It is sad, but it even happens with dogs and cats, even tigers! Sometimes pretty to us, it is not pretty in the animal world, and these bad genetics come through Like you can't find a white tiger in the wild Because they get so many health problems, they would die at a young age, unlikely the orange tiger that is healthy and can easily hide in the jungle
Same, i remember the very first video i watched was when she was born, i think the title was something like,"baby born without a leg" or something like that
I totally respect your decision to sell Lola as a pet. I wish more breeders would share these difficult decisions with the public. I swear I am going to scream if one more person tells me they want a "flashy" kid from me.
Good on you for making the hard decision - Lola was always a bit of a longshot with her lineage, but she'll be a gorgeous little pet! I think 7 kiddings next year might be a bit more manageable than the 9 you had this year, as well!
Brightly coloured kerchiefs of contrasting colours on each dog will make it easier to tell them apart at a distance. Such beautiful critters, your goats and your doggos!
Any decisions you make are right for your herd. I had hoped Lola would be breedable because of her unusual coloring, but it is obvious that she won’t have the genetics necessary for show quality goats. She is adorable & will make someone else very happy.
I was one that really wanted you to keep Lola because she was so beautiful. But I have so much respect for a breeder that can look past the pretty colors (wish they did this more in the horse world!). I know you will find an amazing home for Lola and maybe her new owners wouldn’t mind sharing an adult picture with us just once 🥰
Your stance on ethical breeding has taught me a lot over the years, and is one of the main reasons why I love supporting you guys. Your decision on Lola seems very sensible and the right thing to do. She’s adorable, but just simply not what you’re looking for genetics wise. Keeping my fingers crossed for Honey - she’s a good looking doe 🤞 you’ve got some fab looking goats right now. Very excited for the next kidding season already 🤣
DaNelle, i know that was a hard decision, but I'm proud of you for making the right decision for your herd! I am only a little more than a year into owning goats, but am already realizing I will need to make hard decisions about my herd in the very near future. Watching you and Crystal make the decisions y'all make and WHY y'all make those decisions makes me more confident in my decisions. Thank you for sharing your input! I'm sure Lola will become a best friend for an amazing owner! 😊
While it is sad, I think letting little Lola go is the best decision that you could have made. I am glad thar Honey has a wider rump and larger teats. Hopefully she can carry the Tilly line for you all!
Awww, it's always the pretty ones! The side by side really shows how much smaller she is. You need to do what's right for your goats and the breed, and I am sure you can find her an awesome home to be a pet. Where is Zorro? Did you sell him?
From everything I’ve learned from your channel over the years, this 100% seems like the right move with Lola. Thank you for setting an example of prioritizing the health of your animals and improving the breed standard!
Tough choices are the mark of a strong individual. At least you know someone will get a beautiful pet for many years to come in Lola. Can't wait to see what the next years bring as you go forward with your breeding plans.
It’s been so cool seeing you and Crystal become friends. It must bring you both solace knowing you have someone who gets what you’re going through with the goat and UA-cam business. ❤
I appreciate how much you've learned and grown! Too many people would just breed for the money or the pretty colors, which is why so many domestic animal breeds have such problems in modern times! Thank you, Danelle!!! Sincerely, a very passionate animal geek 💖💖💖
Thank you for all the updates. I’m happy that I got to see Luna this week. I have my plush Luna and love it! It’s so good to see the entire family together! ❤️🐐
Kudus to you for making ethical breeding choices! So many people are either ignorant of the standards or deliberately ignore issues in order to make a few dollars.
I haven’t been able to watch your channel in a while, but I still find all your content so entertaining! It makes me happy for you and it also inspires me to do more with my life
Also, I can already see those dairy skin wrinkles in Lancelot's neck!! I think he's going to be a wonderful one. As for Finnick, I understand he's probably frustrating to work with, but I've loved his wild antics over this year - such a troublemaker!
Ethical breeding is so important - so many breeds are ruined with out it. I know Lola will have a lovely home and family now that the decision is made. My skin LOVES Blue Cactus soap!
Out of the Goat Farmers, Breeder's I follow on Y.T. this is my favorite. I have been on this channel for about 4 years (since the birth of Hope) and the lady that post the videos, has the most calming voice and treats her animals so well. Just saying my favorite.
I love my Luna Plushie so much. Luna has always been my very favorite 💓 . I hope you consider making other Plushies in the future for your other "Star" goats 🐐 .
😭 totally understand your decision. Her teats are so tiny and I know she'll be a wonderful pet for someone. I think stick with the decisions that best fit your goals. X
Beautiful peaches! The reason your pits are so stuck is because your variety is a "cling stone" variety. Meaning thebfruit is attached to the pit. The ones what the pits easily release from are known as "free stone" fruits. :) its all about genetics like everything.
Our family has a dog like Luna. He’s a 15yo lab (really old for labs) and he has good weeks and bad weeks. He’ll limp really bad some days from his arthritis, but just when we start getting worried about him and plan our goodbyes he’s fine almost the next day. He’s done it like five times 😅
One of the things I love about your channel is the way you discuss mistakes you've made, honestly but with self-compassion. It's helpful to those of curious about what's involved in raising goats, and it's helpful just in general. Wisdom is learning from others mistakes, and I can totally see myself having tunnel vision over a goat like Lola, so having your example makes a difference. And in general, it's just good to see someone improving on mistakes without excessive self-recrimination. Everyone makes mistakes, big and small, and beat oneself up does nothing to change things. Only doing better in the future matters. (And making amends, if possible, also.)
My family have a dog that always starts limping during the winter and then she is fine during the summer and she is 10 years old and still runs around I think it’s the cold that makes (I don’t remember the name for it but) it worse I love Luna and I hope for the best for her 🥰
Honestly I feel like you gotta do what is best for your animals and your family. As beautiful as she is I'm sure you will be able to sell her easily to an amazing home. Your chickens are beautiful. I've learned to give mine a little bit of wet feed when it's really warm. It improves the egg production greatly when I do this. Hope you can give it a try. They get easily dehydrated without us realizing until they start panting and showing signs. I learned that the hard way. Lost to many of my birds before I realized.
I want to really know the goat hierarchy. Like who is the in herd leader, who are allies, or who are rivals. Is it mom and daughters who stick together or those of similar age? Are there little gangs that like to group up together or is it random.
Honey it’s your farm, you have to do what is best for your farm and what will work, Lola is adorable, and she will make a cute pet. You have nothing to be sorry for. God bless.
I love Crystal’s soaps!! I bought some Blue Cactus Dairy soaps to give out two Christmases ago and everyone loved them!! I’m going to do it again this year!
Sorry to hear about Lola, but understand the thinking. On a positive note, it was lovely to see MY Luna and so great to hear how well she's doing considering how it was!*! ❤
I'm currently watching this video for like the million time. What I wanna say is ik u probably won't agree with me but crystal is currently selling some of her does and the ones that I love ( i mean the body and udders) are Bessie and ruger if crystal ends up selling those two i think that they'll really fit in nicely with your herd 😉
Is it bad that I LOL'd when you said Finnick is a bit nuts right after the backshot of him and his big hangers? Yes, I have a 15 yr old boys sense of humor.
I’m absolutely devastated that Lola won’t be raised up and bred. She was the one I was looking forward to watching. I understand your reasoning but none of the other does really excite me color wise.😢
It did make me sad to see Lola need to move on from breeding plans, but when you put her next to Honey it's hard to deny the differences between them for milking genetic traits. It was interesting to see what possible breeding plans you have coming up. Thank you as always for taking us on this journey with you all!
I spent $60.00 on your friend's soap. I am allergic to all scents, so opted for all different kinds of the unscented soaps that she offers. They are absolutely wonderful. Very rich, luxurious lather and it all rinses off nicely so I feel very clean. I am using the Charcoal right now, which is a black bar. I even use it on my face. Its perfect. I highly recommend this soap. I will re-buy it when my order runs out and I will re-buy it again after that, and after that.
Cooking healthy 99% of the time is great but like you said sometimes you have to go FULL SUGAR.🥰 So glad Luna is feeling better,& Lancelot is going to be a heart-breaker as he matures. 💘
You're making the right choice, as a "dog" breeder my belief is you leave the breed better than you found it. Hugs, its a hard choice but as a good breeder you know when to cut and move on. Its very hard..
I'm sorry Prim ,doesn't it stink,I have the same problem 😢. Luna is the Best Queen 👑. Lola is going to make a Great Friend ❤. I wish you well with your New Herd choices😊 JO JO IN VT 💞

That side-by-side of Lola and Honey is shocking but also makes their differences so clear! Honey's teats look 3 times as long as Lola's already!
I love Danelle prioritising health over money, she’s such a good person

That was probably the best decision for Lola. And because she is a bottle baby she will make a great pet!
