Good things come to those who wait. Wait about 7 minutes, and you´ll be in the completely right mood for what is about to happen. Damn, this is perfect...
I can only picture a gigantic, oppressive machine. For some reason, this song never feels stretched out because the music has that gargantuan feeling to it that makes its 18 minutes worth it.
Some here. Everyone said it was the best track on the album, but I wasn't getting that feeling. Probably my second favourite now, though; after In Awe Of.
and then something comes out of the blues, hitting you in the guts with the maximum pleasures, such is vicarious redemption. Vicarious redemption, in utmost horizontal terms, is truly Vertikal!! their best song ever...Cult of Luna is rightly the god of Post metal!!!
This album is a cold monster running over you. You can feel it hitting every particle of your body. It's cold, dark, haunting, heavy, mechanical, melodic and it is the kind of music that you remember for life. It tells a story beyond the lyrics, with just the feelings that the music and the artwork will bring to you. It grows within you. This album is one of the best things I've ever listened to, this is the pinnacle of post metal and this song is probably its highest point along with In Awe Of and Synchronicity. This album is auditive perfection.
Extraordinary. I love Cult of Luna, and this album is purely amazing. Their previous work was so good I wasn't certain if they could top it, or create something equally good... Alas, I'm not dissapointed.
I hope 1 day , i click on a video on youtube of a song that i already love , and i wanted to see how also the ppl who liked it has interpreted it ! maybe to know more about the masterpiece to find more meaning that i didnt notice , not ppl ranting about the music or justin beiber , if u dont like smthing don't waste your time on commenting on it ! CULT of luna presents a true form of art an "extreme " form of art ,its normal that most of the crowd wont get it , normal ppl dont get Metal music already !
I don't usually use masterpiece to describe songs, I think it's extremely overused. However, this is one of those songs that I can say that it is a true masterpiece! Don't listen to that idiot who says "Just skip to 14"00". It's 18 minutes for a reason you sack of crap! P.S. - the ending riff just floored me when I first heard this!!
In my opinion the intro does a good job getting you into the song. Sometimes I skip past the intro and its just not the same, the intro makes it better.
well in my case i asked some people to list me some metal as to which i could pick and choose what songs id like to place on a portable music device, as i haven't really given the genres the chance they deserve. now i really like the instrumental, it makes me wanna play silent hill but boy dem vocals....rough, to me personally anyway
as time moves forward thats only going to become more and more true, the very last type of music you could say was created and new, was fully electronic music. Now it's just versions of what already been done with people putting there own personalities to it.
Not totally sure, but I believe this album was inspired by the movie Metropolis. If I am not mistaken it is about future times, big high buildings and people starting to live vertically in those buildings. English isn't my first language, so it is hard for me to explain, but I think it was something like that.
Basically a album dealing with a dystopian future with most of its influence from Metropolis. Although I think that it has a lot of 1984 (Orwellian) vibes as well mainly because of its cold and detached atmosphere
Yeah but pretty much everything has already been created or done so Its nearly impossible to make something new. I thin making something new is over and now we are at a point where it's music made that sound different because of the person's or people's personality's. I mean Cult of Luna Sounds like Isis before them who sounds like Neurosis before them, and so on. I love Cult of Luna and they are easily one of my favorite bands but the way.
Your definition of "sounds like" is pretty broad based. Focus on the details or other aspects and all 3 of those bands are *totally* different. (I love all 3 BTW) As a result I tend to find minimal similarities between them.
I actually understand what he is saying. I love Cult Of Luna, nothing wrong with the vocals, however, this song could've done without the vocals. I would've loved it if this would turn out to be an instumental song filled with ambient/drony parts and all kinds of soundscape stuff. However, they chose this option and it is still okay. But I can totally understand where Greg is coming from, especially since the beginning part isn't typically CoL.
First ~4 minutes: goosebumps - check Rest of the song: goosebumps all the way - check Pure genius. (And to be honest a bit reminds me of a version of Slipknot's "Gently")
Seriously one of the best Cult of Luna songs, and maybe one of the most epic songs ever made
I wholeheartedly agree
it took me several listens to fully realize how brilliant is this song. Not a single wasted minute. Damn , what a great band indeed...
People with no attention span hate this song. Its an epic piece of music.
that last riff is amazing! this song has so much power!
Sick song, such a dark and sick atmosphere, loving every second! That sound at 6:51 Jesus, sends shivers down my spine!
This is one of the most haunting pieces of music I've ever heard. Incredible!
Imagine listening to this as you`re crucified for the sins of mankind! It sounds like the soundtrack to A Clockwork Orange part 2.
Good things come to those who wait.
Wait about 7 minutes, and you´ll be in the completely right mood for what is about to happen.
Damn, this is perfect...
This is amazing, you really gotta listen to it in full to really appreciate it.
I can only picture a gigantic, oppressive machine. For some reason, this song never feels stretched out because the music has that gargantuan feeling to it that makes its 18 minutes worth it.
That... Was absolutely fucking insane. I'm joining the Cult!!
this song wasn't an instant love like in awe of, but it grew on me, I really like it now.
Some here. Everyone said it was the best track on the album, but I wasn't getting that feeling. Probably my second favourite now, though; after In Awe Of.
First time EVER I heard guitar cry and wheep... This is an absolute masterpiece!
drums are beautifully set up in this song. such a thick sound
and then something comes out of the blues, hitting you in the guts with the maximum pleasures, such is vicarious redemption. Vicarious redemption, in utmost horizontal terms, is truly Vertikal!!
their best song ever...Cult of Luna is rightly the god of Post metal!!!
It happened again. A song kicked me in the feels. Spine-tingles everywhere.
Absolutely amazing monstrous track
15:00 This riff is monolithic, and I love how it rises out of the murk at 17:10.
This album is a cold monster running over you. You can feel it hitting every particle of your body. Yes I agree with you
Extraordinary. I love Cult of Luna, and this album is purely amazing. Their previous work was so good I wasn't certain if they could top it, or create something equally good... Alas, I'm not dissapointed.
Not only does this sound amazing as studio version, Cult of Luna just slays the audience when they play this live. A roller coaster of emotions!
Where and when do they play it live? TYVM!
cult has got to be one of the best bands ever...
This new album is ridiculous ... I'm so inspired by these guys to write more music for my band.

A song so heavy, it's like watching an entire metropolis leveled to wisps of cinders, shattered concrete & melted I-beams.
uff esta banda tiene un gran potencial
cultstep
11:02 is AWESOME
Cult of Luna can bend both time and space. Fact!
Moving mountains, splitting seas
They remind me of a Portuguese band called Lobo.
Amainzing synth work...
That riff at 11:35
I cum!
❤
Nail on the head!
This album has gotten me in it's grip and won't let me go. Amazing music! Their best since Salvation?
You don't rate Somewhere Along The Highway then?
Eternal Kingdom was better than both Salvation and Highway imo
eargasm
Absolute
I'm interested in how someone who doesn't like metal vocals could end up finding a Cult of Luna video in the first place
11:10 DUBSTEP LOLOLL just kidding these guys are insane and somehow just keep making the best music ever
What a tunnel

Funny, this song doesn't even feel like almost 19 minutes. I bet Cult of Luna can bend time and space!
I still think the intro is too long, but a fucking great song none the less.
In my opinion the intro does a good job getting you into the song. Sometimes I skip past the intro and its just not the same, the intro makes it better.
The intro is perfect. It contributes to the brooding atmosphere of the song.
You should check out their other material, u might like it.
thx for showing me the path of light.. 3;6;9
thats pretty nice
atmospheric and shit
simple but nice riffs
godspeed you black emperer?
east hastings must be one of the best songs ive heard in my life, yet its really hard to listen to
well in my case i asked some people to list me some metal as to which i could pick and choose what songs id like to place on a portable music device, as i haven't really given the genres the chance they deserve. now i really like the instrumental, it makes me wanna play silent hill but boy dem vocals....rough, to me personally anyway
Este album é uma Obra Prima. Transportado para a pintura está ao nivel de um quadro de Picasso, ou de Monêt
as time moves forward thats only going to become more and more true, the very last type of music you could say was created and new, was fully electronic music. Now it's just versions of what already been done with people putting there own personalities to it.
dont get me wrong, i love sludge, doom and ... well, let's call it art rock, but this kind of music works so much better when you're drunk ;-)
Their magnum opus
Louder.
what is the meaning of verticality? what did they want to say with that picture and album name?
Not totally sure, but I believe this album was inspired by the movie Metropolis. If I am not mistaken it is about future times, big high buildings and people starting to live vertically in those buildings. English isn't my first language, so it is hard for me to explain, but I think it was something like that.

isis and red swallows... holy hell...... so amazing

Thats cool, Hell yeah Those three bands rule! Yeah I mean each has there own sound, but you can't deny how similar their overall sound is.
I found Gold

18:52 de baise sonore ! \m/
well i skipped to 14:00 and loved the riffs. may not be getting it but thats ok.
11:02 Oh god... COL, what are you doing?
JOIN MY CULT.
The beginning kinda remembers me on Clockwork Orange
I feel sorry for this guy, he can't just sit back and enjoy the sounds
I do, as well. I have to do it in slow motion - it usually doesn't take me 19 minutes to shave. Slow motion is sexier, anyway, right?
Must like the dubstep part 11:02
Only one dislike???? Goood.
...while walking on water.
First ~4 minutes: goosebumps - check
Rest of the song: goosebumps all the way - check
Pure genius.
(And to be honest a bit reminds me of a version of Slipknot's "Gently")
11:02 jesus
that's not what i meant, it's much more intense when you're slightly inebriated ... at least as far as i am concerned.
Surely you mean Red Sparowes?
Check out Grown Below
+pulsewolf Checked out & found! They have a GREAT sound! Thanks pulsewolf
HAHAHAHA!! You're so mad!
Was it Tinie Tempah? It was Tinie Tempah wasn't it?
Ehz
11:02 Is so sick, and so is the build up.
Reminded me of Tool a little bit.
by the way if you dont like the vocals why are you listening cult of luna?
SPOILER ALERT! fuck, she told me when the song peaks
Some songs are bettet then than others... maybe this is better than Britney Spears ;-)
Yeah they're no Justin Bieber are they?
if you skip this song you better should not play it poser!
