The test on this toilet is very miserable. It actually clogged on washcloth (1st try) and Grocery bag. Also, don’t even get me started on the bowl rinse test too.
My neighbor had these toilets and ended up replacing all of them in his house. I saw the toilets sitting on his back porch and he had broken both of the water saving dams so the full tank of water was used. I don't blame him, and I also don't blame him for replacing them. Not sure what he chose to replace them though...this was back in the late 2000s.
This toilet made me laugh so hard when it clogged on a simple washcloth! Although, I absolutely hate this toilets a lot because the trapway on these look so ugly and stupid, besides, I had to deal with two of these from 1997 which clogged every single time someone would use it! But, I still would love to find one to film and upload on UA-cam!
The Savoy has always been a subpar toilet model, even in the 80s. A 90s model like this that uses 1.6 GPF has no chance of being good unless it's a front flusher.
Any Eljer toilet made after 94 are proven failure.. Their trapway and siphon jet design was a pure dead giveaway Even their flushometer offerings were just awful
I think a lot of companies were trying too hard and missed the mark. some of the older models probably could have still been made you probably just had to make the rim holes a little larger.
I love theses designs I sorta kinda like this toilet how we I did suspect theses one suspicious and not the elongated one I believe the elongated one did much better and I liked that toilet more and more it’s way better than the round one! This toilet is great HOWEVER the performance is absolutely awful and I suppose that is why I saw a person destroying the eljer toilet while replacing it with a new one like seriously eljer!!!! You did a one MISTAKE design even tho you made it looks great but your performance is a mess!!!!
I am disappointed on this toilet for failing a WASHCLOTH so i say guilty and needs to be destroyed. (At least it passed on the seconds try on the washcloth.
Owen, with respect, you need to hold the handle down to actually make these tests accurate. If the toilet says, “1.6 GPF,” that implies that it uses the whole tank of water, not however much drains before the flapper closes. In this case, you probably only used 0.75 GPF (not exactly, but just an example of how little water difference there is). To be honest, I think you should give these tests a second try and hold the handle down for all tests. Granted, I know the tank has that plastic reservoir in it, but that should not effect it much when you hold the handle down. It definitely seems to effect the flush when you do not hold the handle down, but try that in he future. I saw that even if the plastic bag didn’t go through all the way, it still was trying to suck it down until there was not anymore water for it to do so. Once you flushed again, now the water from the symphonic jet is not bypassing the plastic bag. With that change in holding down the handle, I think it could have had a chance in getting through. Same goes for the bowl rinse. If you expect the bowl to clear that ash with just a press and release flush, think about it. The rinse around the rim is fine for the most part, but then the water at the siphon jet stops pushing water and you are left with the rim jets to push the ash down. If you hold the handle down, all the ash would have likely been cleared. Hope you reconsider in the future, but I think you should at least try what I mentioned and see if it makes a difference. I am actually interested in seeing if it would work or not. Not just for this particular toilet, but others, too.
By the way, no need to do so, but I’d encourage you to pin this comment so others can think about it. I am not trying to criticize you, just giving you some feedback.
Many of these designs were not thought through when they were produced. The normal flush that I was showing is in fact 1.6 but a lot of these need more to work properly. I actually have seen those with the plastic piece taken out and it just siphons a whole lot more.
@@OCC_Plumbing_and_Restorations I still think you should try your tests again with the handle down the whole flush. I think the ash test would make a huge difference. Yes, It may still leave a little bit of ash, but not nearly as much as it did originally. It would honestly be cool to see a comparison of doing a test with the handle down versus without the handle down if a test “fails.”
OMG like this toilet performs pathetically - it's just as bad as those toilets you used to punish a couple of years ago like it clogged on a washcloth (a test that even the modern LWC Trash Bay passes easily) it is so laughable. The bowl rinse and clearance is not much better either! The ONLY decent thing is the overfilled tank clogged siphon jet test - it had some power (like it was on a high tank) which I do give it credit for and saves it from the complete Trashworthy 1/10 Club!!! That said I score it a miserable 2/10 - I would take any Front Flusher (good or not so good) any day over this piece of junk!!!
I laughed so hard when this clogged on a washcloth LOL!!
This toilet is so pathetic
Love your videos keep it up
Thanks!
Punishment
It could use one
BTW interesting flush with the overfilled siphon jet plugged.
Yeah, these are cool toilets.

These are definitely some of the worst toilets made by Eljer

I don't blame him
I had this in my Old house but we replaced it with that Chinese front flusher

It's like an oversized urinal.
@@OCC_Plumbing_and_Restorations Exactly! That's what I was thinking!
Flush rating is an C performance rating is an E

True
Hi! Im thinking of replacing my toilet with a galaxy elite toilet. (crane) Is that a good toilet?
From my experience, they are very bad. They aren't made anymore either.
@@OCC_Plumbing_and_Restorations Oh oof. I saw some on sale so I thought I could use it.
@@-God_IS_Real- Oh. Yeah, I don't recommend them
@@OCC_Plumbing_and_RestorationsThanks, you probably just saved my life from over flowing problems
No problem!

Yep

Good
Thanks
Where did you get this from?
A plumbing store dumpster
You should just take that thing out so it will flush better
That will just make the flush longer but it won't increase the power

Yeah, Eljer dropped the ball on this one
i wonder why you cant punish toilets no more
I don't have access to that property anymore
may the series r.i.p.
Really wish you still punished toilets, clogging on a washcloth is totally unacceptable
Yeah, this thing would totally get it.
meanwhile, the Russian toilet😂
I've seen videos of Russian toilets
I am disappointed on this toilet for failing a WASHCLOTH so i say guilty and needs to be destroyed. (At least it passed on the seconds try on the washcloth.
I say the elongated one survives
Yeah, I probably wouldn't restore any of these anymore.

I've been doing that with other toilets, I just didn't think of it this time.
Mf he’s flushing toilets 💀 why you getting so annoyed for
I actually hate that toilet
They are horrible
I'm ranking this toilet a f because it's the short flush thinks a lot short flush that was horrible
I wouldn't give it much more tbh
Interesting but very cloggable toilet.
Yeah, definitely

Yeah, this toilet is bad. The performance is very unpredictable.
This toilet has the weirdest trap ever and one of the worst traps ever since it couldn't even pass a washcloth pathetic
