The World Cup winner is fairly predictable, what might be hard to predict is how the knockout stages will play out… only a few countries have won it in almost 100 years. Germany, Brazil, Italy, France, Argentina, Uruguay, Spain and England. In the last 40 years only two countries have broken into the select winners (France & Spain) so it is highly likely that one of the former winning countries wins it again.
The best would be for a new winner to claim it…. Belgium, Denmark, Portugal etc.
The World Cup is generally the most predictable of tournaments...8 winners...Uraguay, England , Spain only won once. Italy , France and Argentina twice, Germany three time winner, Brazil Four time winner. Very predictable

Everybody is getting on Frank for his choices, but in my lifetime I have never seen a world cup where all the favourites won their matches. There is always big shocks in the group stage and teams that overperforming and underperforming.

@@twitch432 No, Canada doesn’t have the players that Senegal or Croatia back in 1998 had. Croatia had one of the best players in the world on every position in that World Cup and were 3rd place. Canada has only 2 players and I don’t think they have good bench.

Croatia are criminally underrated with the team that they have. They have beaten denamrk more then 3 times in a row now across many competitions. Watch them go all the way, Its very possible with all those mega young future stars like josko gvardiol, stanisic , lovro majer, luka sucic and borna sosa.

@@XhoowieX it was chaotic, Croatia literally got to the final and Russia beat Spain to get the quarters and Belgium beat Brazil to get to the semis and Mexico and South Korea beat Germany in the groups stage and England got to the semis and Iceland tied with Argentina and Spain and Portugal had a fantastic 3-3 draw in the groups and Iran almost pulled off the upset against Portugal to go to the round of 16 and that’s not to mention this was all without the usual countries that qualify like Italy, Netherlands, USA, and the current Copa America champions at the time Chile.

Lack of Argentina making a deeper run and possibly winning it is insane. Haven’t lost a game since 2019. They are playing like a solid unit and there is a real team behind an on fire and in form Messi, this team could do anything. On their day they can beat anyone, they already beat Brazil in a high stakes final so why can’t they beat them again. Argentina could do it.
They won 1-0 and they should have at least 2 red cards that game, Comebol just made the last Copa América to Messi win something before retired

Gotta admire bold predictions. I normally play it quite safe and boring. There are always surprises and come the day I am pretty sure the semifinals won't be the 4 most people think, but by having the top guns arriving far in your prediction it is less likely most of them will fall off and you are likely to get more names right.

I agree with Frank that France's form does suggest that they could disappoint.
I'm a bit surprised at how several people think Croatia will be eliminated at the group stage. They've looked lately and have finally found some young talent. I think Morocco is the possible sleeper in there with their very solid defense.
Argentina vs Brazil would be really exciting as a semi-final.
Morocco are my dark horse. I have them going through, and might even beat a team like Spain in Round 2 if they arent sharp.
I think African/Middle Eastern teams will push quite hard this time.

I am from Costa Rica all though the group we are in is really hard that’s what they said before 🤷🏻♂️ in 2014 and Maradona was laughing at us we ended up topping the group and making it to the quarter finals i would be so happy if we make it out the group atleast I am very excited for the World Cup and goodluck to every country ❤️

What we’ve come to learn from international tournaments is there’s always shocks and there’s always a big team or two that go out early. France won’t get to the final, don’t forget there missing Kante, Pogba and Varane.

My final is Brazil-Portugal. Denmark and Argentina will both get knocked out in the quarterfinals. They don't have enough in order to push for a final push imo.

But exclusively on paper. Their form has been terrible, because don't forget that they had to go through the play offs to qualify after losing at home to Serbia, who they could face in the round of 16. They need a new manager, and they're not getting one until after the world cup. Meanwhile, denmark made it to the semi finals of the euros, losing against England to a sterling dive, they qualified after just 8/10 of their world cup qualifying matches, not conceding in a single one until match 9 and losing in match 10, but I doubt they would've cared about them considering they already qualified. They also beat france twice, home and away, in the nations league. Meanwhile, Argentina beat Brazil in the final of the COPA America to win it, demolished Italy 3-0 in the finalissima, and haven't lost a game since 2019.

Argentina won the American cup in a very tight game. Before that they were on a losing strike against Brazil. But Argentina vs Brazil there’s never a favourite anyways and I agree they are being overlooked. For me it’s either Brazil or Argentina who will win the World Cup.

It's really hard to predict this year.
It seems every nations has declined since the last world cup
Most of them are going by logic but there is always a surprise team that disrupts a group that’s usually not a elite team in every World Cup and weaker teams are caching up to the elites. The competition is getting tougher.
There are always surprises , so it makes sense to predict some.
My gut feeling is telling me Argentina will reach the final. Provided if Argentina play with heart and passion, and being disciplined defensively very compact without the ball. Messi needs to provide the ultimate spark in his creativity for the team

I actually reckon Denmark will be the dark horses of the World Cup. Defying the odds reaching the later stages of the tournament in Qatar. Denmark had togetherness, and team spirit during the Euros last summer they were very unlucky against England
