Comedy, Acting, Writing: The many hats of Clare McConnell at Second City Toronto

Clare is an actor, comedian and writer from Calgary who performs with the Second City Touring Company in Toronto. She takes us inside the world as a performer at Second City. Despite it being hard to stand out and make a living as an actress or comedian, she always knew this was the only thing that made sense for her to do and she never seized to chase her dreams. It all paid off, she got cast in the Star Trek Discovery series. Now she looks at her so-far achievements with an infectious big grin:
"You can catch me wearing corsets and fangs on TV, or performing onstage with the The Second City Touring Company. I appear as Klingon Leader Dennas on CBS's Star Trek: Discovery, Eorann on American Gods, Erin Martin on Coroner, Petra on Wynonna Earp, and as Effie Newsome on CBC’s Murdoch Mysteries."
Clare has learned to wear many hats, as her journey took her from improv theatre to comedy, to roles in films, to writing, painting and making music, and she loves every aspect of that. But being able to perform on a stage like Second City Toronto, that has bred comedy legends like Gilda Radner, Bill Murray, Chris Farley or Steve Carell, is the icing on the cake of it all.
