  • On June 14, 2021, GE Aviation and Safran launched a bold technology development program targeting more than 20 percent lower fuel consumption and emissions compared to today’s engines by 2035.
The CFM RISE (Revolutionary Innovation for Sustainable Engines) program will demonstrate and mature a range of new, disruptive technologies for future engines to help the aviation industry meet its ambitious global commitment to decarbonization. The companies also signed an agreement extending the CFM International 50/50 partnership to the year 2050, declaring their intent to lead the way for more sustainable aviation in line with the aviation industry’s commitment to halve CO2 emissions by 2050.

Imagine spending the big bucks to make this video, and not one word about the stationary second row of blades.

Previous prototypes of unducted turbofans have had a contra-rotating second stage. How was it decided to make the second stage stationary for RISE?

Cause they’re so noisy it limits their access to airports and schedules. What I wanna know is why they haven’t tried tried contra rotating with nacelles. The nacelles could be extremely lightweight and aerodynamic cause they’ve only gonna catch the spiralling shockwaves and don’t have to contain an ejection like a turbofan.

Should have made and deployed it a long way back. Way too late and behind in innovation timeline !

CFM Rise could be the perfect engine to re-power the Tu-95 bomber... Putin will be very happy with this
