back to the Ground & Pound Offense Rex Ryan & Aaron Rodgers together would be as toxic as Andre Rison & Left Eye Lopez......
Andre Rison and Lisa Lopes😂😂😂 it can go either way but Rex Ryan does not hold his tongue especially if you're not doing the right thing he's not a kiss up
Hate to be the bearer of bad news, but I agree with John B (Locked on Jets). He pointed out that getting a big name for a football czar type of position doesn’t work either. He pointed out three examples: Parcells with Miami, Mike Holmgren with Cleveland, and even the Jets with Casserly.
@DannyMiller-e7l what happened in 2011 ? 2012 ? 2013 ? 2014 ? .. We all know They went to the championship game two years in a row with mangini's players

Again....yet again....the NYJ is in the news for all the wrong reasons. Oh well... The milk is out of the udder...and Woody is still the owner. Nothing has changed. ......perfect.
I'll add to the list of GMs whose second time around didn't work out so well: Charley Casserly. Had tremendous success in Washington, then became the first Texans GM - and couldn't build an offensive line to save David Carr's life.
@@LetsTalkJetsRadio No, of course not. But don't assume that success somewhere else will translate into success with the Jets. Even if the franchise were functional, there's an awful lot of luck involved in building and maintaining a winning team.

Rex Ryan would definitely have a identity for this defense and hopefully offense but you would not have no problem with sauce Gardener anymore he will fix that and players will run through walls for Rex Ryan, and I'm not saying to look at the other candidates you should do your due diligence but he's definitely top three in my list of coaches to get
Yes bring Rex back
no thanks
Campbell seems to be more well rounded and also has Ben Johnson and Goff
A level-headed voice of reason on this whole Rex push
I agree with your to the point, concise analysis here!
Always!!!
Yeah true, it would be a good way getting back league though.
These reunions haven't worked but you never know you could only hope it does and take a chance
why not explore other options?
Now that we hear the name Rex Ryan being wheeled out there...might want to think twice about not renewing Jets season tickets.
who is positive? this team is a mess
The oline was complete back then but you could also say the skill positions are better now.
how many true building blocks are there?
@LetsTalkJetsRadio I'm sure there are plenty of rebuilds that would like to start with two fantastic young edge rushers, a quality CB1 (we're assuming the coaching would help here), a fantastic WR1, two qualify running backs, and a stud off-ball LB. And it's not as tho there isn't highly drafted talent to work with on the oline either. Not a complete restart there.
We need a offensive coach no more defensive guys.
we need a legit head coach
It’s typical Jet story with Rex..But he does win with talent. Once talent is gone he’s a shell of himself and his teams.
won with talent and then...
These only have to the jet 😂😂😂. They have to give rex the number 1 jet fan titles
We need someone who actually WANTS to work with the team
we need an actual good established head coach
Whoever is the next head coach need to do the opposite of what all these other coaches have been doing and then we'll be okay!!
hahaha
@LetsTalkJetsRadio You think we'll get it right this time?
Dolphins had bill parcels as football operations for two years and yes it made a big difference. Wouldn't be a bad idea for the jets.
they need one desperately
I wouldn’t mind Rex coming back but he’s gonna need a lot of help to rebuild. I don’t think he can do it himself. Only time will tell.
I would rather explore other options
What’s stopping Woody from overstepping everyone? The man can’t clearly help himself. This goes back to Tebow even Farve!
One home playoff game since Woody bought the team. Nearly 23 years ago. Jets need new ownership first.
a huge issue
The problem with Saleh was he never held anyone accountable. It’s like he was best friends with all his players.
it is a team issue now
It’s pure speculation in the face of uncertainty; things have never felt more bleak, it’s not worth a moment of our time or an ounce of our energy to play this game anymore.
Let’s hope Aaron doesn’t disagree.
he can leave
We ended up in this garbage situation lol what a complete waste of time…
sure was
My thing is does rex knows how today's nfl works not everyone is andy Reid plus we need to get with the times with a offensive minded coach
That’s Ambassador Johnson
hahahaha
As much as I love rex he isn't the answer I remember the bad drafts, bad time management and eventual melt down. Not sure what the answer is anymore too be honest 😂 whatever direction we go in we are probably doomed 😂
For once, could we find someone who is or was a offensive coordinator? Rex's early success was with the team Mangini put together, the longer he stayed, worse they got.
Exactly
I want an established legit head coach
At this rate, why don't they try to resurrect Weeb Ewbank since he was the only coach to actually win something for this team.
exactly
No thanksgiving and Christmas 🎅
If this organization does not build the correct power structure with a director of ops and then hire a GM then let those football minds make the decision on a HC
I just hope they go the expirenced HC route
no first time coordinators wannabe HC
Rex is a good story he loves this organization but I dont think he is at the top of the list but I would take Rex over any first time HC
With clueless woody in charge of all this anything is possible
im a browns fan i think the jets should hire mike vrabel hes a proven head coach been to the playoffs won afc south championships brings accountability and is the ceo head coach the jets need
I would do that in a heartbeat not sure he wants the job
@@LetsTalkJetsRadio brian flores ive always liked his defense is legit look at the vikings thats a super bowl caliber defense!.
The Rex situation reminds me of the old Yankees manager…….Billy Martin….do the Jets make Rex a company man like Billy Martin and keep hire & firing him
great point
What coach is willing and wants to come here?you guys talked bout what coach wants to be here..rex clearly wants to coach the team..so why not bring him in ..what else we have to lose?
Some of the top candidates may not want to be here, but there’s many many others that would kill for this job.. there’s only 32 of them in the world
why settle already? at least try to get better
SuperBowlus Rex…!
yeah right
@ We have nowhere to go but up, my friend…
Ty, i not 100 on board with Sexy Rex....BUT he loves the Jets and us.....im open IF theres a Very Good OC with him
I don't care about his love what is his plan on offense? who is his quarterback?
I agree with you Tyson. I love Rex and his passion for the team but I would have to pass on him being the HC.
his time has come and gone
lol
Joe Douglass drafted most of the talent on this team…. Yes he picked Beckton but at the time everyone thought it was a good pick.
how many misses? how was free agency?
Love Rex but not as Jets new coach
the end was ugly here and in Buffalo as well
Brian Flores one, Rex two
Flores is interesting
@@LetsTalkJetsRadioI really enjoy the show with “ Primetime” during games, it makes them more entertaining. Now here’s why I say Flores;
1) unjustly fired by Miami and gets to stick it to them twice a year
2) has been around good coaches, including Mike Tomlin, completely turned around a terrible Vikings D
3) is a hardass, which this team needs
4) is a local guy, Brooklyn I believe, and would understand the Jet fan mentality and the media, a huge part of coaching here
Sadly, I think the NFL owners will black ball him due to his lawsuit, and I doubt Woody would buck the other owners
What they WILL do? Hire a first time GM and HC and in 4 years we will be talking about this again. It’s the endless cycle of hamster turds..😢
I'm all set with Rex he was awful the last 3 years
Lol really Rex Ryan?? Why not could not be worse. This team has been broken for decades. The Jets fans are the most loyal fans in the NFL. Year after year fans buy the merchandise buy tickets go to games. We deserve better then this
What do you think or how do you feel about Louis reddick as a general manager or director of personal??
bold move, I would be interested
Haven't seen your video, but I'd just take him back if he commits for at least 3 to 5 years. Otherwise you'd get a new culture as soon as Rex leaves.
If he wants to do that to himself for longer, just sign him!
not watching video? thanks lol
@LetsTalkJetsRadio sorry, forgot the word "yet".
I'm at a bar watching Bundesliga right now. I'll watch it later, but had to answer to the headline 😅
now I watched it at halftime and I say the same thing. If Rex signs for at least 3 years I'll take him in a heartbeat. If not, you should take him of the list!
Word now is Woody's son Brick has been playing GM and making decisions based on social media clips.
We're cooked, Tyson. Franchise is a wrap.
can't believe everything you read but yes they are in very bad shape
I'm OK with Rex Ryan being coach of the Jets in 2025 on the conditions that:
A) Aaron Rodgers is not on the Jets in 2025
B) The Jets go back to the Ground & Pound Offense
Rex Ryan & Aaron Rodgers together would be as toxic as Andre Rison & Left Eye Lopez......
Andre Rison and Lisa Lopes😂😂😂 it can go either way but Rex Ryan does not hold his tongue especially if you're not doing the right thing he's not a kiss up
rather have higher goals and standards
People in the comments have lost their mind. Rex hasn’t coached in a decade. A DECADE! He hasn’t even held an OC or DC position !
exactly
Hate to be the bearer of bad news, but I agree with John B (Locked on Jets). He pointed out that getting a big name for a football czar type of position doesn’t work either. He pointed out three examples: Parcells with Miami, Mike Holmgren with Cleveland, and even the Jets with Casserly.
how many scenarios have worked? no one said czar either.. a football guy making football decisions not a clueless owner and an accountant
🙄
I don't want it to happen! Been there, done that! Please no!
agreed
Jets will do Jets things like this forever, always knee jerk reactions that fail.
hoping they pass on this one
Starting to look like da bears,,
We are supposed to move forward. Not backwards.
agreed
No way been there done that.. People forget the mess and the clown show that was Rex.The last two years he was here..
Rex Ryan had mark Sanchez a game away from the super bowl not once but twice ! with a horrible roster. Most underrated coach in sports history
agreed
@DannyMiller-e7l what happened in 2011 ? 2012 ? 2013 ? 2014 ? ..
We all know They went to the championship game two years in a row with mangini's players
@@kapo2012fb mangini has zero playoff wins with those players what are you taking about
@@kapo2012fb what did mangini players do before Rex? Absolutely nothing thanx for proving it was all Rex
Tyson...
All this nonsense is really centered around Rodgers.
We are living the worse case scenario that I envisioned if Woody brought Rodgers here.
Again....yet again....the NYJ is in the news for all the wrong reasons.
Oh well...
The milk is out of the udder...and Woody is still the owner.
Nothing has changed.
......perfect.
it is a mess for sure
No Thanks… Do not want Rex
me either
I'll add to the list of GMs whose second time around didn't work out so well: Charley Casserly. Had tremendous success in Washington, then became the first Texans GM - and couldn't build an offensive line to save David Carr's life.
so just give up?
@@LetsTalkJetsRadio No, of course not. But don't assume that success somewhere else will translate into success with the Jets. Even if the franchise were functional, there's an awful lot of luck involved in building and maintaining a winning team.
Absolutely no on Rex Ryan. We gotta stop being desperate.
agreed
Woody draft Sheduer Sanders 2025
not happening
Make Rex a coordinator
works for me but he won't take that
Rex still won't have a dependable QB.
and would have to groom one
No....
agreed
Jets are a complete joke of a franchise
agreed
Rex can coach, and Mangini can sure find great players. Why not pair them up.
Mangini didn’t find any good players what are you talking about
@@DannyMiller-e7l actually he did
that would be funny
@@donaldschaefer296 what did those players do with mangini ? Nothing
@@DannyMiller-e7l You may want to research his draft history when he was a jets coach. Close to 7 pro bowlers in that short time.
Rex is a has-been without the been... The same way it ended with Rex, it'll happen again and I don't know why people don't understand that
Make me the GM of the jets
go for it
1000% agree about the bullshit fans pull about knowing a GM. Nobody knows who they are. And yeah, I might take Rex as president of football ops, but not HC. He failed hard the last few years of his career
especially with a rebuild
Send in the Clowns. Jets will be acting like the ugly girl on prom night if they hire Rex Ryan or Gruden. I will forever be done with this franchise if either guy gets the job. I'm too damn old and too damn tired.
Cya
Gruden much more established than Rex, no?
He hasn't won anything since 2002. 2nd stint with the Raiders had full control and was a disaster with personnel.
Before you hire him find out if he's still got that obsession with feet.
that answer is already known
I only want Rex Ryan if Rodgers wants to play another year if he retires and we are starting fresh with a new qb thanks Rex but no
I could see that too
We’ve got very little to lose in giving Rex a 2 year try. Ideally with a GM that is smart (duh) and is compatible with Rex. If not I’m fine. Either way we’ve got nothing to lose in my eyes. We’re already incompetent, dysfunctional and boring. We might as well have some fun and no I don’t believe in curses, jinx etc.
rather do the pain of a true rebuild not another 2 year band aid
Rex is a hype type of guy but he only won on the back of Mangini's roster. He wasn't ever successful when the roster got changed by Tannebaum and we saw his failures in Buffalo. I think Rex is way overrated at this juncture and bringing him back would be a joke shortly after.
I can't see him leading a rebuild
Hiring Rex is almost as idiotic as trading for Rodgers was
may be worse
@@LetsTalkJetsRadio no way haha trading for Rodgers was one of the worst team-building moves in recent memory. an obvious disaster waiting to happen!
I’ll take him back as DC that’s it
same here
