I remember buying "4 of a kind" in 88 on cassette, to see them sooooo many years later sounding awesome is awesome. These guys should be on such a larger stage, they were a integral part of the 80s metal scene and really had their own identity. So many bands crossed the punk/thrash line but as a thrash head they really were one of the best.
OH, I had a band once and I know this feeling , so I care ! I mean, you are fan of a band/musicians and one day, they are standing there, just a few meters away, and not on stage before you , but in the same backstage area with you. Almost a surreal experience !🙂
been a fan since i got my hands on the 22 songs LP & dealing with it. changed my life & made me a thrash fan. thanks guy's haha. great set, thanks so much for the share 👍
I saw DRI twice in the 80's. Once at a National Park in 1986 (weird, I know) and once in a cornfield (even weirder). Both times in South Carolina. Dealing With It was constantly blasting in my car in 1985.
Crazy how D.R.I put out their first....Fast HC punk, in which still remains a gem..Fast forward to, "Dealing with it"..Same punk vibes, with a splash of metal..Then, the crossover scene was warping in, or pretty much already warped...Crossover scene was in..Explosive in the 90's..Glad D.R.I still doing it!! 👊
@@pauliescott I have friends who are of the same mind...lol. I really dig these guys and we didn't start hearing about em till about 87 88.... I miss those days. I did end up seeing these guys EVERYTIME they came to Detroit.... I do prefer the lineup with Felix...
As a teenager in the 80s, I remember first seeing D.R.I. at the Balboa Theater in Jan. 1986 with Paul Baloff-fronted Exodus, Possessed and Death Angel. (Dark Angel was supposed to play but they flaked). Great to see that they're still rocking out.
Holy hell! I will never forget wearing out my "Dealing With It" cassette back in 1985. In the boom box blaring as we skated all summer in Phoenix, AZ. Was jamming Dirty Rotten LP around 1984. I was just 14 and 15 years old then. The song Mad Man is hilarious. My friends and I would crack up hysterically over the dad walking in on them while recording telling them it's his house and he didn't want to listen to them when he came home. Their response, "Okay, okay we're stoppin', we're stopping right now." (door closes) Music hits 100% full punk. Ha! Ha! Great times. My has time flown.
I am with you 100%....legends at work here. I have all the cassettes and the Live at The Ritz DVD from 1987...52 years young and I still love this. Defined a generation and a culture back in the day. I have a few DRI shirts too. Mad Man is a gem! Absolute genius songwriting 👍😎
Me and a buddy had just finished smoking some weed when we listened to that track for the first time...we were gasping for air due to laughing so hard! Good times!😆
From Houston ,Tx. Awesome upload! Wish I was there. Been jammin to these guys since late 80’s. Great to c them doing their thing their way! Five Year Plan!!!!🤙🏻🍺
So awesome to see a, kinda recent, performance from this band. They still sound awesome, and Kurt Brecht's voice is still awesome, and legendary as well. I still remember being 12 or 13yo way back in 1992, watching Headbangers Ball one Saturday night on MTV, and seeing the video for Acid Rain. The following weekend, my mom took me to the local music store, and I picked up their CD, Definition. I was hooked after that, and immediately started picking up their back catalog of albums, and that was my earliest introduction to Thrash, I do believe. Those albums have always remained in my collection since then as well. Such great music, and such great memories too. Still surprised that I can recall specific moments from that long ago, but can't even remember what I did an hour ago, after having sudden/emergency brain surgery back in 2020. Glad I still have those great memories in there though. 😎🤘
They still sound just as good as they did in the 80s and early 90s. Thrash Zone was my first cassette then I started listening to the rest of their stuff
For anybody that doesn't know, tray and find their "Crossover" album. It's like hardcore thrash meets death doom. Totally unique sound and from like 85 or 86.
Your are correct. As a SoCal skate punk kid I wore Crossover out. Still have the original vinyl...I'm gonna be 50 next week. I'm still rad (but not if you ask my daughter.)
They made a choice to abandon making new albums and just tour. It's their bread and butter, and they concentrate on their core, die hard fans. And when you're touring, traditionally, crowds aren't always going to be huge, ESPECIALLY during weeknights. But you're on the road and the bills must be paid, so you gotta play whenever and wherever you can. EVERY touring band playing small/mid sized venues, have low turnouts Sunday-Wednesday. And not for nothing, this is a decent crowd for a weeknight show.
They preferred to stay that way. Saw them last month in a similar venue in Dallas and They killed it. Btw they will be touring to Latin America and Europe soon. ua-cam.com/video/Dt1sxxPq_R8/v-deo.html
THRASHZONE 4 Lf!!! BENEATH THE WHEEEELLL! Love these dudes, i remember seeing them with Suicidal Tendencies back in the day, awesome energy, the drummer was just a kid at the time
The testosterone just isn't there in a 40+ year old crowd. Seeing them in the mid 80's in my mid teens was explosive. The energy of the punk scene hasn't been the same since the mid 80's really. Some would like to think it's still alive and well but there was something magical that took place from 1977-1985 in the punk scene and it seem to have tapered down by 1987. The only other band I saw that had the tenacity of early (1980-1985) DRI was the band Government Issue who were notorious for playing sets straight through with no breaks in between songs. It was nuts!
That's awesome that they are still touring! . 2 years ago I introduced my then 17 year old daughter to DRI. I asked her what was her 5 year plan? Then I had to play song for her.
That guitar tone, you know it's them right away! These guys deserve so much more respect for bridging punk and metal, early pionniers of 'Crossover' ! Haha little 'pat' on the butt there Kurt at 9:55 ;)

Saw them at the Channel in Boston, around 1989. Show lasted about 5 minutes. Asshole security was assaulting people, he reached in to grab someone, Spike Cassady kicked him in the ass into the pit. He climbed back onstage and started pulling mic’s off everything. They kept playing, everyone got on the stage, then the cops came.
